You can't go wrong trying out White Lion. I can literally pick off the menu with my eyes closed and enjoy every aspect off my meal. I've been there several times and have never been disappointed. The husband and wife who own this place are what make the place so great. Their food is good. The atmosphere is like someone shipped a country pub over on a ship and someone rebuilt it here. They do get a little crowded, what hidden gem doesn't? But you can always tell how good an "international" establishment is based upon the number of natives you see. If that's the case, this is hands down the best Pub in town. You'll hear English, Welsh and Scottish accents aplenty from the customers, which tells me that authenticity is exactly what you can expect. Only suggestion? Their bar setup is a bit odd. Maybe knock down the wall and make one big room and let people sit at the bar like across the pond? Might be too difficult to do. But otherwise, it's a great time. read more

If you're not looking for this place, you will pass right by. Also, the outside isn't very impressive. Once indoors, the atmosphere, staff and food are amazing. If you get an app, you must try the baked brie with green apple and crackers. It's definitely one of my top five favorite apps. For the entry, I prefer the Cockney Pride or the Lancashire feast. A cardboard cut out of the Queen greets you at the door. What more could you want? Interesting decor, a fun staff, and authentic English food are what make this place a Tulsa treat. I had crab cakes and veggies that were so tasty! My husband had cottage pie that looked divine. Of course we then had to try dessert- chocolate mousse pie was delightful. White lion is me and my wife's favorite pub in town. Their baked Brie with green apples is a great combination. They offer the traditional fish and chips but I always go for anyone of their meat pies. If your a beer drinker ask for a brown biters it's some combination of 2 of their beers (not a cider). The atmosphere is very dark and romantic. read more

We showed up with seven people on a Saturday night with no reservation but after a short moment to figure it out we had a great table and a wonderful evening with friends. We ask hundreds of questions and our server took time to answer everything. From what is in the dishes to which beer to order( the brown bitters was the best and I appreciated the recommendation from our server). The big problem was we could not sample everything. Words cannot do this place justice. I met Kelly, my waitress at the door. I was the first one in as they opened. I met peter behind the bar and I couldn't be happier with him! I had no idea what any of the food was and he came over to my table and explained it all. I told him I trusted him and I wanted him to give me what he would want if he could only eat here once. He asked if I liked wine, I certainly prefer beer. He served an appetizer of sausage rolls which are extremely tasty, especially with Colman's mustard. He brought a bitter brown beer which was perfect. Minimal bitter taste and minimal nutty aftertaste. It's so amazing for my taste. He brought an entree of cottage pie or the midland. I was intimidated by it.. Layers of meat, potatoes, gravy and cheese. Peter recommended adding HP sauce on top. I listened to the man. It was delicious! Served with peas and chips. I couldn't be happier with my first dining experience in Tulsa. The atmosphere is so warm and cozy. I felt like I was in my great grandparents house, promised with good food. What a charming place! My wife and I spent our third anniversary here, and we loved it. The fare is authentically British, with a menu offering a diversity of choices from steak pie to chicken pie to mushroom pie--and, of course, old standards likes fish and chips or bangers and mash. The beers on tap are what you'd expect to find in your average Liverpool pub--Harp, Smithwick's, Newcastle, Guinness, Fuller's ESB, etc. Don't expect to find some craft IPA or microbrewed delicacy behind the bar. The atmosphere is homey. The building itself is easily mistaken for a house. The walls are festooned with British kitsch. The Beatles in the background and the proprietor's chit-chat with customers made for a more convivial and communal feel than you might find in some restaurants. A molten chocolate cake was brought out--gratis--in honor of our anniversary. It tasted better with every bite! I was as impressed by it as by any dessert I've ever had in the British isles proper. I went to White Lion with two of my friends without knowing anything about the restaurant other than it is an English pub. White Lion is literally the owner's, Mrs. Betsy, house. Mrs. Betsy and her husband live upstairs above the restaurant. The restaurant was very small with four rooms with about 4-5 tables per room. We were lucky to get a table because the place was packed. The whole place was decorated with English pub decor. My two friends and I got three different appetizers and three different main courses. For the appetizers we got the baked brie and apple with crackers, crab dip with crackers, and Aunty Marg's famous sausage rolls. All three items were good, but the brie and apple with crackers was by far the best appetizer out of the three. The brie was just really creamy, and the coolness and crisp of the apple just made the whole appetizer a hit for me. The sausage rolls were good and they had a really flaky crust. The crab dip was cool not hot, and it had a little bit of a zing to it, which I liked. I personally thought that the brie was the best thing I had all night. For the main courses we got the fish and chips, the cornwell special, and the taste of the midlands. The fish and chips were delicious . The fish, which I recommend with the malt vinegar, didn't have a fishy taste, and the batter they used was great. The cornwell special was ok, but it was something I had never had before. The midlands though won the prize for the best main course. The combination of mashed potatoes, cheese, minced beef and carrot was spot on. Differently had all the bold flavors this guy needed. It also reminded me of shepherds pie without the crust. All the items were delicious, and I enjoyed my meal with a guinness. Also the staff was awesome, and even gave us a little bit of information about the place. P.S. I got the feeling from a few staffers that you don't want to piss off Mrs. Betsy. Now we're talking. This is a pub worth visiting. It's in an old house and made to feel VERY British inside. The owner always comes by my table to ask how everything is and makes me feel like I'm right at home. There is a modest beer selection, but the food is unbeatable in Tulsa. The Devonshire is also another favorite....it's like chicken pot pie on steroids! Stopped by when visiting family. Staff is very friendly and the inside is decorated just like an old english pub. We've been back a couple times and always enjoy trying something new. Make sure you make reservations, especially if you have people under 21 in your party (seating is limited and Tulsa has weird liquor laws regarding how close minors can sit near a bar I guess). When I walked into White Lion I felt immediately transported to a quaint pub just across the pond in London. Everything about this place (except the music) reflects the coziness and warmth of a London pub. They have a great beer selection on tap and our waitress provided great recommendations. The food carries through the pub vibe with things like sausage rolls and baked brie. I loved the baked brie which was wrapped in phyllo dough and served with crackers. The seating is so unbelievably inviting. I was there with some coworkers a client and we were seated in a small room with all sorts of different cozy high back chairs. The environment turned a potentially formal meeting into a casual and much more comfortable gathering. White Lion is a gem of a place and I totally plan to be back. read more

This is the closest you can get to English food without going to a place like New York to get American-made pub grub. Every time I'm here, I get something new, and it takes me back to my 2.5 weeks in the UK. The Cornish Pasties, the Yorkshire, the chips, all great. Must be eaten with a UK brew on tap OR a hot toddie (which they make extraordinarily well here). If you're especially lucky, you'll meet the owner, who's a really sweet lady from Liverpool. The decor is warm and welcoming, and looks like a true English pub should. I hope this place never goes out of business. read more

I've been going to this pub for 2 maybe 3 years, it's nearly always out of my price range but when you want to get the most bang for your buck this place is the place to do it.
