This venue has a lot to work on. They need to seriously invest in a better HVAC system because it was torturously hot. People were dropping like flies so badly that they had to pass out free water. Even when we first arrived and the house wasn't packed, it was hot. It only got worse. No fans or circulation. When an artist has to stop in the middle of songs to check on the crowd and alert crew members that people are passing out, maybe that venue should invest in proper infrastructure. The bathrooms were dirty, half the sinks didn't come on and most of the stalls were out of toilet paper. The acoustics were nothing to write home about, so that's way too many strikes for me. If you want to enjoy your favorite artist, I would suggest a different venue because this place feels like a primitive prisoner encampment. Negligent and unacceptable for any venue in 2026 to be this hot and stagnant, post-Covid. read more

Great views from all sides in GA. I was all the way in the back by the bar which has a lot of drink options. And my view was still 10/10. I got parking in lot B and prepaid. All I had to do was scan my ticket and had parking minutes from the front of the venue. I got through security quickly and immediately was able to see the artist. I come quite a bit and prices are always affordable. I recommend buying tickets in advance and go ahead and pre purchase a parking ticket for one of their lots! read more

This is my 2nd favourite live music venue in Houston. I've seen tons of shows here over the last few years but had to finally write a review because the staff went above and beyond for us at our most recent one. They made an exception that meant so much to us since we had messed up getting there too early and really didn't want to wait in the small area indoors. Highly recommend this place all across the board- a plethora of great bands come here, the sound is always balanced well, and the outdoor area is the best part. It's also the best outdoor music venue in Houston, period... I wish so many bands that went to the Cynthia Woods Pavilion came to White Oak instead! The bag policy here is how it should be everywhere. They're reasonable and laid-back. Also, the parking is ideal and easy. You can pay to park in their lot right across the street, or just park for free in a nearby neighbourhood and make the short walk to the venue. read more

I don't give out 1-star reviews very often but this place was horrendous. It was our first AND OUR LAST VISIT. About 6 months ago, my husband purchased tickets for the OAR show at White Oak. It was a lawn show in early August. He has been looking forward to seeing one of his favorite bands. He purchased parking ahead of time and we found lot B and parked. We DOUSED ourselves in bug spray as this was an outdoor concert and it's been a very wet summer. We get in line and go through the bag and body check. We enter the venue gates and see a small rickety bar to our right and a merch tent (think pop up sun shade at the beach) tent straight ahead. They had metal fencing around a grassy area but we assumed that was just to help with traffic flow... With no signage around, we wandered into the building. The room was already about 1/2 full despite being there about an hour and a half early. In the low lighting, we saw a bar along the back and a small stage up front. The music was LOUD and not our vibe so we decided to head back outside. We figured since there were multiple stages here, this was just ONE of the areas you could listen to opening music before the show on the LAWN. Once outside, we walked to the metal fencing and realized that the outdoor stage and the lawn were in no condition for a show. The stage was in disarray, the lawn's grass overgrown, fencing was down... it was in shambles. Looking at the building, parts of the roof were broken, siding was missing in spots and it just looked like such a DUMP. We then realized that the show could not possibly being on the lawn. That's when we overheard someone say that the show was moved INSIDE. WHAT!!?!?!??? So we stood there for about 2 hours watching more and more and more people cram into that small downstairs room. We spoke to numerous people who expressed surprise about the show not being on the lawn, about not being alerted for the change in location, about how HOT it was inside, about how they feared the venue was going over FIRE CODE with the number of people crammed in there. Already feeling claustrophobic about how it had to be in there, I sent my husband in to check it out. He came back and said there was only about a 2ft. open area in front of the restroom entrance. I might add, during our time waiting outside, we saw so many people deciding to LEAVE before the show even started, especially people with kids. I couldn't imagine having children packed inside that building. Needless to say, after much deliberation, we decided to leave before the show even started. Coincidentally, one of the couples we talked to for a bit outside had left as well and we saw them on the way to our vehicle. Not going to lie, I had a fear of it ending up being like "The Station" fire in 2003... people trapped inside and hundred deaths due to unsafe conditions of this building. The kicker was when we were leaving, the worker at the gate said there was no re-entry. (Wonder if she was surprised the number of people who were leaving before the show even started.) Anyways, I should have replied that we never intend to re-enter this shit hole. Waste of time and money. Never coming back. Wish we were alerted ahead of time of the change from the lawn to downstairs. We could have made the call to not come ahead of time. But since their policy allows for changes without notice, they still got their money despite dozens of unhappy customers. Great business model. read more

