I had the pleasure of eating in your establishment last evening. We were celebrating my wife's birthday. Our server was Kevin he is excellent. Not only the service he provides but his great personality. A couple comments on the food. We had salmon and the prime rib - both were outstanding. The potato soup which was a special, was extremely good - put it on as a nightly option. The brussel sprouts flavor was very good, but they would have been much better if they were shredded. Since the sprouts were crispy they were not cooked all the way through. The chocolate birthday cake topped off the evening! My wife was very happy. read more

The white Buffalo offers a wonderful view of Black Hawk, that is mainly why we chose this restaurant over the Ameristar steakhouse. Most of the staff is friendly as well. The reason why I felt obligated to leave such a low rating was due to the severly undercooked chicken my friend was served in her chicken cordon bleu. After eating a few bites, she came across what she described as a jelly like substance. I examined it and was shocked.. the chicken was completely raw in the center. The server did offer to bring something else but she had lost her appetite. They did remove the chicken off our bill which was expected but we never received a visit from the manager which I thought was very odd. No one there seemed shocked at the quality of the food. I probably won't return which is sad because the view is really beautiful. read more

Where do we start. The lady at the front bar made a great set of Martini's. We were delayed for our 6:30 Friday reservation. I-70 traffic is terrible. We called to reschedule and were tol only 2 times were available. 6:45 and 7:45. Nothing else. We took 7:45. We arrived and were seated after getting above said Martinis. The restaurant was virtually deserted. Hummmmm. We ordered the Ahi, 2 wedge salads as a small fillet Oscar and a regular larger Filet. We made it clear to eh waitress that we wanted a medium rare set of steaks. And she acknowledged that. Our appetizer was brought out. And closely after the Salead (before we could even conceive of having finished the appetizer). We started our salad and the the steaks arrived. We were 3 bites into our salad. My wifes steak was at best med well and thin. No real crab meat for the Oscar part. Not good for $50. My steak was ok but you could tell it was a lower meat cut. I shared with my wife as hers was like leather. We brought this to the attention of the waitress and she had to inspect it with a flashlight. She took it back and offered free dessert. By that time it was not worth it. My wife went to find the manager and after talking to him for a few he talked over/down to her and came to the table. After further discussion they did remove her steak and the drinks from the bill. I give him that. But we should NOT have had to deal with that on a weekend away. I mean a few 7$ desserts vs. a $50 dinner? They have to improve and get better. We will not be back and do not recommend this restaurant. read more

Visited the Grille on 27 Sept 2018 The wife had the shrimp - the only comment was they were too large - most came home. I had the special: walleye w/orange sauce - excellent flavor - the only issue was the small size of the serving. The soup special of the day is a keeper! We went here last night and ordered the honey bourbon salmon and the NY strip steak. Both were incredible but the steak was out of this world! The mashed potatoes are so good. We ordered a side of the chef's vegetables and thought it would just be steamed mixed veggies but it was a great serving of green beans with sliced almonds. Everything was super tasty. We tried to make a reservation for 7pm but they said they could only do 7:15. Not a big deal but when we got there, there were a ton of open tables so it was a little weird. I love this restaurant. I've had the Panko Shrimp, Lamb Chops, Steak, Pasta, and others that don't come to mind right now. They were all very good. I also recommend the Crab Cake appetizer and the side of mushrooms. All of the wait staff have been attentive and friendly. The ambiance is decent and the jazz background music is a very nice touch. We dine at the White Buffalo every month for a small family gathering because my mother loves the slots. The food here is consistent and always prepared to the temperature of our liking. A favorite is the crab cake appetizer. Delicious steaks, lamb chops, burgers and the petite lobster is delicate and sweet. The sides and desserts are pleasing. The staffing is hospitable and accommodating. We particularly have enjoyed the times that Stephen was our server and made our visits fun and special. read more

We've had dinner here multiple times, usually it's because we don't want to wait in the buffet line, somehow, we've always got a table even without reservations. The environment is classy and bright, not the usual dark stuffy place you might expect for a steakhouse. We loved the view, the tables are basically on an glass enclosed bridge crossing the busy street scene below. Food-wise, we've never had a bad meal here, lamb is my favorite but the steaks, pork, chicken, fish dishes were all good too. I've always been too full after the salad/soup, main course and sides so I really have no ideas how the desserts taste but the presentation of the ones I've seen is great. Price-wise, it's not cheap, about what you'd expect for a steakhouse but the quality is worth it. I don't know how this compares to other steakhouses in the area, with the consistent service that we've seen, there's been no need to check out the other. read more

