White House Catering catered a wedding I attended with about two hundred guests at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum. Everything was superb, beginning with the cocktail hour and hor d'oeuvres after the wedding and before the meal. A wide range of cocktails and non alcoholic beverages were served and the cocktails were good. Ahi tacos, roasted tri tip crostini, Beef Wellington and smoked salmon toast were served. The Ahi tacos and smoked salmon toast were the hits. The Beef Wellington and Tri Tip crostini were distanced by the seafood offerings. The main meal compromised a fresh salad in some sort of shell with dried apricot slivers, thinly sliced apples with a passion fruit vinaigrette that was delicious. The main course was string beans and carrots in a garlic butter sauce that accompanied the duo of jumbo shrimp in a scampi sauce and a generous fillet mignon au poivre with the garlic mashed potatoes. They somehow managed not to have the shrimp arrive on the plate overcooked and the fillet arrived at a medium temperature, still juicy and nothing tough. Everything arrived on the table at a warm temperature. The sweet tooth was satisfied with a variety of offerings: cheesecake, mango cake, mini fruit tarts and Creme Brulee. The Creme Brulee was the star of the show in the dessert lineup. Accompanied by coffee or tea and I was good. The coffee was no afterthought. Nothing was actually. I unfortunately failed to take a photo of any of this goodness, but you can rely on this caterer for your most momentous occasions. 4.5 stars read more

Coming to Christ Cathedral on a Friday evening, I had no expectations. It was a dinner celebrating important women of the year in their respective churches in the Diocese of Orange. However, I would have to say I was looking forward to the evening festivities, especially the culinary offerings. Little did I know, I was in for a culinary delight rivaling michelin star restaurant. The first offering was the contemporary green salad. It consisted of Baby greens & romaine, dried apricots, sliced apples, cherry tomatoes, and passion fruit vinaigrette. The sliced apples were refreshing. I certainly polished off the plate due to the yummy passion fruit vinaigrette. Next was the main entree of the night, the big "bahooga," if you will. The Mediterranean chicken consisted of oven-roasted chicken breast in a spinach, tomato, lemon, white wine & butter sauce. I had filet mignon at Christ Cathedral before and it was a bit dry. This chicken was moist with a creamy white wine and butter sauce that went well with the texture of the rice that was cooked perfectly. It had an umami, savory flavor that complements well with the rice. Additionally, the same sauce highlighted the contrast of carrot texture, elevating this dish to a Michelin-star quality meal. The strawberry shortcake was good but a bit sweet. However, I would still give it 4.5/5 stars as it paired nicely with the decaffeinated coffee that was offered. This is probably the first time that my eyes deceived me, thinking this would be an ordinary culinary experience because the food offerings looked so simple. However, the taste of each dish has left me wanting more as it tantalized my palate. It would be a lie to say I didn't polish off every plate. My only critique: Please sharpen your knives. They were all dull. Half the table were elderly and couldn't cut the chicken. I, myself, a 36 year old male, resorted to tearing the chicken apart with the knife by pulling it apart as the knife couldn't do an incision. Scalpels at this point would be better. read more

Did they over deliver! Full bellies with salad, mushroom chicken, mashed potatoes, creamy pasta with pancetta (thank God, no peas!), dinner rolls, chocolate covered strawberries for dessert. When Christ Cathedral told us they were only using White House Catering as their sole food vendor, we were initially disappointed that we wouldn't be able to get a Vietnamese banquet. However, they do offer a Vietnamese banquet menu! We were told that they had a partnership with Top Catering to service their Asian clientele. That's when we decided to take a leap of faith and book them. We are so happy we did! Their service was impeccable. Amine, Ana, and Chef Laurent were all easy to work with and responsive. Everyone told me how kind and helpful their staff was on the day of the wedding. We didn't know this, but our package came with h' orderves (meatballs, chicken skewers, etc.). All were absolutely delicious! To top it off, they also served macarons at the end. White House took our wedding to another level. There isn't enough words to describe how amazing WHC is! My husband and I got married at the Nixon and although, we had outside food catering, we still had to obtain the service and bar for the day. At first, we were taken back because we had to pay additional funds for WHC instead of just going