I can't express to you how wonderful Tasty Bev Co is. I would give em 10 stars if I could. The best selection, dogs, and people in town. Every Wednesday, the owner Johnny whips up a new limited edition "Weiner Wednesday" hot dog recipe. I've had so much fun trying the new recipes and I try to go every week. They even keep my beverage of choice in the keg fridge behind the counter so there's always a cold one when I get there! This week, I was sadly unable to go to Weenie Wednesday because I've got COVID. Johnny noticed, messaged me, and delivered my usual order - along with a special Weenie Wednesday hot dog - right to my door. Big big shoutout to Johnny and the crew at Tasty. Sometimes you don't know exactly what you want, but you know what you don't want. These are some steep judgement calls for someone else to make for you, but I gave the staff at Tasty Beverage Company some perimeters and six of their selections later I walked out with some tasty local beers. The selection is amazing and the staff obviously understands what you're looking for with even the most basic beer describing vocabulary. As my friend and I were waiting for our table at Jose and Sons, we decided to spend the time at Tasty. They allowed us to leave our purchases in the store and pick it up after dinner. Loved the variety of brands to choose from and the uniqueness of the choices. We wanted something fruity and there were many options. Ended up getting a raspberry ale (had never tried one before!) and a few alcoholic lemonades to enjoy during the Super Bowl. The raspberry ale was interesting. It was more sour than I would have expected, but not necessarily in an unpleasant way. There were several others that I wanted to try, but those will be for next time! read more

I've got to admit, Tasty has won me over with time. The first couple months of visits I was confused, why would any place that sells such delicious beverages close at the ungodly hour of 10pm? You're a bottle shop not a bar, but you have a bar in your bottle shop. I'm telling you people I wasn't loving the tastiness that is Tasty Beverage. However, after some time I learned it really was love at first sight, and Tasty is a true beer lovers spot, a classy joint that puts together bike rides and special tastings for those true enjoyers not bingers of this thing we call beer. After taking in my full share of all the [many] new and old bottle shops up & down Glenwood and downtown I realized that Tasty truly is the best in downtown Raleigh. Conveniently tucked away in the depot, it's close enough to downtown to draw the true beer connoisseurs and not the drunkies. It closes early so it's where you start--not finish. They let you stay in the shop even after closing, just have a "last call" at 10pm. Drinks are by far the cheapest in downtown Raleigh for quality and selection is amazing. Not only are their coolers filled with beer there are stocked shelves and 8-10 drafts plus three growler fills. The seating can be difficult on Saturday nights but I love sitting at the bar in the winter and grabbing a seat outside on the patio in the summer. I recommend following Tasty on social media if you're vying for any of those rare beer finds because they go fast! Also bring cash for the bar tenders because since it's a bottle shop strictly there is not tip line on the receipt. Can't wait for the new store to open up in Asheville early next year because I know where I'll be headed in the Spring! read more

With a huge stock of hard to find beers on their shelves along with a small tasting bar in back, you should be able to find something to drink or bring home if you're a beer connoiseuir. The staff here knows their stuff and can guide you to one of the craft brews on tap or on their shelves. And prices are reasonable making Tasty Bev an easy visit. While some people see Tasty Bev as a hang-out spot, I see it more as a "grab a beer or two" type place before heading out elsewhere. Tasty is awesome! It's a little hidden in a shopping center across from Boxcar and behind Videri in downtown Raleigh. The reason I like this place is because they carry a variety of different beer and wines all for a great price. You can find a bunch of speciality beers here. The first half of the place is almost like a grocery store where there is aisles of beer, there's about 4 or 5 fridges on the right hand side for cold beverages and they also have a bar towards the back. I would consider this more of a hipster laid back place, not very fancy but pretty awesome! My co workers come here on Friday afternoons to grab a beer and relax. This place does have about 8 seats around the bar and 4 or 5 tables outside. Probably not the best place to stay and hang out but convenient for those who work/ live downtown that want to pick up beer. read more

