To a visitors eye, it would be as if the entire Pennsylvania Amish country came to Brooklyn, minus the horse drawn buggies. My neighbor, Mr. Chen, a 30 year member of our tightly knit Forest Hills street took ill four months ago, and I had slight reservations (mixed emotions) about going to see him even though we spent a lot of time together over the years. A stroke hit him quite hard and I was told that it severely hampered his memory, that he does not speak and that he mostly confined to rolling chairs and mechanical beds. Nursing homes always feel like Gods waiting room to me, they sadden me as the next step seems so near. Attached tubes to veiny bodies, hollowed screams down long halls and the empty eyes fluttering about are all abound. Bedford is smaller in scale, attendees and health care workers are on the go, room to room, activity to meals, smiles beaming when they look up to greet you. I found this to be the continuous theme from my arrival to my departure and the end result? Peaceful minds, content eyes, friends and family's gratitude. She had not prepared for our appointment, but the team called me 30 mins before the appointment to ask if my insurance was valid (this was a follow up 10 days from the first appointment). You'd think they would want to make sure everything was ready. The doctor didn't know what she was talking about and told me essentially to come back if my numbers are in the diabetic range. Not interested in prevention only the cure where money can be made. When I got a bill from them in December, I was wondering how the amount made sense. I called my insurance and learned they didn't even bill for the follow up yet someone had asked my credit card number for the copay. So the insurance company had to call them to get it billed on my behalf. They are now sending me a bill still that is incorrect. Thankfully I didn't pay in cash but used my card and have a documented receipt. Because they are claiming I owe them copays that I've clearly already paid.

The care and treatment exceeded my recovery goals and expectations to where I've been able to start progressing and building up to sports activity (golfing, tennis, throwing a ball) after 5 months post-op and now confident to return to sports. Nicole was knowledgeable, able to answer all the questions I had, and carefully listed to any concerns I had throughout the treatment. The treatment plan involved hands-on manual therapy, stretching, exercises, and specialized equipment. The facility is well maintained, clean, and welcoming. It is well equipped and we were able to work through a variety of exercises and treatments that I would not have been able to do at home.