I know this venue well because I've seen shows upstairs / downstairs about a dozen times in the past year or so. I've also been to a lot of other music venues in Houston and Austin. 75% of the time everything is fine but there's some stuff you need to know. I've had about 4 bad experiences here : downstairs venue way too warm when full, not letting people in at the time the posted on social media + flyer, several times the speakers sounded terrible or EQ was very off. 1. If the downstairs show is packed it's going to be really hot. Multiple reviews mention people getting sick, passing out, throwing up. If it's only half full it will be totally fine. But if you're planning on seeing someone very popular here, plan on being *very* warm. On the other hand the smaller upstairs venue is cold for real. 2. Sometimes the audio sucks but most of the time everything sounds ok. I've seen a few of shows that sounded really bad. This has happened both upstairs and downstairs. Unfortunately the times this happened to me it was bands I was looking forward to. One time the opening band sounded fine then headliner bass was turned up WAY too high. Another time the speakers sounded blown for every band, openers and headliner. 3. The "doors" time isnt set in stone. "Doors at 4pm" might be doors at 4:30. Or you show up at 4pm then stand in line for 15mins for basically no reason. They are really weird about when they let people in. 4. When the opener goes on changes. The first band might go on 30mins after doors or 1hr after doors. I've seen both situations. 5. There is no re-entry. This happened one time : Doors at 7pm. Show up about to walk in. Sign up front says first band isnt until like 8:15. No mention of this on social media. People in front of me complaining. Cuz once you go in that's it. You're going to be standing for almost 1hr just waiting for the first band. Here's something else : I think Im going to be smart and show up 30min after doors so I dont have to stand around waiting for opening band. I get there 30min after doors and the opening band (who I wanted to see) is already on their 2nd song. So there is no good way to time this venue. It's random what youre going to get when you show up. Probably it will be fine, but there is a 25% chance something I mentioned above will happen. read more

THIS IS AN ALL OUTDOOR VENUE WITH NO COVERING. Be aware of this when you get tickets for a summer concert in Texas. My experience here was not great. It was a rainy day and they already delayed the concert by a few hours to start with. Then once we finally got in, it took forever for the first opening band to start and then another over an hour wait for only one of the headliners to start and the other opening and other headliner didn't even end up playing. If it was a nice day, I'd maybe recommend this place. But considering it's all outdoor in Texas with no cover and I had such a bad experience, this place is a no go for me. I gave it two stars cuz it tried and the set up is nice, but outdoor no cover just is not realistic for a nice time in south Texas. read more

After visiting this spot a few times, I decided to write about it... If you have the opportunity to attend a concert here, you should absolutely do it. Especially if it's a band that you love and really want to see. There's not a bad seat in the house and every viewpoint is fantastic. It's a very intimate setting, the sound is great, and I was extremely happy with how much I enjoyed the show. Drink prices were about as you'd expect for a place like this and I was glad to see so many bar tenders at the outside and inside parts of the venue, so there was never ever a wait in line situation. I am absolutely infuriated with my experience at Djo on Oct. 5. I go to concerts consistently and have never experienced anything like this before. We were sent an email telling us to arrive at the venue at 1pm to pick up a numbered wristband and that we could leave and come back to claim that spot at 5pm. Staff did not honor this and instead told us we had to wait in line until 4pm. (Which was also a lie, we didn't get in until 6pm) I paid to not do this and the venue's website states fans are not allowed to wait that long anyway. I was told if I left, I forfeit my spot and VIP. Paying an extra $100 for this, that wasn't ideal. Staff was frustrated with us having to deal with an extra 200 people in line early, who all would have cleared out by after 1pm if they had honored the system. We didn't want to clear out in fear of not getting a decent view that we had paid extra for and were guaranteed. The opening band and fellow people in the line brought us waters, not even staff who forced us to wait. I never wait and queue hours before show, I know it is unfair to staff at the venue. But people were told we had to stay in order to get their money's worth. Staff was also mocking fans in line and being outright rude. As a business, it's shady to delete Instagram comments for calling you out on not providing what we paid for. It's also strange that any bad Google review referencing this concert is now gone. Take ownership. This entire event was unsafe. Keeping people trapped in the heat for hours and then not ensuring a safe, numbered system toward the front of the stage just wracked havoc. Staff had a hard time lining us up and organizing us and weren't sure what to do. I felt bad for them, but honestly the whole thing was unprofessional. People who wanted barricade and arrived early in the morning ended up pushed to the back because staff had us self funnel into one line before making us stand around in direct sunlight. Evidently this was a miscommunication between White Oak and the artist's team. What I paid for was not respected and I was kept in the heat for hours with little to no information, uprooted hours of my day and risked my health. At the very least, emailed communication to us prior to arriving at 1pm and getting trapped at your venue that the time was changing would have made a huge difference. read more