Okay, this place is really cool, and I'm not even a big beer fan. However, when I do want a beer, I want a GOOD one, a TASTY one, and this place is one fun place to browse the options. And wow are there options! After a recent jaunt to Jibarra, we stumbled upon this place, and were kicking ourselves saying, how could we have not noticed this before? The answer was actually given by an employee...they keep the windows shaded to protect the precious merchandise! It can look closed or never opened. Aren't you glad now that this cannot happen to you? (you're welcome) Beer, Ale, Porters, Stouts...variety from every country, lovingly taken care of to the extent that they will look closed...gotta respect that, and I DO! Came here with a friend on a Saturday night. There were some people in the back just hanging out and drinking beer that they got from the small beer bar in the back, which seemed like a good sign and really added to the laidback atmosphere of the place..not pretentious at all. It's not a very large space, but I actually preferred that..less decision anxiety about what to get. All the beers were organized by the country they were brewed in, and there was a small selection of singles to customize a 6-pack with too. However, the highlight of our experience here was when my friend asked for beer recommendations. We're both complete beginners when it comes to beer, and so she asked someone working there if he could recommend one to her based on a beer she had before and the taste/finish of it. The man who helped us was super friendly and helpful, was able to give some really good recommendations, and provided helpful information about beers in the process. It was clear he really enjoyed his job and was very knowledgeable/enthusiastic about beer. It really contributed to the personal and local feel of the place, and both my friend and I left with a fantastic impression of it. I would highly recommend giving this place a visit. Oh WOW!!! Beer lovers unite, this is your spot! Before I could even get through the door I was given a proper greeting and then my eyes got big and my jaw dropped. All I could do was gaze at the selection. I was promptly taken to the back by a friend to do some tastings right off the tap. There were 5 choices, all of which came from quite reputable breweries but only 3 of the actual beers had I ever heard of before(AND I KNOW BEER). Once I finally had a nice pour or 3, I decided to start my wanderings. I went straight for the American IPA's. I knew thats where I'd start and thats where I'd probably finish. First thing I did was take 4 22's and put them on the counter. It wasn't long before I realized I'd be needing a large vessel to carry all the beer I needed to take home. Given the fact that it was right around harvest season, I figured I'd check out a couple pumpkin ales. We popped a bottle of PumpKing and ohhhhh buddy, I'll be stocking up next year. I'd continue to ramble about all the diverse selections from all over the world, but to each their own, so i just suggest you visit. If your a rookie to craft beer, just let them know, I'm sure they would be more than helpful. The diverse collection a beer is immense, the prices are pretty nice for these types of brews, and the staff there are just good people in general. I need one closer to me, and I need it now. How people would not give this place 5 stars is beyond me. Tasty Beverage Co is located at the Raleigh Depot just around the corner from Videri Chocolate Factory. There is ample parking in front and to the side of the depot. Walking into this place was a treat. We'd been hearing about it from a family member for a while but didnt think their selection would be SO vast! Theyve really got something for everyone. A great US selection, even some west coast brew I wasnt sure we'd be able to get on this coast. They have a separate set of shelves for the local NC brews, which is very cool. They also have a great selection of European/ Belgium beers,as well as a good little cider selection. I highly advise making your own 6 pack to take home (or a 4 pack if youre really overwhelmed). Theres even a full cold case if youre looking to get something to drink right away. Feel like tasting something you want to buy right that moment? Simply take it up to the bar and theyll pour it into a glass for you. Note: Youll still have to pay for the can/bottle but if youre looking to try something they currently have on tap, im pretty sure theyll give you a tasting glass for no charge. We tried a full glass of the Trappistes Rochefort 10 (cuz were adventurous like that), wow is that a great beer. We just happened to be served by the owner, super nice guy. He was telling us that they sell more of that beer than anyone else around (and we can see why). It like their beer mascot. We fell so in love w/ this place that, not only did we buy t-shirts, were planning another trip down to Raleigh w/ some friends to introduce them to this place. The Tasty Beverage Company is tucked away in a strip of a few restaurants in The Depot in downtown Raleigh. Parking is free in front of the building, and there is always a security person monitoring the lot. You wouldn't think to come to this area for a crazy good beer selection, but I'm certain you won't be disappointed when you leave. This is the place to go to find every kind of beer your heart desires. I'm not certain how many craft beers they stock, but it's a bit overwhelming (in a wonderful way!). They have a large cooler chock full of the favorite selections, and several aisles of bottled and canned beer. They usually have a special beer on the front counter where you check out. Probably the coolest thing about Tasty Beverage Company is that they have a tasting bar. They rotate the brews they have on tap, and I believe they have about 6 of them. The bar is small and there are only about 6 seats. I love the variety of beer they have at this bar and how it rotates, and they often feature several new local beers here too. read more

Beer is good, and having a specialty beer store where the staff knows what they are talking about makes it GREAT! Tasty Beverage has everything from your local craft beers to rare limited edition brews and everything in between. It is a great place to go to pick up a bottle after work or you can create a very unique six pack on your way out. A useful tip, if you are not sure what to get or want to try something new keep an eye out for the "Staff Picks" that appear on almost every aisle. The employees get to sample many of the beers and are a great resource when navigating a new style. My newest discovery is the Harvest strong ale aged in whisky casks and I never would have seen it had it not been for the Tasty Bev Crew! read more

