We arrived about 35 minutes prior to cafe's closing time. At that time, there were only 6 others customers in the restaurant, two of which were paying their bills, and the other four had been served their food and were eating. We sat for five minutes before one of the three waitresses acknowledged us and brought us our menus (no inquiry about whether we would like something to drink). We waiting another 10-15 minutes to order, and finally left as none of the waitresses approached our table again, let alone ask us for our order. This lack of service is understandable if a restaurant is busy, but not good form with so few customers. We walked down the street and had a wonderful lunch. read more

We are making a quick trip to enjoy the in-law's cabin and decided to come here for breakfast. Although we spend time up here throughout the year we usually cook at the cabin but, like I said, quick trip so limited groceries and we are treating ourselves. On a Sunday morning there is a steady flow of customers and a short wait list. We lucked out, just the two of us this time so we got right in. We were greeted immediately upon entering and offered two seats at the counter which we took. The inside of the restaurant reflects the quaint old town of McCloud. The architecture, lighting, and wood detail is simple but has an elegance and warmth about it. It's busy so it sounds a little like a diner with the hustle and bustle of serving and clearing of plates and dishes. The lighting is a nice touch and it has the fishbowl effect with windows wrapping around the front and side of the building. The Food: I ordered the veggie omelette with hash browns and of course, coffee. It was hot when it came out and it's a very large omelette! I substituted for egg whites and the whites were cooked perfectly, not dry like a lot of places. They were fluffy and fresh tasting. The omelette was STUFFED with yummy fresh vegetables. It was covered in shredded cheeses and had cheers inside as well. This was the downside for me; just because I didn't want meat in my omelette didn't mean I need a mound of cheese to compensate. Still, with all of the good veggies inside the dish wasn't watery which sometimes happens with a veggie based meal. The hash browns were good but s bit greasy. My mate ordered the special which was French toast covered in berries and powdered sugar (picture included). And a hot chocolate. The plate was clean when we left so I'm gonna say it was good. The hot chocolate was mounded in whipped cream which is always a winner in our book. The coffee: when rating a breakfast house I use coffee as a main category. This is not top notch coffee and it's made very strong. I'm usually a fan of strong coffee but I baulk at the quality when I have to use a knife to cut thru it! The service was spot on. We were checked on several times, my coffee was topped off without asking, the food came out quickly and the bus boy was hustling around taking care of cleanliness and beverages. Very efficient! Bottom line: I would and will probably return and would definitely recommend to others. There's not a lot to choose from around here but this place out does many restaurants in Shasta even. It's not just good for the area but a good food house in general. read more

Great breakfast and lunch spot! Over this past weekend my wife and I ate there 3 times. Twice for breakfast and once for lunch. The breakfast portions are pretty big but they do offer half orders. Everything was super tasty and very reasonably priced! My wife had probably the best looking and tasting BLT ever!! huge strips of bacon and very fresh produce! My omelets were equally good with lots of fresh ingredients! It may be different in more busy seasons but the times we went to the cafe there was only one waitress and at least the second day of breakfast we had to wait a little longer than usual for refills and the check. But other than that the waitress was very friendly and very attentive. Definitely check this place out if you are in the area. You wont be disappointed. read more

This is the best breakfast and lunch restaurant in the tri-city area (Mount Shasta, McCloud and Weed. It is well worth the 10 mile ride from Mount Shasta. Everything is made with fresh ingredients. There omelets are to die for, lunch menu is great, burgers are hot and juicey, there soups are home made, the BLT is the best ever and the chicken salad fresh and crispy and massive. everything about this place is wonderful, located in a small town where everyone knows your name. Wait staff friendly and attentive, portions are large, 1/2 orders can be made. I have been there 7 times within the last 8 months and I hope to make my way through there whole menu. We had breakfast here cos we had $20 credit for staying at Mccloud River Mercantile Hotel. It seems like quite a few locals eat here as well. We had the vegetarian omelette with hash browns and a pancake/egg/bacon/sausage combo. I think the online menu is not updated... I think we paid about $8.95 for each item, which was a good deal with the $20 credit. With coffee, tea and tax, we ended up a few dollars over, which was ok. The omelette was supposed to come with toast, which never appeared, but there was more than enough food so I didn't ask for it. The omelette was amazing! I'd definitely eat that again! Hash was good. Not too oily. I'm not a fan of hash but my husband loved it. Pancakes were not great so I'd stick with the omelettes next time. Good food and one of the best "complementary" hotel breakfasts I've ever had. I'd definitely eat there again. read more

We ate lunch here twice while exploring the McCloud river area. Food is home-style, fresh and delicious. Portions are very generous. The service is excellent with courteous and attentive wait staff. We had the patty melt which was superb. French fries seem to be hand cut and home made and there were more than we could eat. The crispy chicken salad was very good, fresh veggies and the chicken was crispy and tasty. Other lunches included the veggie sandwich and hamburger. Both were way above average. Wednesday, July 22: Lunch Ok, very nice. A good find. My mom tells me that the last restaurant in this location closed up and that this one has been around a couple of years. I had a Chicken Club, and the Momerator had a BLT. We both took home half because we couldn't finish ours. Ok fries. But the service was great. The cook also took orders and between her and another waitperson, we were well taken care of. In addition to the cook light bulbs, the overhead fans are awsome. Hard to describe, but picture two old fashioned metal fans hanging from a rotating piece. The fans are mounted at a 45-degree angle......Naw, I can't describe it. You will all have to hop in your cars and drive to McCloud. Every last darn one of you. read more

Traditional bfast with variety of omelettes, scrambles, and a build-your-own option as well. I had a 1/2 order of The Volcano which came with one very fluffy, large, heavenly pancake, sausage patty, bacon, and a scrambled egg. My husband ordered the avocado, cheese and bacon scramble. We live about an hour away from White Mountain and kept hearing how good it is. We were not disappointed at all. We got there when they opened and about 45 minutes when we left they were full. The food was excellent in quality, taste and quantity. For us, there was just too much to eat. We tried but just could not do it. I had an omelet and my wife had the chicken fried steak which is usually what she tries at a new restaurant - she it was one of the best she has had. The young woman clearing and cleaning tables obviously did not want to be there. She'd pick up a couple things then disappear and not return to finish. The food was below average.