I absolutely love this music venue, but they started charging Ticketmaster fees even when you purchase the tickets in person at the box office. This wasn't the case until recently, and it makes purchasing tickets in person completely pointless. I absolutely loathe pointless fees, hence why I would always purchase my tickets in person. I was so impressed by this venue! My husband and I attended a Randy Rogers Band concert earlier this month and really enjoyed our experience. There's so many places to stand to get a great view and the sound is awesome throughout. There are 3 bars that are easily accessible from all standing areas so you never have to travel far to get a drink. The bartenders were all very friendly and fast. The only negatives that result in less than a 5 star is that the rest of the staff wasn't friendly at all and acted like they were TSA (hating their jobs), the drinks were so overpriced for what you actually receive, and parking is ridiculous price wise for a venue of this size and style. I can see being easily overheated attending a show here during the summer, but otherwise it's a really cool venue depending on weather and who you want to see play. read more

I've been to several shows at White Oak Music Hall and I've never had any issues. There's usually parking across the street in a lot ($10-$20) and the process of getting in is usually seamless. Security is always on point and they make sure to check everyone thoroughly before they go in. Once you get in, there's a bar to the left (drinks are bleh) and then open space with the stage right up front. Look forward to attending more shows here! read more

I stood in line for a concert earlier this month which had us organized nicely waiting in a roped snaking Disney World-like line under the under hang to avoid being rained on. The concert offered a VIP upgrade which we were all assuming an employee would pull from the original line. A half an hour before doors opened, a young male employee stood out in the middle of the sidewalk telling people "if you have VIP, line up here" pointing in the direction of the main doors. Needless to say, that communication was lost on the first people in line who flew in from Peru due to a language barrier. I had VIP and basically did the best as I could to get to said doors. It was a mad clusterf*ck, an unorganized rush to form this new VIP line and my being 5th in line now meant 20 people were in front of me. Total minor annoyance that the employees really didn't make any effort to pull from the original one line that had formed originally. Side note, I have been to other comparable music venues (ie Great American Music Hall in San Francisco) who may not have been prepared/organized ahead of time to designate two separate lines just like White Oak Music Hall, but they simply had one employee go down the original line to split and direct which direction to go to two separate opposite lines all keeping people in order. Needless to say, that may be something to consider or attempt to try so the next crowd you get for the next show doesn't riot at how unfair you attempt to coordinate a VIP check in when it's abundantly clear the venue wasn't prepared. Our concert was downstairs and was open, and a nice sized venue. Bar was conveniently located in the back. The venue was holding another event upstairs at the same time but you really couldn't tell and it did not affect our experience. If you get to the venue early enough, you can save $ on parking by grabbing parking on the street- that, and the fact it was a great show by the artist salvages this review so that's it's not a one star review. read more