It's beervana! From the numerous countries and styles represented on the shelves to the chill little counter where the taps hide out, Tasty Beverage has a little something for every beer fan. They even carry a small selection of local cheeses and crackers in case the need to feed strikes and you don't feel like hoofing it to one of the many restaurant nearby, or if you need an instant party-with-snacks to go. The only thing I didn't really enjoy about Tasty was that on a busy night at the back taps, the store's layout can make things a little congested. With so much fitting into such a snug space I can see how it might be difficult to set things up any other way but know that if you're there on a night with a freshly featured beer (and there are many nights like that!) you might have to go around the long way to get to whatever bottled deliciousness you seek. The Tasty guys certainly know their brews and can assist you with anything from finding the perfect Flemish sour (a personal favourite) to turning something as vague as a list of flavours you like into a beer recommendation and the often-rotating selection is certainly among the finest in Raleigh, and possibly the very best. You can find plenty of local breweries represented as well as a lot of hard-to-finds from all over the world in a variety of styles and price ranges. Domestic craft beers are on the left right when you walk in. In the center are foreign beers. And, on the far wall, there are fridges with cold-activated 40s, 6-packs, and growlers (fear not, there is actually no Coors Light). There's a whole fridge or two with local growlers. In the back, there's a bar with rotating taps with some of the owner's favorites. You could order a drink and then take it outside to the patio in front of the store. They have a permit that covers all the way in front of Jibarra. The plan is to add tables outside in front of the shop. Tasty Bev is Raleigh's answer to Sam's Quik Stop in Durham and will compete with Peace Street Market in Glenwood South. Don't miss the American Apparel T-shirts for sale at $20/each. A few of them feature the made up word "Chombers", which the owners thought was just a fun to say and it has evolved into their slogan. read more

A very cool place to grab a drink on a nice day. While the store itself isn't huge, it does feature a bar and several areas to drink inside. But when the weather is nice definitely take advantage of the nice weather and take your drink to the patio to socialize and enjoy the sun! The guy who helped me find a cider to drink was very nice, and offered me lot of suggestion. While not everything is kept cold, they are more than happy to chill something if you're heart is set on drinking it right then. Prices are also more in line with purchasing a bottle at a store rather than the up-charged bar price. I enjoyed a great cider for $3, which is a steal considering a pint is usually $5 or $6 at a normal bar. All in all I have a feeling I will be back to Tasty soon! I don't want to think about how much money I've gone through at Tasty Beverage over the past year. I really don't. Quantify that however you want, whether by dollars spent on great beer or bottles shared at random tastings in the darkness of a downtown Raleigh evening. My occasional visits last year became a twice-or-more per week habit that I don't anticipate breaking anytime soon. This is telling of Tasty's quality in a city that is bubbling over with new places to get your beer on. The store itself is unassuming: a bunch of wire racks in rows throughout with a wall of refrigerators on the far side; merchandise behind the small front counter and limited releases on it; and less than a dozen seats at the bar in the back. 32oz growlers can be filled by whoever is manning the bar, and a set of taps rotates daily through a variety of beer styles. You can even order food at the neighbor of the beast, Jose and Sons, and bring your lunch or dinner in to the bar and nosh while you gulp. Anyone staring blankly at the board shouldn't hesitate to ask or sample what's available, as Tasty's staff is unlikely to look at you funny if you plead the fifth about your beer knowledge. Craft beer has been accused of bordering on snobbishness of late, with its newly minted cicerones looking down on all the plebeians, but you won't find that here. And that's the fun of this place. They're laid back, they're knowledgeable, they're laid back about their knowledge, and they will not steer you wrong. A second mortgage, that's the trick. Or a first one, given I live in an apartment. In any case, some line of credit that can keep me coming here come hell or high watermelon. At the rate I'm going, I might need it. read more

The most inviting hipsters ever! I showed up one Monday night in a Ferrari jacket for the weekly beer and bike ride and everyone was still so friendly! They offer lots of suggestions for on tap and shelf beers and have something for even the most dedicated of wine drinkers. I seriously suggest you check this place out despite the plethora of brew establishments in the area. I was not much of a beer drinker prior to joining Yelp however my new lovely friends have beat it into me and one lovely place I now frequent is Tasty! The literal wonderland of beer packs quite a big punch with a vast selection on the shelf, in the fridge and then on tap it is a great place to try new things (Sticky Toffee Pudding ale) and revisit old favorites (Rubaeus Raspberry Ale). Mmmmmm, its nice to feel comfortable and at home in places that aren't and tasty really embodies this feeling of closeness and family. read more

I was passing through on my way to the beach and stopped off based upon Yelp recommendations; I am so glad I did. There are no stores in my hometown quite like this one. The only thing that gave me any pause is that they organize their beers based upon the country of origin. I know a good deal about a great many beers, but sometimes I am not sure where they all come from. I would prefer if the beers were instead organized by type (ie all the Doppelbocks together, all the Imperial Porters together, etc), but that's really just personal preference. Once I figured out how it worked, I was able to find what I needed. If I was lucky enough to live in Raleigh I would visit this store at least 2-3 times per week. No this was not my first visit how could it be this place is amazing. A beer lovers paradise and a bar where you can chill and have a conversation that's my kind of place. Tasty has a very wide selection of beer, ciders, and some local cheeses, and other local beverages you can purchase as well. The best part is you can drink anything that they have in the store right there while you shop, or sit up at the bar in the back. But what is even better is even if what you want to drink isn't chilled in their cooler just give it to one of the friendly staff members and they will chill it for you. You frosty cold beer will be ready to drink in 5 to 10 minutes. They also have rotating taps in the back that you can purchase to drink or even buy a growler. If your hungry bring your self some food or order from the fabulous Jose & Sons next door they will even deliver it to you! Tasty is by far one of my favorite bottle shops in the area and they continue to impress me with their selection. This is a great place to check out during the day or evening and grab a drink and hang out with some friends.
