My family ordered boxed meals for some events we had over the last few years and the experiences were always great. The food was packaged so beautifully and were ready for us when we'd come to pick them up. My guests always wanted to know where we go the food from. The best we tried was the chicken tuscany on croissants! I used to come here every so often to enjoy the Sunday brunch buffet. Having just discovered this gem over the holidays, my in-laws insisted on bringing us here when we swung by early this year to pass them their belated Christmas gift. I'm not sure if this is anything besides a catering business outside of Sundays but on Sundays, we feast. And Chef's Catering does brunch. So brunch it was. We were seated by the waitress (who apparently was new) and she offered to give us a rundown of the menu, or rather buffet spread. That Sunday was Latin fare (we were a week early for French fare, sadly) and she explained each dish to us. Drink options were offered (first glass of champagne is on the house) along with a couple made-to-order items such as waffles and omelettes. At 11AM, we were a little more than hungry for brunch and everything looked amazing, we couldn't wait to dig in. In all honesty, I preferred the breakfast fare best - I piled my plate high with frittatas and pastries, slightly afraid that I'd be too full for the lunch section but I had on my trusty flow-y skirt whose sole purpose was to hide that food baby (I come prepared). The lunch section was pretty decent - I loved the taco salad shells, shrimp ceviche, guacamole, and fish though the other meats weren't quite as flavorful or tender as I would've liked. And as for the desserts (churros, rice pudding, and mousse), though gorgeous, weren't quite to my liking. From what my foodie Yelp Elite girlfriend told me they do have a buffet breakfast/brunch but since COVID-19 operation was halted. I opted to have the tri-tip, egg omelette and fried potatoes. The tri-tip was exceptionally tender; topped with onions and mushrooms, the omelette was moist, golden and cooked to perfection, my potatoes fried to golden perfection. It was pure love on my plate. The tri-tip is so tender that you don't even need a knife! It's that crazy tender and so succulent. I ordered the cheese roll beef roast sandwich for my husband and he absolutely loved it. I absolutely love this place. The ordering process was very simple! I ordered over the phone. I had to call back to add some additional meals and then again to change one of them to a vegetarian meal. Joanne was very patient throughout the process. I ordered 21 boxed lunches for a drive-by party we threw. I came to pick up the food at 10:30AM on a Sunday, which is when I requested the meals be ready. I showed up at 10:30AM and was in and out within 5 minutes or so. Joanne wrapped up the boxes in plastic wrap in front of me to ensure I knew everything was there. So I reached out to chefs catering for my bridal shower event of 25 people. Chef Abdalla told me to come in to taste the food and send me beautiful pictures of displays of their buffet appetizers. The food sounded so good and the displays were so pretty that I wanted to move forward and set a date. He told me that I'm paying more per person doing apps rather than just serving a lunch but I told him no worries that's the style of small plates I want to serve so the price isn't a breaking point for me. I also agreed to pay for the food tasting cause that's reasonable to do. I reached out 3 days before food tasting to see if the time can be 5 pm instead of 4 pm. He called me and said "I cannot go your tasting at all not even the original time because I am very busy. Take the job or leave the job. I don't have time for this. Have a good day. Bye." I am APPALLED at the behavior of such a large company who lack basic mannerisms of how to deal with clients. Obviously since my order was not tens of thousands of dollars, I don't matter to them. Delicious, professional and reasonably priced catering for 15 people or more and my new go-to caterer. Used Chef's catering to cater a holiday home party, where I desired an elegant holiday buffet. First of all the company was the most professional and accommodating than any that I called in Orange County, taking my order very easily with a straightforward invoice. I had both vegetarians and celiac guests who needed gluten-free options, which they happily accommodated for the chicken entree. I didn't need set-up or serving, and they had a very effective pick-up option, which saved on costs. Joanne or Abdul was very responsive, always answering phone or emails with any questions that I had and very kindly. They have several appetizing menus with all components accounted for for a reasonable price per person: Beautiful salad, bread rolls, a card option, vegetables and the protein. I ordered the holiday menu with chicken Florentine, garlic mashed potatoes and the seasonal vegetables. It was all very delicious and tasted home cooked. Even in the garlic mashed potatoes, it was wonderfully seasoned and fresh. They even kindly threw in a plate of Christmas cookies! For pick-up, what impressed me the most was the handling of the food. They cooked it piping hot to order and packed it in food trays that can fit in chafing dishes. They wrapped it in saran wrap, foil and then they encased it in a styrofoam box. When it arrived at the house, it was still piping hot as a result. This means that if you don't have buffet-ware at home, you can still serve this food fresh and hot with no problems. It was presented beautifully. With all of that, the food was perfectly cooked and moist, not overcooked in the least bit. And after spending a few hours in chafing dishes, it was still moist and delicious till the end. Every Sunday is a different theme. So far I've tried the brazilian theme, latin theme, and Valentine's day theme. The attention to detail is impeccable. There is a professionalism and poise about everything in this brunch. From the dessert cups and fruit display to the steak or chicken entree, everything is decorated with beautiful flowers making you feel your meal is at some high end resort. They had put a temporary stop to these Sundays due to COVID...until last weekend! Their hours are now from 9am - 1pm and still offer a good amount on their menu, but no buffet at this time. I absolutely love their tri tip...juicy, flavorful topped with sliced grilled onions & so tender, you don't ever need a knife! The Chef's tri tip & eggs is what I went with, and it was just as delicious as I remember it! For dessert we had an amazing Florentine fruit cup which is fresh whipped cream inside a caramelized almond crust shell, then topped with 5 fruits. I had a Sunday for myself and thought I would try out a new place, and the reviews looked good, so I decided to check the place out. They post the menus for 2 months worth of rotating themes, so I did know exactly what was going to be served. Greek (this week's theme) would not have been my 1st choice, but it isn't like I was surprised. The food was good. Nothing was really outstanding, but most things were pretty tasty. Three stations were set up, a smaller 'breakfast' table, a 'lunch item' table and a dessert table. There were 2 hot breakfast items, a Greek fritata and a potato pancake. The fritata was too salty for me, probably because of the Klamata olives. the potato pancake was crispy, but a little bland. On the lunch side, there were 5 hot options, but I can't eat that much this early any more. I had the couscous, which I liked, the chicken, which was OK, and the vegetables, which were good. for dessert, I tried a couple of pastry bites. My favorite item of the brunch was here, a flakey individual pastry wrapped up with an apple compote. The baklava was also good, with plenty of pistachio. My only real complaint was the coffee, which really was not good. It was weak and flavorless. Whatever beans they use could stand a major upgrade. Overall, for $20, it is a good value if you want a big breakfast and like the menu items for the week. the staff is nice, and the owner/chef is personable and out on the floor, which is nice. read more

