I drove up from the bay area to spend 2 nights in Dunsmuir. This place was highly recommended and I see why! I got the Cilantro Bomb burger and it lived up to the name! Huge cilantro flavor and a great cheese and sauce on it too. The chips were great as well as the beer selection. The service was amazingly fast and super friendly. I had my heart set on a burger and ultimately landed on the Cilantro Bomb - a cajun seasoned burger topped with melted jack cheese, housemade fried onion strings, generous bunch of cilantro, lime aioli, and squeeze of lime. This burger lived up to the hype, and it's one of the most inventive creations I've ever had! You order at the counter, but there's a separate line for sticky buns and beer only. 20 rotating brews on tap and housemade sticky buns for a sweet treat! You can even get a free one for showing counter staff your review. Yak's is a fun spot, quirky, and worth visiting. Pro tip: get there early. I arrived about a half hour after opening and there was already a long line. However, food comes out quick and there's indoor and outdoor seating options. My husband and I drive to Oregon every year and on our way north, we make a pit stop at Yaks! This place never disappoints. Pretty big burger you have to smash down to bite into. Their burgers are so flavorful. My husband loved his burger and so did I. I would have never thought of putting cilantro in my burger, but I'm so happy they made it because I never want to live without it. I stopped at Yaks while in Dunsmuir and OMG -- the Scott's Tots are hands down the BEST tater tots I have ever had in my life. These are not your average tots. They were perfectly crispy and absolutely PACKED with flavor. Every bite was like an explosion of different flavors, and whatever combination of sauces, toppings, and fresh cilantro they use is seriously incredible. I'm going to be thinking about these long after I leave Dunsmuir. But what made Yaks even better was the entire experience. The place has such a cool, unique vibe and so much personality. You can tell this isn't some cookie-cutter restaurant--it has character and feels like a place people genuinely love. And the owner was SO incredibly nice and welcoming. That kind of hospitality makes such a difference, especially when you're visiting from out of town. Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, amazing people. Omg. If you are ever driving to Oregon on 5 and need a filling meal, stop at Yaks! Burgers were huge and on top of that they tasted great too. Perfect filling meal for a long drive. They don't skimp out on toppings and the burger patties were nice and thick. For all my ranch lovers, Yaks has great ranch too. They offer chips as a side but you can sub for french fries. Now for the food. Ginormous burgers. I was able to split my burger and it was perfect amount. Upgrading to fries is a few dollars more but yummy. They give you a side of aioli and lavender ketchup! I had seen this place on social media and wanted to see if the place was as good as it claimed to be. I have to admit it was pretty good. Didn't get to enjoy the inside dining area due to having a pet. So we sat on the back patio area. The food was delicious had a burger and fires were nice and crispy and burger was nice and juicy on a soft bun. The service was friendly but it took forever to get our order due to how busy the place was only down side. We stopped at Yaks on 5 during our road trip to Oregon after hearing so many great things about it. We arrived around noon on a Friday. It wasn't overly busy, but there was a small line. We ordered the chicken sandwich and split it. (Just a heads up there is a charge for splitting a meal, which I didn't notice until after we paid.) The fries were really good, and the ranch was delicious. The chicken sandwich, however, was just okay and didn't quite live up to our expectations. I'd definitely give Yaks another try because I've heard such great things about their burgers. Next time, I'd skip the chicken sandwich and order one of the burgers instead. read more

We came here on our way home after camping. We didn't really know what to expect. It was busy. The line was long but it moved fast and the food came out fast. They had table inside and they also have table outside. The washer is so funny and very energetic. The burgers are huge!! And it's also pricey. We pad extra to "split" one or the burger. It was a perfect size of the kids. However, it would have probably been cheaper if we just got the kids menu. We opt out to get the other burger because the kids burger came in plain and you will need to pay extra for cheese and any other add-on. The smiley riley was good. I like the string of onion rings. It gives it a nice crunch, instead of those big onion rings. It was flavorful. My MIL ordered the ribs and replace the price with salad. The salad was good. The ribs-not as tender as I wanted it to be. The sticky bun is also really good. The kids really like it. Wow this spot really blew me away! I saw the reviews but thought this place looked a little gimicky however with such high reviews I had to check it out, and it did not disappoint! The counter service was very streamlined with the option to eat in or out, but as the friendly woman at the counter the food would be hard to eat in the car so we decided to eat in, which was the right choice! The decor is eclectic and fun, but the best past was the interactive sensory wall! Like what? Who does that? We are often hesitant to take my 2.5yo out to eat but this had him entertained the whole time and I was actually able to eat my food in peace, it was a small miracle. Now the burgers... we got the jalapeño bacon burger and the "this little piggy never came home" burger, which were huge and packed with delicious toppings and sauces! The jalapeño bacon burger had jalapeño bacon crumble and