Great meal with friends. All steaks were cooked to perfection, my piccata was yummy, desserts awesome, and our waiter, Steven, was exceptional. The "Gumbo" was NOT a gumbo, more of a chili tomato soup. Yuck! Love the quiet ambiance and pleasant view. We always enjoy this restaurant! read more

The White Buffalo Grill on the 3rd floor of The Lodge Casino is one of the best restaurants in Blackhawk. The decor is pleasant, the service excellent and the food is consistently very good. All the wait staff do a good job but Ramon is a real class act. The servings are large so we can many times share items and some of the simple offerings are inexpensive and excellent. I can make a meal of French Onion Soup and a Shrimp Cocktail and my wife usually has a Caesar Salad and Soup.. But then we are old. The steaks etc. look wonderful but more than we can handle. What a find! The best restaurant in Blackhawk with a great menu and excellent service! Minestrone soup, Tournedos Oscar with asparagus and the rice special of the day, classic martini (filled to the brim!). With tip just over $50 and worth every penny! First things first, when you're in Black Hawk, meal choices are pretty pathetic. White Buffalo has been a winner in the past (except the times we forgot to make reservations), so this trip, we made sure we had rsvp! When we arrived on a Tuesday night, no resv was needed, very, very slow. Made me nervous, because my experience is that everything falls through the cracks on slow nights. Our service was adequate and friendly. I ordered the prime rib and my husband ordered chicken cordon bleu or kiev (not sure). Anyway, prime rib was tasteless, mashed potatoes were plated first so they were 1/3 hard, 1/2 cold, 1/3 luke warm. I returned those for a baked potato. When the butter doesn't melt right away, you know there is a problem. The server did not recommend the asparagus or the chef's vegetables, so I jumped in to the creamed corn (corn with butter and milk). Our dinner took longer than usual to arrive apparently because the chicken was made from scratch. Seriously? That meal was mediocre as well. The server did offer us desserts to go so quickly as a remedy that is seemed routine. The desserts we chose were the cheesecake and it was the best part of the meal, next to the Malbec wine. Living in Denver, I'm very frustrated that Black Hawk and Central City can't seem to get their at together. Not everyone wants a buffet, or a mediocre sandwich. Not everyone wants to gamble no stop. They would do well with some nice restaurants, a couple of chains that are predictable (Wendy's, McD, BK, Chick fil A) and some shopping or small theater? Not a great place to visit. read more

We have been to the white buffalo several times as it was a tradition of ours. We enjoyed their food up until this most recent experience which was HORRIBLE to say the very least. We made reservations for my wife's birthday and arrived early to an overpacked waiting area at the white buffalo entrance. We waited for over ten minutes to be helped only to be barged in front of by a very rude woman which was allowed by the staff at white buffalo. When we finally spoke with a hostess about our reservation she said she didn't know when we could be seated and that they were 'waiting for service' and that they had to prepare for several larger parties that night, with people seated about a mostly empty the restaurant and staff working on the line and at the bar. We were a party of two. We continued to wait unacknowledged for several more minutes and felt that our reservation would not be honored. After we were certain of this and very very disappointed we went to Last Shot in Black Hawk for pizza instead. We live up here and will not be returning to this restaurant where reservations for less money are not honored. Never in my adult life have I ever felt so disrespected by restaurant staff. We'll be sure to bad mouth white buffalo every chance we get, but with service like that they won't be around for long. read more

Five of us stayed at The Lodge last weekend and ate at the White Buffalo Grille Friday evening. Our service was great with a very friendly waiter. We all ordered something different and all loved the food. I ordered the prime rib and couldn't believe the size of the cut and it was cooked perfectly. I've been coming here since the Lodge opened. For years White Buffalo was excellent, with great service and quality. Not now. Because I receive generous coupons, I've tried going three times for dinner since the remodel. I will not return, nor will anyone in my family. It makes us sad to see how much this place has gone downhill. It used to the highlight of our trip and a place where we celebrated birthdays. Food quality is now mediocre, and the preparation missed during all three dinners (9 dishes, 3 people each dinner) and the service was horrible. Food cold, lobster served with some gross fake 'butter' and on and on. Steaks were mixed up, sauces on the wrong ones cooked opposite of what the person ordered, cold potatoes, limp, leftover looking salad and vegetables and no offer to make it right from the server. The only good thing on the menu now is the bread. HORRIBLE dinner, a server with zero personality with long, long stringy ponytail hair that just missed dragging in food - tie it ALL up! This female server should be working the buffet bussing tables, NOT serving in a dinner restaurant. We thought it might be an off night the first time, but three bad experiences three times in a row? White Buffalo is ruined. Even with a free meal, we will NOT be returning. Ameristar, we are bringing our $$ over to you. read more

