Service is a little slow but its literally just one sweet old asian woman working the entire diner. She was a sweetheart. Gotta stop back in for some legit thai food. We went here for dinner as a group of 6 on a Saturday night. We sat at the counter - there are no tables as it is a very small shop. We had such a great time and enjoyed every bite of food. Lily is a riot, providing entertainment while she prepares your food. I got the yummy burger and my husband got the pad Thai. Both were fabulous. The pad Thai was a little sweeter than others we've had at other places, but still delicious. Also, you can't beat the freshness. Be warned that you will spend a long time at lotus, as lily makes each dish to order and she has only minimal help in the kitchen. For us, it was well worth the extra time! read more

The absolute worst Red Curry I have ever had. She replaced the all of the vegetables that were on the menu with onion and zucchini (both of which I hate). In addition, the curry sauce was clumpy and had zero spice, which she said would have plenty of spice. The Tum Yum soup was just some boiled chicken with onions, zucchini and mushrooms in some broth. This place is pretty tiny, so if you have a bigger group or in a rush, I would go elsewhere. I'm still giving White Lotus 4 stars because there was one person who served like 15 of us who all came in within 1 hour and she cooked all our dishes when we ordered in front of us... amazing. All I have to say is, yuck! I ordered spring rolls and pad Thai. It was by far one of the worst pad Thai dishes I have ever eaten. Noodles were dry and the broccoli was shriveled. I've never had broccoli in pad Thai, but that's besides the point. It had no peanut flavor and was so spicy (even when I asked it to be mild because I'm breastfeeding a newborn) that I barely ate more ham a few bites. And I can handle spicy dishes. The spring rolls were so greasy that when you took a bite oil dropped down your face. All I could taste inside the roll was cabbage and a very small amount of noodles. Very bland as well. For a dive joint with 4 stars, this was a huge let down. Definitely will not be back. read more

It's a small place that isn't exactly the atmosphere I like, but the food is good. I love the hot and sour soup w/ shrimp, the chicken satay, and I will go on my second time to try the pad see ew. I wasn't too fond of the pad thai, it was too sweet. If it wasn't sweet I would've liked it much better. Otherwise I'm definitely going back, it's really affordable and it's amazing homemade cooking. The food was good and the chef was really nice, but at the end of the meal she overcharged me $2.75 for a $7.95 bowl of curry, and had the nerve to call it "tax". I won't be going back. It made me feel stupid for her being nice to me while I was eating. read more

Didn't get the chance to order because the person working works on one order at a time and I was pressed for time, so I chose to leave-- but I don't recommend eating in at this place-- atmosphere and service leave much to be desired. Very slow service! Don't go here if you are in a hurry. I went with a group of 5 people and she made all of our meals individually. She peeled the carrots, sliced onions and cooked one meal at a time. We waited 1.5 hours. All of us ordered Thai food and everyone in my group enjoyed the food. You can order 0-10 for the spice level. Level 6 is extremely spicy and my friends were sweating. They said it was too spicy and they love spicy. I ordered a level 1 and I still thought it had a little too much spice but I don't like spicy. I would not take children here and I would never go with more than one other person. read more

This place always wows me. Yes, it's a small diner but the food that comes out of here is incredible! The owner runs the place by herself cooking everything to order, but she's pretty efficient and can juggle things well. Yes, all the former words are true, the cuisine is palatable, the staff is friendly and courteous, and the portions and prices are good. I'm from Southern California, where we know good Thai food - and this place is good. I was surprised to say the least to find such a 'gem' (ironically, Dayton was once known as 'The Gem City') within the down-at-the-heels 'meat-and-potatos' Midwest, but such places do exist in a 'limited frontier', no doubt. read more

This place is a true Dayton gem. The owner is so nice, and makes every authentic dish fresh. The prices are very reasonable and the setting is a cool old diner. Feel free to bring a bottle of wine. What a cool little Thai restaurant nestled into a corner downtown! This one-(wo)man shop is run by a resilient older Thai woman, housed in an old diner turned thai/hamburger joint (yes--she serves burgers too!) It almost feels as if you've been invited into her house and are watching her home-cook for you. She cooks each order individually in pots and pans, so expect a wait with a large group or if it's crowded. Food is tasty and the place is filled with regulars. I love white lotus. Their hours are weird, but that's every place in Dayton. Their Thai food is incredible and inexpensive and the lady that owns it is hilarious. I took my Mom to Dayton for her H.S. reunion and I had a couple hours to kill, and after an exhaustive Yelp search I narrowed it down to White Lotus. I AM SOOOOOO GLAD I DID! One sweet Thai lady, Joan, serves burgers...as an homage to the previous occupants (White Tower and Yummy Burger) in Downtown Dayton..and smokin' good Thai food...MADE FROM SCRATCH on the flat top grill and a couple side burners. EVERYTHING from the soup broth on up...made to order! OMG She whipped up the absolute best Tom Yum soup and Pad Thai I have had outside of Bangkok! The place is small with only counter seating and I can imagine it taking a while to get your food when the place is busy, but be patient, it is SOOOOOO worth the wait! read more

One of Dayton's best kept secrets. The Thai menu is l. limited but what is served is amazing. The Thai Noodle soup is out of this world! Pad Thai and curries are equally as good. Delicious and very affordable Thai food served by a sweet lady. One of my favorite places in the city to stop and get lunch. Five stars!

In terms of the area's best Pad Thai, this is probably my favorite, followed by Pearl Bay in Fairborn and Tik's Thai Express (both good in their own right). White Lotus is just an old school lunch counter with an Asian aspect to the menu, but the food is well worth it. If you have a cold, get the Hot and Sour Soup....will clear you right up. Great food, worth the trip, especially if you already live in the city. read more
