When you pay $47 for a pizza, you expect it to be at least somewhat decent. I should have read the other reviews first because my experience was almost identical to theirs. I was told 15 to 20 minutes and arrived right at the 20 minute mark, but it was obvious the pizza had been sitting there much longer. It was served up ice cold. Even the dollops of ricotta tasted like they were added after the pizza was made, straight from the refrigerator. I am not exaggerating when I say ice cold, despite parts of the pizza being burnt. The edges of the crust were burnt, not in a good wood fired way with flavor, but just hard, overcooked, and inedible. While the toppings were generous, the pizza itself was extremely dry, just like others have mentioned. As I waited, I could see into the kitchen and noticed they were using pre made crusts, basically the kind you would grab at a grocery store when you do not feel like making your own. Charging $47 for that? No thanks. I hate wasting food, but we could not even finish this pizza. It was that bad. That is on me for not checking reviews beforehand. We should have just stuck with our usual spot, Grand Pizza, which happened to be closed for mud season. The difference in quality is night and day. I just want to warn others before they make the same mistake and waste their money like I did. Definitely will not be back. read more

Very few places to get a good bourbon pour in Grand Lake, but this has the best offering that i saw. Came in to watch a game, enjoyed the saddle seats at the bar, the bartender was friendly and quick to help. I enjoyed some toasted ravioli, which was unique to me, so right up my alley. The town caters to tourist, no exception here, but a decent place to enjoy a meal. read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. When we first sat down, we were the only ones in the restaurant. It took 10 minutes for them to take our drink order. No sweat, maybe they're getting organized. Get our drinks 10 minutes later, little delayed but we had a mixed shot so ok fair play. As soon as drinks are dropped off, we order two pizzas. One large specialty, one personal cheese. An hour goes by and we don't even see another server by our table. We would love to at least get more drinks, but no servers in sight. 10 minutes later we have had enough, I go to the bar to tab out and ask for the pizza to go, this is when the server notifies me our two pizzas haven't even been started. Great. 86 them off the bill and let me pay for our drinks. 1.5 hours of my life I won't get back and a not great start to the July 4th weekend. Go to The World's End Brewpub instead. My family and I made the mistake of coming here about an hour before they open for the day and he invited us in and decided to "make it work" to feed us! This was a disappointing place - we walked in around 8pm and ordered three pizzas and some beers. They started closing down the restaurant while we were still there and hadn't received our food. Lisa B fraudulently tipped herself $40 with my credit card. We placed a $400 order to feed 30 people a week in advance for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Lisa B took the order and taped it next to the register. I arrived to pick up the pizza, and Lisa had completely forgot about the order. She quickly blamed her boss Patrick but then found the order still taped next to the register. She had to close the kitchen for an hour to make the pizzas. I came back an hour later, picked up and paid for the food. I did not tip them because Lisa forgot our order, and 30 people angrily waited an hour at a party for dinner. As we were eating at the rehearsal dinner, Lisa called the bride and said I did not tip her and asked for money. We told her she gave poor service and hung up. Lisa then added $40 to the bill anyway and processed the charge. The pizza itself was good, but half of them were not hot by the time we received them. We have to eat gluten free crust because my husband has celiac. They had some of the best gluten free pizza we've ever had! The toppings were plentiful (especially the cheese)! They even have gluten free beer (Holidaily). The service was prompt and friendly and the music was fun (all genres over the decades). Highly recommend!! read more

Grand Lake in general is a pricey place, and White Buffalo is no different. That being said I don't mind their pizza. I definitely had better and definitely worse. If the lines for the other restaurants in town are super long, it might be worth a try. One thing they do right is the amount of toppings on the pie. They load it up. read more

Last night I ordered a large pizza with sausage on only half of it (my fiancé is vegetarian). The pizza and salad and the tip I gave came out to over $60.. I would never normally spend that much on two people but that's totally acceptable for a vacation town. I have no problem with the price. However, when we got back to our rental cabin, we discovered sausage was covering the entire pizza and so my fiancé couldn't eat dinner. No big deal. Very disappointing, but I thought, I'll go up there tomorrow and ask them to make it right and we'll call it good. Today we went back downtown at lunchtime and I asked if she could get a free small cheese pizza. They said there was no manager on site so the best they could do was 50% off. Totally unacceptable. I don't blame the employees I interacted with or whoever put sausage on the whole pizza. Mistakes happen, it's ok. But my advice for the owner- have a manager present or give employees the power to fix people's orders when they're meal is ruined. Otherwise you end up with a Yelp review like this. read more

