Visited Trader Jack's for the first time on a summer Friday afternoon. They have a nice size outdoor seating area, some covered and some with umbrellas. Really nice riverside views as well. Our server was great, quick and friendly. She recommended some drinks, that ended up being delicious. The food came out quickly even though they were packed. We both got salads that were a great portion size, dressings were delcious and homemade, and the potato skins were hot and fresh! We almost didn't go in because there was a wait outside but we got seated right away because we were ok with indoor. They have a decent size menu for food and drink. Our waitress was great. I wish I could remember her name but she races boats and is super friendly and funny. I had the buffalo wrap it was really good! My husband had a burger and he thought it was really good too. And our server was just such a pleasant and knowledgeable lady. She even gave us some shopping tips for the area! Now, third, this is why it isn't 5 stars. My partner's lobster bisque and grilled cheese were perfect except it just needed a bit more spice. Alleppo pepper would have been chef's kiss. However, I had the prime rib hoagie with au jus. The fries were not salted at all and if you don't salt at the fryer the salt doesn't stick and they were about 2 minutes underdone. No one likes a flaccid French fry. And the prime rib had no seasoning at all. You tasted beef because you knew it was there. Otherwise it was bland as was the au jus. It was a bit pricey for the food not being spot on. I stopped in for lunch today with a friend. I've been past this place many times but never stopped and I'm glad I did. The restaurant sets right on the grand river in Eastlake. So the view was great and a nice cool breeze blows off the river. I ordered a burger with blue cheese and sautéed mushrooms. Food came out quickly, and the burger was big and meaty full of blue cheese and mushroom goodness. I always asked for Krispy french fries and when they came out with my burger, they were actually crispy and tasted really good. This is a great place to sit outside with friends have a bite and enjoy some drinks especially in the summertime. Hostess seated us in the bar area and we requested to be in the outside area under the umbrella, which she complied with Server was congenial and attentive. She returned after five minutes to inquire about the meal. Proper server etiquette was trained as a server in my lifetime so I know this The meal that I chose was something that everyone raved about however, mine came different. There was very little top browning and very little butter, garlic sauce. The baked potato was delicious. The vegetables were delicious. The roll was delicious. I was truly disappointed in the main fish entree however I decided not to send it back. Trader Jack's was a pleasant experience. After work on a Sunday I was out riding the motorcycle and thinking about a place to get dinner when I remembered Trader Jack's. I had ridden by many times when heading East along Lake Erie and paddled by as well when kayaking on the mouth of the Chagrin River so I figured I would give it a try. Located on Lake Shore Blvd. where it crosses the Chagrin River in Eastlake the location is excellent overlooking the river as it expands to meet Lake Erie. The decor is funky retro, but not overwhelming; the two covered patios provide extra space and a great place to hang when the weather is warm. Even though they were busy, I managed to snag a seat at the outdoor bar. Service by the bartender was good although she was busy and a bit scattered. The menu is a nice selection of American standards with emphasis on fish and seafood as benefits the riverside location. I went for the Jack's Fish Fry although I subbed the Mac and Cheese in place of the Coleslaw. The fish fry was two good sized cod fillets with a breading instead of the traditional batter, nicely cooked and very fresh. The fries were ok, and the Mac and Cheese was excellent with a creamy, cheesy white sauce that just needed a bit of hot sauce to make it really zippy. Overall a very good meal. Trader Jack's has a lot going for it, great location, relaxed atmosphere and a nice menu of well prepared food. If you are looking for place to chill and relax on a hot summer day you should put Trader Jack's on your list. read more

Stopped in for an early dinner on a Thursday. Had a short wait for a table on the patio, but it was so short we didn't have time to finish a drink before our table was ready. Great riverside views, and good music playing- not too loud, but great background. I had been hankering for a steak, and the steak salad fit the bill! The steak was done just as I'd ordered it- medium rare. Paired with their Balsamic vinaigrette- it was just delicious! My hubby had the Jacks Fish Fry- the dinner arrived piping hot & he said it was very good- not an over abundance of breading! The service was good, and we stuck around for a drink after dinner. Trader Jack's serves as an absolute delight and hot spot for locals and out of towners in the area. They have been consistent in both their service and food quality, and they deserve to be in the top restaurants in the state of Ohio, especially up in the northeast. The food is outstanding; we have been coming for a couple years now, trying different specials, drinks, and menu items you will not regret. The staff are also very friendly as they maintain a warm, inviting ambiance and an outstandingly clean restaurant. When it comes to the food, I highly recommend the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, because I have never had anything like it or even comparable since eating it at Trader Jack's. The spinach and artichoke dip is also in our top five menu items as well as the well-balanced cocktails they serve regularly and seasonally. The patio is wonderful to sit in during any season, and the view of the river helps to boost the restaurant's appeal. We love this restaurant and everything it has to offer. Had lunch on the heated patio with a friend. The environment is casual ba. The patio overlooks the Chagrin River and was well heated for the chili day. It was nice to feel like we were outside enjoying a spring day. The service was wonderful, friendly and helpful with suggestions and answering questions. We shared a quesadilla and then I had a salad with strawberries and candied walnuts. The quesadilla was packed with chicken and melted cheese, it was gooey deliciousness. The salad was fresh and full of ingredients and, while the dressing was thick and flavorful, you didn't even need it on the salad. The abundance of toppings alone was plenty of flavor. If you're up for casual dining on a canal of Lake Erie, this is the place. There were two huge outdoor decks, one covered, one an open pation with plenty of magical string lights. The views were stunning, aside of the huge mound of rubble and construction machinery. My nephew and I were seated right away. I was excited to see that they carry a non alcoholic ginger beer I've never had. (I enjoy them when I can't have an actual mule drink.) We started out with the crabcakes. They were nicely made, plump with a bit of crispness on the outside. Interesting orange and green sauces came drizzled over them with a leafy salad. I ordered the firecracker shrimp tacos. They were tasty, each came with 2 fat breaded shrimp, mango black bean salsa and leafy greens. And a spicy mole like sauce. They were a bit dry, it would have been a nice touch of they were served with some sour cream. My nephew ordered the Big Boy style burger, which is a Cleveland style staple similar to a Big Mac. Both meals came with fries. The service was friendly but a little slow. Overall, I would recommend this place. I could totally spend hours there enjoying some adult beverages. I've been coming here since it opened in 2005 and i've never a bad meal or a bad experience. All the menu items are great but i can't recommend the seafood enough. Their Cod Sandwich with the Sriracha tartar sauce is always my go-to favorite and same with the Fish Fry. You should always order at least a cup of the lobster bisque because it's phenomenal. Hopping place! I guess we went at the wrong time. Saturday late afternoon. Had a wait of a good solid hour. Had to wait outside because of COVID-19 but that's fine it's was nice out. Got seated in the patio. It was. Ice to overlook the water. Our server was great. Honestly I cannot remember her name but she was really good. Fun and chatty. Great personality. That really makes a good experience. And she did. We were cool and waited quite awhile to eat. So that shows you what a good attitude does. Ordered a few burgers. I was really hungry and that sounded great. I also got the lobster bisque. Homemade and I wanted to try it. Got to say it was good and had some lobster pieces in it. The soup is filling. I couldn't finish my burger. But that's cool I had it for lunch the next day. No really complaints about the food. Came in a good amount of time. Cooked the right way. Decent taste. Fries were just ok. I got a lot of stubby short pieces I hate that. But tasted ok. Parking could be a challenge when crowded. The side lot has room.