Best brunch in OC. Period. Delicious Food: The variety is great, and the flavors are exceptional. The beef tri-tip and the bread pudding souffle are life changing (and lucky for me, both are served a different way for almost all of the themes). The other buffet items are delicious too. PLUS you can get omelettes, waffles, crepes made to order, which taste just as great as the buffet options. Finally, the chef is always taking suggestions, so if there's something you think might be good, just let him know. Halal: I wanted to call this out separately because it's very difficult to find halal brunch options. And instead of going the vegetarian route, the chef uses turkey or beef bacon, which is fantastic. They also serve complimentary sparkling juice. Stay CLEAR of this place. We tried to hire them for our wedding cake. Spent months going back and forth on design. The owner seemed really nice and we were so close to finalizing a price and design... did cake testing and even tried his food. Then suddenly ghosted. Would stop answering our calls and emails TWO MONTHS BEFORE THE WEDDING. We would call and speak to his wife, so would then hand him the phone and he would hang up. Oh, man. I just had brunch at Chef's for the first time and it is, hands down, the best $20 brunch buffet I have ever had. We took a shot... my wife's family was in town to celebrate her birthday and we read online this Sunday was the French themed menu. I am so very glad we tried Chef's! Friendly service, a tour of the buffet stations, and everything... I mean EVERYTHING... was delicious. I started with chocolate French toast and a baked egg soufflé with some pastries. I was in heaven! Next up, stuffed chicken, beef, and tilapia... all cooked well and seasoned or sauced just right. I tried some spinach and brie salad that was excellent and assorted cheeses... yummy! Then, it was time for some mousse, creme brulee, and macaroons! I had about six of those... raspberry or hazelnut was probably my favorite. Drinks are a la carte... about $3 for a cup of coffee... but we were offered a free glass of sparkling cider. And the servers even brought my wife a complimentary piece of cake and sang to her for her birthday. I know we will be back... probably in two weeks for the Italian themed brunch. read more

Came here for the brunch it was amazing! There was so much good food, I am bummed I didn't take any pictures, however I was too busy eating. The food it great quality. Location is hidden and is small, could be hard to see from the street. The inside is one large room - not too many tables. I could see this place filling up very quickly. Servers were very polite and generous.Not only did they have the food that they served buffet style but you could also order pancakes, waffles and omelets from the kitchen. All the food was amazing and I would certainly come here again would be great as a girls brunch for sure. The only thing missing was the champagne... Also the parking can be a bit crazy but other than that it is a great place - and am 100% sure I will return. read more

My mom and I first discovered Chef's while looking for a brunch buffet, and I have to agree with all the other 5-star reviews--this place didn't disappoint! But the real purpose of this review is to recommend their phenomenal catering service. For as long as I can remember, my mom has hosted our family's annual Hanukkah party at our home, and she would always plan weeks in advance to cook enough for our family (sometimes up to 40 guests). As much as she's always loved hosting, it can be a point of anxiety to plan a large event year after year. When we stumbled upon this place for brunch, we decided to try Chef's catering for our party instead of cooking everything ourselves. This is the 3rd year in a row that we've relied on Chef's to provide outstanding kosher food for our Hanukkah party, and we cannot recommend them enough! Chef's makes menu planning for any number of guests a breeze, they can work with dietary restrictions, their food is super delicious, and their prices are very reasonable. They provide everything to make catering a meal at home a completely hassle-free experience. But what really sets them apart from the competition is their customer service. These are the sweetest, friendliest people, and they truly care about making each event a success. We cannot thank Chef's enough for allowing us to focus less on party planning and more on the true spirit of the season: enjoying time with our loved ones. read more

This place is by far my favorite Brunch Buffet in town! I love Sunday Brunch Buffets and I am surprised it's taken me this long to find out about this place. First off the atmosphere is wonderful, staff is amazing, they really have an awesome team there. Now the food, top quality on everything. They make everything from scratch and their Greek week tri tip was something I could just eat all day. (Keep in mind every week they transition into a different cultural theme. Last week was Greek, this week upcoming will be Italian. They also have French week and Mediterranean week) The waffles and pancakes are cooked upon your request and melts in your mouth. The omelet was great too, you ask for those from your waiter. I will definitely come back again! read more
