I'll never spend another dollar at this place. I'm from Philly and a huge Eagles fan. The owner kicked my fiance out for wearing an Ohio State hat, even though he was also wearing an Eagles jersey. After speaking with the manager, he proceeded to brag about how much money he makes which was wild because I dont understand how the topic was relevant. I decided to leave, and as he was doing so, on our way out the bouncers were trying to provoke him to fight them. I was in the bar for maybe three minutes, and it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a bar. Hoping to find a better Eagles bar soon, because I need one down here. Strange rules for a bar. Men with no sleeves not allowed, but can switch into a hoodie that doesn't fit and have their entire midriff show and that's OK. Tried to sit down at the bar because our friend was in crutches and they got mad we were sitting in the bar stools...

If I could give them zero stars, I absolutely would. We walked in to this bar and was immediately greeted by a 17 year old bouncer that said to my sister that she had to leave. He was standing three inches away from her face and said "you're wearing a pink hat that says Nola (New Orleans) which goes against our rules. We only allow eagles fans her. You have to leave." We told him that we were there to watch the eagles game and we're waiting for four more people to come to have drinks, eat and enjoy ourselves. He walked away awkwardly and came back two minutes later with the owner of the bar. This guy proceeded to tell us that it was a bar only for people who rooted for the eagles and that we looked like we were from Philly and wanted to know why my sister was wearing a Nola hat. We told him we weren't from Philly but that we were there to watch the game. He continued to argue and said we had to leave the bar in front of the entire crowd that was outside. At this point, we just got up and walked out. I was very embarrassed but honestly this owner should be ashamed of himself. We were there to spend money and watch the football game and because we weren't wearing green and wearing a pink hat that we got at the French Quarters he publicly kicked us out. Not only did we go but we went back the same day. Jesse was super cool and she herself is enough reason to go. But the upside is they have a small but well curated beer list. This is a really nice bar that's more on the quiet side off of Glenwood South. We strolled on in here on a Sunday afternoon for a drink before meeting friends at a busier bar. They had a pretty good selection of beers and ciders. They even had a CBD infused drink (non alcoholic) that I thought was pretty cool. The only reason I didn't rate them 5 stars was due to them not having kombucha. I'm usually seeing these types of beer shoppes carry more non alcoholic beverages for those who rather eat their calories than drink them. (me!) They have then just beer, however. Glenwood, North Street had a beer monopoly for a short time until Stags Leap and Storm Brewing opened up on the last two weeks, doh! From the outside, you'll notice North Street Beer Stations green face and inside you'll find some communal seating along with a back bar. Bottles on the left, small elevated area in front, I'm sorta scratching my head on how this place is laid out. But thankfully the bartender in back is super-cool so I grab a couple of pints and hang out. We've got techno-dance music pumping out on the speakers overhead which is, different. Overall North Street Beer Station is totally fine for a quick brewski but I don't get what they're trying to do here. North Street is still new enough that not everyone knows about it, but it has definitely risen in our list of go to bars on the weekend or during the week. They have a variety of craft beers on tap for all different taste buds but if you're really picky you can always grab something out of the cooler. The prices are competitive with the other bottle shops in the area although what I appreciate about North Street is that they give full pints of all the beers listed on draft (most beer stores list the smaller pours now-a-day as it's always a shock when you're paying more for a beer and only receive 10oz). What will keep bringing me back to North Street is their awesome bartender Ellis, she's down to earth, loves her job and makes her customers feel important and special (she always remembers my name!) And although the prices aren't listed for the beers on the shelves, Ellis has a price gun which comes in handy and she's quick to help out. As a side note, I also love the fact that the beer shelves and tables in North Street are all recycled wood from the law firm that was in the location prior, it's nice to see a local business being sustainable! Now all North Street needs to do is get someone to get their social media up and running so all the beer nerds can know what to expect on tap! read more

