We have a golden retriever named Cooper and we made fast friends at this fun little Bar! The bartender was fabulous. (I can't remember his name, but everybody was so welcoming and nice!). Not sure what to expect, we decided to finally check it out on this Friday. Am happy to report that we really liked the place! There's a bar, but other tables and chairs. So while it's fairly small, there is room to land after you've scored a glass of wine or a brew. I chose a very potent stout (over 13%),while Husband did a Brueprint brown ale. In addition they have shelves of beer and wine that I enjoyed perusing, especially because the selections are not common ones. When I mentioned to Annette that I didn't recognize any of the chardonnays, she said "good", because the goal is to supply ones you can't find elsewhere. So I picked one that sounded good and am happy to report that after trying it out I do indeed love it. Annette also pointed out that they do tastings, have food trucks, etc (including this Saturday). Anyone care to guess where we'll be for awhile Saturday? :)

So contrary to what you might be thinking, I came here to buy alcohol to eat- not drink. I woke up with the sudden urge to make Banana's Foster and went down to Trader Joes for ingredients. I was reminded of the funky NC alcohol laws (CA Trader Joe's sell wine, beer and hard liquor-FYI they even have their own generic brand of vodkas and rums!). So I quickly Googled the nearest ABC store to home and wham- I ended up here! I didn't want to invest in an entire bottle of rum (especially since the recipe called for only a few tbsp) so I bought a few of the tiny airplane bottles. They seemed to have a pretty wide selection and fair prices. The ladies at the front counter told me that there was another ABC store nearby, but that location was small and served you from behind a counter. These same ladies also helped me pick the right brand of rum for my recipe (which I was thankful for since rum ain't my poison). For all of these reason's I will return! Well, all of these reason's and the simple fact that this is the only place I CAN come to buy alcohol. North Carolina kinda has me by the balls on this one.

Good luck finding a parking space on a Saturday afternoon. Also, good luck working your way around the Papa John's delivery drivers on the way out. By the way, much love to all of the Papa John's drivers - you guys are awesome and thanks for all the pizza. The selection is one of the worst I've seen. I can get most of my favorites (Tito's, Tanqueray, Bulleit), but I always have a hard time finding anything out of the ordinary. On my last visit, the store was operating two checkout lanes, and then switched to just one as soon as 10 people needed to check out. I didn't quite understand that strategy. The Cameron Village store is much nicer.

Hours are limited and all are closed on Sunday. While there are sales, all prices are the same state-wide.