I agree with other reviews that this is a decent venue. But there is one thing that must be discussed; and I honestly don't understand how the owners haven't addressed this. There is NO AC in the venue. Period. We attended a concert last night that had hundreds of people crammed into the downstairs room. There was absolutely ZERO air circulation. It was so hot they started giving out free water to the crowd. Which kind of sucked as at that point I had already spent $26 on 6 bottles of water. This is Houston. It's hot here. And yesterday it was only in the low 80s maybe? When I went for round two of water bottles I asked the bartender if they had ac and why it isn't on. The non-empathetic response was: "there's a lot of people, heat rises." I said no more as it was clear no one there could (or would) do anything about it. About 9:45 (3 songs before the event was over) they finally brought out some sort of wheeled massive fan upstairs. That still gave very little relief. Even the performer on stage took an unplanned moment off stage and changed into short sleeves and then they ended up bringing a fan on stage for him too. He even mentioned how hot it was while talking to the crowd. What a joke. It's not like they don't know how hot it gets. They (the owners) just clearly don't care; I mean, they get paid regardless of any of our complaints as they'll just continue to pack people in because of who they book, not because of the venue itself. This particular concert was filled with kids. I will never attend an event here again; I can't imagine how much worse it would have been with a bunch of drunk adults. We attended Marc Maron's comedy show on 3/8/25. Things got off to a rough start in the ticket buying process when I was charged $31 per ticket as a convenience fee. Mind you the tickets were $55 apiece and this made them $86, not including tax. From there, it went downhill as the venue is without a doubt the most crowded stacked full of chairs place I've ever been in my life. I question whether that many people would have met the fire code. We literally sat there for the whole show with our elbows against our sides on our hands in our laps because we could not even sit comfortably. As a special bonus (NOT) Maron spent the first half hour blasting Donald Trump and going on a long political rant. I don't need that crap at a comedy show. This place is dead to me. read more

I really enjoyed this venue. It is located in a sketchy area, and I did not enjoy walking 10 minutes alone from the METRORail stop to the concert hall. They have parking lots for $25 or $30, but you can get there early and park in the neighbourhood for free. The thing that I really liked about this venue was that they kept handing out free bottled water to the crowd before and between shows, which was greatly appreciated since it was outdoors and in July. You can also bring your own reusable plastic water bottle and fill it from a water cooler. A security guard kept standing in right in front of the lead singer, which was bothersome. He could've stood a little to the side. The bar was pricey just like any other concert venue. A slice of pizza was $7. The restrooms were clean. read more

I went and saw Sierra Ferrell here and it was outside. It was really really hot! I just moved here from Baltimore so the heat really gets me at times still. They did have free water stations so that's amazing. She is folky blue grass singer. The sound was decent but it wasn't very loud. That could be because it was outside and I am not aware of the rules here. The staff was really nice and the beers were about $15. I purchased 2 Ben Bohmer tickets before Christmas; have been looking forward to this show everyday for months. My best friend and I, both adults, were dropped off by an Uber at approximately 8:00 p.m. and made our way to the purse check/ticket line. We were promptly and rudely told that my friend should not even retrieve her Texas ID because they were not going to give her a drink wristband because she was "clearly" intoxicated, which she, and I, were not: Not slurring, not stumbling, not stuttering, not laughing wildly, nothing. I didn't want to miss the show entirely, so I acquiesced just so that we could get in the damn door. At that point I took my adult ass to the bar and ordered a drink. I had already forgotten that they refused to give my adult friend her drink wristband. So I asked her what she wanted me to get her. She reminded me she couldn't drink, so I paid and we walked towards the front of the floor. That's when she asked me for my drink, And I reluctantly relented. within seconds security was all over us kicking us out, because, you know, we're such horribly inebriated patrons.. Very disappointed. Granted, I did allow her to drink my alcoholic drink when she had no wristband, and that's on me, but they also made an all too quick judgment call based on nothing substantial, and no way for us to prove otherwise.. but who was I to argue?? And I won't even go through how they went through both of our purses with a fine tooth comb and made her throw out some products she had in her purse for her new baby, etc. The whole experience was quite surreal to say the least. I knew that had I chosen the option to argue, it would have only lead to me: A) not being allowed entry, and/or B) being arrested. They shouldn't have refused her a drink wristband in the first place. They actually told her not to even get her ID out cuz they weren't going to give her one. Like.. huh?!? Anyways, I'm done giving my patronage to this venue, and any workers from last night from any company affiliated with this show, and I will make sure my friends choose other events if possible as well.. My first experience while in Houston was at this outdoor music venue. I was at the event a bit early so I found parking easily. You could pay ahead of time $30 online. They also charge $30 at the door, so it's the same thing. Some neighborhood residents were opening up their garages and also charging $30. Getting out after the show was over took a good 30-40 minutes. The venue was smaller than I expected. The back of it goes upward like a hill, where they have some VIP benches and tables. There is a bar on either side of the stage. The entrance gets pretty bottle necked so I found the other side to be more spacious. Bruh I paid $80-90 for 4 cocktails (that were full of ice). There were supposed to be food trucks next door, but I only found one open. They were selling hot toddies for $7. read more

