I highly praise Mark the nurse who cared for my mother , he just had a way with her that made me feel comfortable and my mother in a safe environment. My mother loved it there and what is not to love she was surrounded by people that really cared for what they did . the facility is very clean and the food was good to. Thank You White Oaks for taking such good care of my mother all the way through Hospice and all.

People pay a lot of money to live here and included in that is their meals. I don't think I would give it to my dog. I think the people living there are being taken advantage of and I am hoping to bring in an advocate for these residents. In my opinion not feeding people properly borders on neglect and social services should be checking them out!

I spent many hours keeping Mom company in her room, and every single interaction I overheard between staff and residents was kind, gentle and respectful. Every staff member is helpful, regardless of whether the current need is in their job description. All laundry is done daily, and the facility is always sparkly clean. The compassion we experienced was infinitely superior to nearly every setting we've encountered in life; I felt so cared for even in our initial admission meeting. So very thankful God brought my mom to Highland Oaks.

The facility is bright and clean, the meals pretty tasty and I can't say enough good things about…read morethe staff at this facility. My 92-year old mother moved into one of their assisted living studios in the fall of 2014. Up until that point, she had lived on her own, so clearly, she wasn't very enthusiastic about the move. She wasn't as engaged in some of the activities as we might have liked, but it wasn't for lack of the staff's teasing encouragement (which she enjoyed). When her health deteriorated a year or so later, she moved into the more intimate memory care wing in a studio almost identical to the one she'd had, where the staff could keep her under watchful eyes. Before long, a hospice crew became part of her care team. As prickly as my mother could be, she was loved by members of the staff. Several of her caregivers wept the day she died and for me, that said it all. Difficult as it was, we had made the right decision. One other thing worth mentioning: it's not a huge community, so if it's important for your loved one to be in a place where everyone knows everyone else, this is a good choice.

But it is also obvious that they truly do the best with the resources they have. This goes for the Nurses and aids as well. I feel safe, cared about and that the facility is clean.

The memory care unit is self-contained, consisting of a living room atmosphere surrounded by private bed/bath rooms. The resident does not need to navigate hallways or elevators. Everyday they have activities to exercise the mind and/or body. The staff turnover is low which is a plus. The nursing staff is one of the best, not just for the resident, but also for helping us manage expectations. We went from a one-star arrangement to ta 5-star arrangement at a lower cost and highly recommend River Glen.

This review comes from the perspective of a resident in independent living in one of the town…read morehomes. My husband and I moved into the community in mid January 2025. I felt at home within the first week of our move. My husband took a little longer, but has made the adjustment. Everyone, staff and neighbors, have been very friendly and have made this transition a good one. There are plenty of activities available and our own ideas for activities are readily accepted. There is a lovely walking path within the courtyard of the townhomes and a lot of green space. Best of all, we were able to bring our dog, and she loves it here. There is frequently someone out sitting in the shade on a bench to give her attention. It is wonderful not to have to worry about outside. Maintenance responds in timely manner to issues arising in our home.