North Street Beer Station is just what Glenwood South needs.... it's a cozy bottle shop with ~8 rotating taps. Located near the corner of Glenwood, it's a great place to have a drink while grabbing some take-out food from nearby restaurants. They even have $4 ponts on Sunday&Monday, which is a fabulous deal for their awesome craft beers! You can even bring your dog inside while you enjoy these treats :) They always have taps for everyone's liking- they always have something dark, some IPA, a wheat, and a light beer. They also tap a lot of local NC kegs too, which I love supporting locals who support locals. They have tons of seating at the bar & there are quite a few tables. I love the garage door at the front that provides such openness to the tasting room. They also have 3-4 TVs to watch sports or whatever u want. Parking is available on the street or in nearby lots & the garage is a block away. We were walking by and heard "I ain't mad At Cha" by 2pac playing. This plus the cool hipster looking ambience drew us to choose this place over the bar next door. Beer isn't the only option here, you can also buy wine! The music kept going with the old school hip hop and we enjoyed the vibe of the tunes and view of outside street over our beers. The decor was cool. I liked how the furniture didn't all match and some pieces gave the feeling of being bought 2nd hand. This place seems like a nice bar in a great location with friendly and efficient service, and that's great. But, as a bottle shop it's a total no-go for me. Prices are two to three times what you'll find at Crafty, House of Hops, Pelagic or other local bottle shops. Those three alternatives are also excellent neighborhood bars, crowded on most nights of the week. It's also annoying that the beers at North Street have no price labels so you have no idea what you're paying until they ring them up and you go into price shock On the bright side, all bottles and cans are refrigerated and the NC beer selection is OK. Raleigh is not only expanding with an array of new breweries but also with a growing appreciation among drinkers for the craft. A growing beer culture has created a need for more places to buy craft beer -- thus, the emergence of several new bottle shops, including North Street Beer Station. As Raleigh emerges as a craft beer city, the more I ask this question: Who's the best? What is the must-visit bottle shop? To me, there are three important attributes of bottle shops that can keep the craft beer enthusiast happy and coming back for more. North Street Beer Station excels at some but slightly misses the mark on others. Let me explain. 1. ATMOSPHERE: At first glance, the interior decor successfully captures the essence of Raleigh -- a city that embodies it's cultural history while embracing the new. Housed in an old warehouse space, the industrial spirit of Raleigh's past merges with the sophisticated feel of farm urban chic: open space, spring and neutral colors, wooden furniture and shelves, and metal accents. A glass-paned garage door raises to invite you in for a drink. 2. SELECTION: Although not as extensive as other bottle shops in the area (ex: Tasty Beverage Co and Bottle Revolution), North Street Beer Station does offer more than 500 types of bottled beer. The beer selection has a decent range from across the beer spectrum and focuses on both local and national craft beers. Sold in singles, you have the option to mix and match a 6pk to go. 3: PRICE: Oh boy. This is the biggin'. Reasonable, fair prices are key to having a LONG-TERM successful business, especially in a market saturated with ever-increasing bottle shops. If I care about the booze I'm buying (and I do), I don't want to be ripped off. With that being said, where are the prices? Usually when a business intentionally doesn't display correct price tags, that isn't a good sign. Hmm... maybe I overlooked them? Even so, a customer shouldn't have to search aimlessly for a price; it should be displayed clearly. Maybe you choose to order a drink from the bar instead? North Street Beer Station offers 12 (or 13?) rotating taps; the draft list is displayed on small chalkboards behind the bar. Price-wise, though, their pints are a bit on the pricey side for a bottle shop. Pints range from $5 to $7, though most tend to skew on the higher end; compare this to the $3-$5 draft prices of nearby competition (ex: Tasty Beverage Co). In summary: If you're in the neighborhood, North Street Beer Station provides variety from the usual, but don't forget to check out other bottles shops in the area... or Peace Street Market. read more

I've been in here browsing on a few ocassions now. Looking for interesting, rare or unique beers. Pretty much a no go on those. So what does this place carry? The usual suspects, local stuff, stuff you've had many times. As I browsed through the store, it became a challange, a search, a mission, all to find a beer I've never had. I managed to find a few, literally a few. Out of the entire store I found 3 new beers; or I've drank 98%+ of the beers they carry. I should also note, most of what they sell are singles, not 4/6 packs. Basically the store reminds you of your buddy's fridge. Ya, he likes beer, but he hasn't learned about the good beer yet. So there is always hope. The location is good, and the size is right. But as it stands this place may end up blending into the tapestry of Glenwood Ave and the many other beer places. read more

North Street may be the last viable entry into the Raleigh beer scene. Before it opened, there wasn't a good spot to hang out and drink craft beer on Glenwood. When it's warm outside and the garage door is open, it's hard to beat the atmosphere. As a bottle shop, I probably won't be visiting that frequently unless I happen to be nearby. The selection is comparable to Paddy O'Beers, Tyler's and Crafty, but it doesn't really touch Tasty Beverage or Peace Street Market. All of North Street's beers are domestic, with the exception of one and a half shelves. There's a couple things that are a bit odd. First - as Lynsy mentioned - you won't find any price tags. Second, the arrangement of furniture reminds me of a classroom. The tables run parallel to the bar. Fun fact: the building was formerly Holly Aiken's workshop. read more