through our food caterer for their service and beverages. Boy, were we wrong, we would spend unlimited amount of money additionally for WHC. Throughout the process, we worked with Katie and Ana and they both were so incredibly sweet, nice, accommodating to the max, and professional. My husband and I were not only incredibly impressed by them but the entire bar/staff on our wedding day. Not only were we talking about how great they were our entire wedding guests were raving about them nonstop! Our table looked fabulous, the plates and utensils were so top notched. ATTENTION to everyone! First of all, I want to say that White House catering blocked my husband and me on IG after our wedding because we complained about their horrible service when we spent thousands on them for our wedding. I just want to help out those who are planning on booking with them. New brides who are as new as me. This may or may not happen to you, but it definitely happened to me. This was extremely difficult and stressful to have to experience after being newlyweds. Hearing the awful stories of what my guests were experiencing. This review has been long overdue... we just feel so robbed. We spent so much money on this vendor. The most out of all the vendors. We got married on 2.22.22. If anyone is ever considering Richard Nixon as their vendor, please reconsider when you book Richard Nixon Library because they require you to go through White House Catering, even though we wanted to pay and bring in our own catering services. (You may call them up yourself and verify). Everything was great up until the day of the wedding. The day of the wedding the service was a DISASTER. The waiters were quick to clean up the plates of food. If you or anyone that knows someone who has ever been to an Asian wedding, we come out with 8 courses of meals one after another... during the courses of our meals we had guests that got up to go to the restroom or go to different tables to greet friends or the bar.. during those times they took away the uneaten food. Just because we get up and there are no guests at the moment does not give the right for the servers from White House Catering to throw away the food because our guests wanted to come back and eat it later, they did not even offer to TOGO these dishes for my guests. This was one of the biggest complaints from my guests and friends!! On top of that, my guests were saying that the bartenders were not giving drinks to our guests even though we paid for the liquor... it's White House Catering's responsibility to hire people with the HIGHEST level of customer service especially when you are about to put down THOUSANDS to perfect your wedding and I'm sure some may relate. Bartenders refused to give my guests drinks unless if they tipped. Of course, my guests tipped, but being forced to tip is just so dam rude. We paid for a premium open bar and also brought in our own bottles of Hennessey VSOP because that wasn't included in the premium open bar. My mother was forced to tip and talked to in a nasty way "I don't care if you're the mother of the bride, tip!" My guests also witnessed the bartenders packing away bottles of the leftover VSOP Hennessey bottles at the end of the night when the open bar ended. When our wedding coordinator asked them for the leftover bottles they said there were none left. Instead of doing a thorough investigation of the bartenders/waiters of what happened at our wedding night. White House Catering accused us of lying, blocked us on Instagram, and advise us to speak with their lawyers. We were not trying to make any accusations, especially after our big day. Who in the world would want to go through all this unnecessary stress? So I am putting it out there for everyone to know and made aware that this situation could happen to you because it seems they just hire anyone to work and does not take any accountability. White House Catering needs to be more contingent on who they hire especially when we are paying them $$$$$$$ for their services!!!! read more

We had our wedding at Christ Cathedral and wanted to have a traditional Vietnamese multi-course meal. We were so happy to learn that Chef Laurent had took it upon himself to learn how to make these dishes. In the past, I believe they contracted outside restaurants, but Chef Laurent told us he wanted to make the dishes himself. Initially, I was a little concerned but when my parents, husband and I taste tested our menu, we were super impressed. We all thought it was the best wedding meal we've ever eaten. He uses real crab meat for the crab soup! The fried rice was impeccably done in the traditional way with Chinese sausage. My husband's favorite was the walnut shrimp which was crispy with the perfect amount of glaze. I loved how he prepared the lobsters so that they were easy to eat. We didn't get to eat much on our wedding day, but we kept hearing from our guests that