fried jalapeños with both burgers having their signature fried onion strings as well. The burgers were of course ridiculous to eat, we made it through half each but they were delicious! We also upgraded to the Parmesan fries instead of the chips that come with it. We also got the sticky bun (so worth it) and the tots which my husband loved but were a touch sweet for me. Even though it's counter service the service still felt special. The friendly woman behind the counter (who we later found out was the owner's daughter) came around checking that everyone was doing well. I also appreciated that they have everything you need easily accessible by the counter to help yourself to silverware, to go boxes etc. but my one small critique is I wish they had extra napkins at the tables. You could really feel the energy he's put in the place from the hanging chandeliers to wall set pieces. I ordered garlic fries, the garlic burger, and a sticky bun. The fries were absolutely loaded with cheese and garlicy flavor, but I wish they were a little crispier. The garlic burger came with a zesty roasted garlic aoli and a huge cheese skirt. We came here on a Thursday around 3pm, and was greeted with a huge welcoming from Sarah! She was such a great help and was so personable. The menu is extensive but all sooo good! We got the This Little Piggy Never Came Home- the highlight of this burger is the Gorgonzola cheese. Cooked to perfection- a bit on the saltier side, but try one of their 20 beers on tap to wash it down. The other burger we got was the Vavavoom- and for you mushroom and onion lovers- it's a must! This was one of the best burger places i have ever been to. The inside decor and choice of beers on tap and togo were top tier. I got the pickled pastrami with pastrami mustard sauce. This one was great concoction. Each bite tasted like bits of heaven... i washed it down with one of their very own stouts (the coffee vanilla stout). The service was excellent and they put little hidden art gems all throughout the restaurant. My girlfriend got vegetarian burger with all kinds of added extras to it. She fell in love with it and could barely fit the thing in her mouth it was so huge. We got garlic parmesan fries which were cooked to order and unbelievably good. I had a laugh at the restroom decor which was film/movie shots of actors on toilets. This was an experience not just a place to grab a bite to eat. The staff were super friendly and very accommodating. It's too bad it's so far away from Los Angeles, otherwise i would be here more often. I will dream of going back here forever, everything about Yaks is phenomenal! We were greeted with genuine smiles, a simple instruction of how to order and laughter from all angles! Why have just a pastrami sandwich when you can pickle it, gourmet mustard it, garlic aioli it and present it all hot and cheesy? Divine, sublime and decadent I tell you!! Now, Scott's Tots had me wanting to be related to Scott, married to Scott or best friends with Scott, they were mouthwatering good!! Our beautiful server suggested a rib and smoked wing on top and she nailed it! Once again, over the top!! We had the pleasure of meeting Nancy and immediately became Yaks family! On each table is a little stand with paper and a question. My question was "What do you think YAKS stands for?" While we waited for our food, I filled it out, even added a couple little cartoons! We got caught in a bad traffic jam where all lanes on 1-5 south were closed due to an accident. We decided to stay in Dunsmuir and finish our drive in the morning. Overall, delicious burgers with an eclectic ambiance. Not sure if worth the price. $22+ for burgers is a bit steep with no fries or even a drink. Though it did come with a side of chips. The Come to Jesus burger was *chefs kiss* despite it being on the sweeter side. We thought the burgers were bigger than we expected! Including the meat patty so kudos! Enjoyed the garlic Parmesan fries! It was sooo tasty with perfect amount of garlic to Parmesan ratio. Would have loved more garlic if I could haha. My friend and I went on an adventure and booked a tour for the Shasta Caverns! Our well informed (and may I say, very handsome tour guide) recommended Yaks when our tour concluded and he was giving some suggestions about other sites and bites in the area. And with combos you e never seen before - loaded with bacon, sauces, grilled onions, jalapeños, ooey , gooey meaty cheeses! Multiple patties and burgers of mind blowing height! The decor is funky and colorful and very alive. There's a diner/alternative/artsy vibe here with chandeliers and beads and old necklaces hanging in the windows. Very family friendly - playing oldies and country music. The fella that was taking orders is like a familiar uncle that is both boisterous and warm. The kind of man that laughs heartily without abandon and gives you a wink while calling out the orders. They have you pull a laminated strip of paper out of a can that has a funny title on it so you know when your order is up. We got "Single and ready to mingle". Funnily enough, my friend and I went in with the intention of ordering burgers. But we ended up getting a pastrami sandwich (mine) and the ribs plate (hers). We were NOT disappointed. My pastrami sandwich pictured here was bursting with flavor. There are two pastrami sandwiches on the menu and even a burger WITH pastrami on it too! I opted for the simpler pastrami sandwich. And while simpler in amount of ingredients (the other one has cheese and sauces on it) it was not SIMPLY a sandwich. Thinking about it now is actually making me crave it! It was delicious - I highly recommend it. Okay... the ribs. Guys... the ribs are incredible. The toppings included house/made lemon-ginger marmalade -- amazing flavor! Abby, the gal running the front room, had complete control of her domaine.