Generally ok venue. But i would AVOID their Emo nights / Brooklyn Emo Night. It is a massive ripoff and the bar in the room is either not ideal for the setup and or the staff is just annoyed with the function. The "emo" music they're charging you for is literally a TikTok/spotify playlist that barely covers the genre. There are better and more organic emo nights around town. read more

I ended up at White Oak because one of my favorite bands, Johnnyswim had a concert there earlier this week. I got the tickets for Christmas and was both excited and nervous about seeing my first concert since the pandemic. Would it be safe? Luckily, WO requires proof of vaccination which made me feel somewhat better. However, I've visited other establishments that asked for this and then failed to ask for it at the door so I was doubtful that WO would follow through. Once we arrived, we parked on the street so I I'm not sure what their actual parking situation is like. We towed a short, fast moving line towards the auditorium and wouldn't you know, when we got to the front we were asked for our tickets, proof of ID, and our VAX cards! Yay! WO definitely gained points from me there and I went from worrying about being safe to eventually feeling safe enough to take my mask off at the show. Johnnyswim was AMAZING (what an excellent band!! I'm such a fan) and the concert was incredible overall. The lighting was DOPE but if I had to pick at something small I'd say the sound could've been better. I'm not sure if WO was responsible for the sound or if it was the artists but it was a bit low at times. Other than that, awesome night!! **oh, one more thing. WO was the first venue that I've ever seen to have VIP sit ON STAGE and eat/drink while the performance went on. I've never seen that. Not sure how I feel about it but, I thought it was very interesting. I didn't visit the bar so I can't speak for the bartender and/or drinks but, I saw lots of people with drinks and they seemed happy so, I'm guessing all is well in that department. Went to a weekday concert. Firstly, parking is either streetside or in a paid lot. We took our chances on the street and it was fine. The staff and organization here is pretty disappointing and bottom of the barrel. Literally half of the staff at the entrance refused to do any work or look remotely happy to be working or alive in general. The interior is like HOB but a little bit smaller and without the upper level. Acoustics are alright and the lightning is also alright. Overall, just wasn't super impressed with a potentially more intimate concert experience and the very disinterested staff didn't really help. read more

I was at White Oak 3 days in a row for a music fest in April 2022 (Hell's Heroes). Great fest overall and solid venue. The fest utilized the upstairs (small) stage as well as the downstairs (larger) stage + balcony surrounding it. They did not use the outdoor stage--though I wish they had as the small room only fits a few hundred people and this was a sold out crowd of 1400+. So to see a show in the small space, you had to pretty much skip an act in the large space and post up very early. In doing so, you get pretty good sound in the small room and definitely an intimate experience. If you're too near a speaker in the small room you're going to lose the vocals altogether and only hear the music, other than that solid. The downstairs space has great acoustics, there wasn't a bad spot in the house to see the show from be it on the main floor or up in the balcony. There's some decent space outside for vendors to set up. The security guards did a great job, keeping things safe without needlessly cracking down on people enjoying themselves or making it an oppressive environment. Bar? Very limited and pricey. Of course, I still drank tons but still. Beers (no tap) are $7-$12 in cans. Cheapest was Lone Star, but by day 3 they told us they were out and had no plans as a venue to restock it in the future (I mean, I'm not from TX but isn't that one of y'alls signature beers?). Asked for a jager shot, no jager. Some rotgut well whiskey and well tequila for $9 or so a shot, no trimmings. Still had plenty. read more