it was the best wedding food they have ever had. One of our groomsmen said "The food was amazing! I've been to a lot of weddings and the food at your wedding was the best I've had." And we can confirm he's been to a lot of weddings so that says a lot! WHC also gave us an option to bring in our own liquor to cut on cost. This allowed us to buy drinks we know our guests would like. It also allowed us to make our signature drinks the way we make it at home. We simply gave the bartenders the recipes and our drinks came out perfect! Thanks WHC for being part of our special day. We were nervous about the food since most of the guests had picky palates and we had family visiting from Taiwan who prefer lighter and less oily foods. Once we booked with the Nixon Library, we were given a choice of 2 caterers that we could use. I was a bit worried when I found this out, as I wasn't sure I wanted to be boxed in with specific vendors. White House catering was by far our favorite choice. Katie was a dream to work with. She answered all of my questions, helped me plan out "Operation Keep Grandma Nice", and was just a great person to be able to work with. The staff on the day of were fabulous too. The server for our sweetheart table was the sweetest - constantly kept checking in on us to make sure we didn't need anything, and was always nearby in case we did. We used them to do the catering for our wedding. They did not provide the food, just the servers, bar, bartender etc. The girls who work there (Anna and Mary) are very nice and you can tell they care about your event. The servers and everyone were ok too (not sure if its worth the $40 per person they serve JUST for servers and setup, but they were ok) One star rating because we had paid for premium bar and I had asked for cheap liquor NOT to even be displayed since we paid for an open bar, all premium liquor. Half way through my wedding I realized they were serving Kettle One vodka and a bunch of other cheap liquor. When I complained to manager the next day he said "we wanted your guests to have options" - who wants Jose Cuervo when we paid for Patron???? I had asked 3 times to ensure they would not be serving the cheap stuff and make guests ASK for premium liquor, and they assured me that wouldn't happen. It did. We also had a discrepancy in how much we owe. They told at the end of night that we owed about $1000 more than the $14000 we had paid them JUST for bar and servers. They said several drinks were served after open bar cutoff. We clarified that they were ordered before open bar closed (which btw we paid for 4.5 hours open bar), but the bartender took FOREVER to make them. The head server guy literally threw the bill in our (bride and grooms) face and walked away angry. This was in front of the guests that hadn't left yet, one person even got this on tape. VERY VERY sad, and if I could do it again I may not have my wedding at the Nixon Library because this is the only approved catering company... read more

We were debating having a morning wedding or an evening wedding, but the man over the phone told us they were both the same price so we just decided to do dinner. Most of our transactions were over the phone, so when we set the price for dinner we spoke with a man who worked for White House and we agreed on a price, signed the contract, and paid our balance in full. DAYS before our wedding we received a call from them telling us they raised our prices and we had a significant balance left to pay. We used Whitehouse Catering for our event this week and it was a wonderful experience! Not only was the food plentiful for the price but when we had far more guests than expected they went out of their way to ensure everyone was fed and rolled out extra tables for our guests to be seated, all with a smile on their faces. From the very start, they were very responsive and quick in answering any of my questions regarding their packaged meals and options. After having picked them for our caterers for our wedding day, they treated us to our meal tasting, while making us feel welcome and like family as we personalized our meal. At this point I had only worked with Mary and she would always email back and call me to make sure to clarify any selections I had made. She personally made me feel like I wasn't dealing with just a catering company but one that really cared about making my wedding day special. As we moved further into our wedding planning, I got to meet Ana and Kathryn. These two individuals helped make sure all last minute arrangements were just as I had wanted. They took care of seating, dietary restrictions and even helped us out when last minute guests canceled. When it came to the wedding day, they made sure to greet us and our wedding party to congratulate us with our drink choice. They made sure we also had cocktails as we waited to go into the Nixon Library. We defiantly felt Presidential.