North Street Beer Station made quite an impression on me Friday night when I joined a nice group of friends there. It opened this past St. Patrick's Day, but it was my first visit after my many walks and drives by. I'm glad I finally made it in. There is no food, so we brought our dinner in from down the street. Once we had finished our slices, we made sure to feed the crust to Boozey, the resident German Shepherd, behind the bar. He's a little eager so don't patiently wait for him to take it and lick your fingers. A dog on a mission for some crust! He's a really friendly guy though who loves to greet people with perky ears and then relax in his bed under the counter. Right now there is a nice Holiday draft selection, mostly local, and all have great descriptions. There were no wheat beers on tap and that's more my thing so the manager easily pulled a few bottles from the cooler. I don't recall the name of the first one I had, but it was good. However, I wanted to try something different so the manager pulled out a Tangerine Wheat Ale, Lost Coast Brewery, for me to try. I really enjoyed it. My friend and I agreed that it even smelled like tangerine! There are a few TV's, a couple tall tables, and then a long bench near the front. I didn't see any games out openly, but apparently you may be able to ask for them. A group came in and got started on Cards Against Humanity, with their two dogs in tow as well. Beer Station is an appropriate name. It's not a brewery, but it's not your typical bottle shop either. I find that North Street is more of a hub with a little something in the beer department for everyone. People come here for afternoon meetings, early evening camaraderie, and weekend fun as well. I had no idea this place existed until we wandered in Friday by mistake. We were hanging out at the Hibernian having a few beers, and then decided to walk over to Natty Greene's for a beer, before we had to meet some friends for a late dinner. We ended up never making it to Natty's. We were waking by when North Street Beer Station caught my eye. I hadn't heard about a new bottle shop opening downtown, so we stopped in to see what it was all about. We ended up grabbing a couple of beers out of the cooler and enjoyed them at the bar while talking to the owner about when he opened and how it was going. The place was great! A little small, and it smelled a little smokey for my liking (they were letting people smoke right outside the "door"), but they had a solid beer collection and a lot on draft. It put off a very chill vibe, and is definitely what that area of Glenwood South needed- a calm, cool place to hang out and enjoy some good beer. I also really liked the indoor/outdoor feel of the place. It always surprises me when I see another bottle shop opening (there are so many now), but with Raleigh growing to be the amazing craft beer city that it is, it seems the demand is only growing. The selection? Unreal. I buy beer Christmas presents for brewer friends and I always impress. NSBS does first Friday well and are in a great spot off of Glenwood south. The staff is phenomenal and don't even roll their eyes if a friend drops a bottle. The bathroom is always stocked and very user friendly. This has become my go to whenever I'm on Glenwood South. It's a good way to get out of the ruckus, regroup, and grab a really good beer. These days, lil bottle shops are where I like to get mine to go. I really love this place! Great location right off from Glenwood. The building is painted a lime colored green so it stands out so it is noticed. It's the perfect size for a bottle shop/bar. The beer seems to rotate, so the next visit you will always find at least one or several new brews on tap that were not there the last time you visited. They have all craft brew on tap and hundreds of beer in the store. They often have many of their beers already chilled so you can enjoy them at the bar or take them ready to drink at home. Sunday and Monday's ALL their drafts are $4! I typically do not get to "know" people that work behind the bar, but this is an exception. There is a great bartender there by the name of Ellis. She can read people very well, strike up a conversation with anyone (yet at the same time know when people do not want to be bothered) and still serve everyone in the bar with ease. My husband and I have been in frequently and after our first time in she remembered our name, our drink of choice and even our dog's... that impressed me. I love that the place is dog friendly too. Many times, not all, there is at least one dog at the bar. It's never a scene or problem but I hope to be able to take my furry ones there on a slow day to enjoy a brew. My only complaint, coming from a wine drinker, is that the wine they offer isn't quality and the owners charge high dollar for it. Please, please consider different wine. While I do love some beer, as a wife of a beer lover, I would love to come enjoy a decent glass of wine at a decent price with my hubs sometimes. #BOOZEYFORLIFE read more