We had a party of 4 we ate there 3/25/2019 wife got a over cooked steak with the oscar option it had shells in the crab i had prime rib which was way over cooked and cold,all the sides were bland was not impressed for the first and probably last time waiter was slow and acted like we were not there,and the other 2 in the party had cold and cooked wrong food as well.would expect alot better food and service for 250 dinner should of left when we walked in and the party sitting next to us was complaining. read more

The prime rib was tough and not cooked correctly. We sent one back and it still came out over cooked, and by the time we got it back, the other people in our party were mostly done eating. It was STILL over cooked and looked as though the manager had just poured au jus over it to make it look better. Our waitress, Tracy, hardly checked on us, and the dirty tables surrounding us took 45 minutes to clean. Such a shame as we were celebrating a birthday. We will not ever go back. read more

A group of 5 of us made reservations for 7:30 (Saturday Night). When we showed up, we had to wait almost a 1/2 hour for our table. Once we got seated, service was fine. I had the Tournedoes Oscar. I ordered it medium rare and got well done. Barely any crab. The good thing was that I wasn't the one paying for it. If so, I may have gone to 2 stars. Luckily, the guy that "paid" for our group pretty much had everything comped because he spends so much time there. Next time, I'll check out other restaurant options. read more

Ugh. I wanted so badly to love this place. We went for my birthday dinner and it was incredibly underwhelming. Our server was very nice, but super slow. Our drinks took forever -- unreasonably long for one martini and a bottle of beer. Then when our soup and salad came, my soup was ice cold, like it had been sitting there for quite a while. On top of that, it was supposed to be tomato basil soup but tasted heavily of curry. Very strange. For the entrees my husband ordered the Prime Burger and I had the Voodoo Shrimp. My husband said the burger was overcooked and drowned in Thousand Island dressing. He said he's had better burgers at Chili's. Pretty disappointing at a $21 price point. My shrimp pasta dish was okay. The homemade noodles were the best part but for $31... I wanted more of them. The portion was way too small. I appreciated the complimentary birthday dessert but again, it tasted like something I could have purchased at the grocery store bakery. I'm glad we didn't pay the $7 menu price for it. All in all, the experience just doesn't justify the high prices here. read more

White Buffalo Grille is a great alternative to buffet food and long buffet lines! Our family (5 of us) dined there Sunday 7/23/17 to celebrate a family member's birthday. Set in a beautiful atmosphere with fantastic views, food was outstanding, all staff were friendly and our waiter Kevin took good care of us from start to finish as he managed other large groups of diners. I want to thank the White Buffalo Grille staff for making the birthday celebration a very relaxing experience allowing our family time to talk, joke, laugh and have a truly good time. I've never had a bad meal here, one of our favorite places to eat in Black Hawk. Neither Blackhawk nor Central City offer a lot in the way of fine dining which helps the White Buffalo Grille to stand out. Service has always been great and the food always good. If you get an opportunity I would definitely stop in at the White Buffalo Grille. It's nice to be able to enjoy dinner by the windows, or by the fireplace in cool weather. read more

We are long time customers of the WBG. We were there for this past Valentine's Day and noticed a definite improvement in service and the overall experience. Something has changed! We were becoming somewhat disappointed in the never changing menu and the increasingly disinterest of the wait staff. lately, there has been a definite improvement, the meal we had for V Day was really wonderful. We came here on a Monday and it was absolutely delicious! I got the crab stuffed shrimp with brussel sprouts and pork belly Mac and cheese. My boyfriend got the sirloin with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious! Our waiter, Steven was incredible. He was attentive and enjoyable. By far the best restaurant of any of the mountain casino's. We eat here several times per month and we have never had a bad experience! The service is always great and the food outstanding!