We were in town for vacation and stumbled upon White Buffalo Pizza since it was one of the only restaurants in town open during the off season. It was quite empty except for our party of six and a few locals at the bar watching various sports games. There was only one man behind the bar but he was attentive and accommodating to us. We ordered a build your own pizza, a mango habanero pizza (delicious but the habaneros were SUPER hot, eat at your own risk), and two customized calzones. The pizzas were about $23 a piece and only fed two people which in my experience is on the higher end for but were worth every penny. The crusts were buttery, garlicky, and arguably as good as the pizza itself! The kitchen staff made a mistake on the cheese of one of the customized calzones and immediately made a new one before the dish even came out. It was our server who informed us of the mistake and apologized profusely. We wouldn't have even known about it! All in all, great experience! read more

Didn't know until today someone could screw up making a pizza. This had to be the worst pizza I have ever eaten in my many years walking on this planet. Totino's out of a box is a million times better. I don't understand the reviews raving about how good the pizza is; maybe we came in on an off night? The crust was too loose to hold a piece but too tough to cut with a knife-how is that possible? There was no way to eat it comfortably. The toppings, the meats, I couldn't tell what they were, the were so dry and burned, it seriously looked like small bits of charcoal. But the worst part was the saltiness. It tasted like what I assume a salt lick would taste like. My husband loves salt and even he was shocked by how salty it was. The pizza was inedible. I didn't even finish one piece and my husband only ate one piece which is unheard of. We didn't complain, just politely paid our bill and left. I've learned when in a small mountain towns you don't aggravate the locals. The service wasn't bad, our female server was actually pretty nice therefore the 2 stars. read more

Friends and I went here after getting in late to Grand Lake. The reviews weren't the best so I was a little skeptical but I am very happy we went here. It seems like they have recently reopened and revamped their pizza. We had the pizza with buffalo sauce, sundried tomatoes, and bacon and we tried their cheesy bread. And we were all very pleasantly surprised with how good both things were. Crust was thin and crispy without being too crunchy and the flavors on the pizza all worked really well together. Went there twice this week while we were in town. Had individual pizzas and salads Wednesday night, delicious!!! We went there again tonight and they were offering calzones, up to four toppings plus a drink, special. What great calzones!!!! They had just the right amount of dough for a calzone, and there were plenty of toppings in each one. They were hot, hugh, and very delicious!. They are baked in a brick oven. I really wish they were in our town, if they were they would be packed every night. I would highly recommend this place for pizzas and especially calzones. The atmosphere is great too. read more

Grumpy's is the best bar in Grand Lake hands down and I am happy to give them their first Yelp review! Great drinks, good food, friendly bartenders, live music, plenty of games to keep you entertained. They have shuffle board, pool tables, foosball, darts, cornhole, and some arcade games too! There is an upstairs area that offers more seating and I believe it has outdoor seating too. There is a great vibe at this bar and it is a very mixed crowd. Young and old, locals and tourists, all are welcome. It's simply a great bar in a great town. I can't wait to come back! read more

I haven't written a Yelp review since 2013. That should tell you something. Dave the bartender/server was super friendly and working hard. That said, very little liquor was harmed in the making of tonight's cocktails. The food -- wow, it was exceptionally bad. We ordered a medium pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms and 45 minutes later it came out lukewarm with the edges burned. The cheese was congealed and plastic. What we overheard from Dave telling a local who picked up four to go was that they are all frozen cheese-only food service (Sysco or the like) and when ordered they pull one out of the freezer, throw on the toppings, sprinkle a little extra cheese, and bake. That's right, you're getting served a tricked-out freezer pizza -- just like you used to make in. Illegal when you were high AF. Except you weren't high because the drinks were all mixer and melted ice. read more
