We retained Atlas Consulting (which is apparently just a solo operation run by one Gary Weaver) to provide inspection, consulting and expert services relating to certain construction defects in our new homes. Weaver signed an engagement letter, took thousands of dollars from us and then ghosted us. At a critical time in negotiations with the home builder, when Atlas/Weaver was to deliver a detailed inspection report on 39 homes, he vanished without warning or explanation. Once he disappeared with our funds, he refused to respond to dozens of calls, text messages, emails and other outreach from any of us. And he refused to return our money. At the same time, he could be seen on social media bragging about his business activities. Weaver has a down-to-Earth manner about him that can make him seem trustworthy. But that was not our experience. We trusted and relied upon Atlas/Weaver, and it cost us dearly. Learn from our mistake: Do not hire this firm.

HMS National home warranty is a scam, stay away. After…read moreliving in my home 2 months, the water heater stopped working. I learned that its was the control value which would cost more than my deductible. I contacted HMS, they sent a plumber who lives/works 2 hours away, which made scheduling difficult. When he arrived he immediately said the water heater was installed incorrectly. My home had an inspection two months ago with nothing indicating a problem with the installation of the water heater. The plumber called me and told me that my claim was denied because my water heater was improperly installed. When I contacted HMS they told me there was nothing they could do. I could pay for a 2nd opinion (another $100) but it wouldn't matter what they said because my claim would still be denied. The supervisor was extremely rude and the plumber was very strange. I plan to file a complaint with the Indiana Insurance Commission and try to cancel the warranty Stay away!!!

I only know that I initiated a service request when the microwave oven portion of my built in KitchenAid combo stopped functioning. That was two months ago and they have still not fixed it. After a two week wait for a technician appointment they determined it needed a new magnatron but they don't carry that part in the truck so they order one and come back in two weeks. After the replacement it failed again the next day and we went through the same thing for another two weeks. Next the new part came in but was defective, now we wait again for parts and technicians. Sears has financial difficulties and will not stock their trucks with the commonly needed parts. Trying to discuss or complain about the service is useless because all of the customer service (a misnomer actually) is farmed out to the Philippines or somewhere else. Maybe that's where HMS National comes in, I don't know. Don't know why my name comes up being in San Francisco, I live in Irvine CA.

Setting up the appointment for a free inspection was easy and Ray showed up on time and performed a thorough inspection. Ray was very friendly and professional. He walked us through the problem areas that he found from his inspection. Ray provided us with a quote and explained their process using microwave and/or chemical treatments for each area. He was extremely polite and there was no pressure to sign up for the treatment We were impressed with Hi Tech's approach and competitive quote and made an appointment to have the local treatment. No tent, no bagging anything, no moving to a hotel for a few days! Frank arrived on time on the day the house was treated. Frank was friendly and professional and respectful of our home. He wore outer shoe coverings to protect the floor. Frank went up in our attic and spayed a solution to prevent termites and then followed up with the microwave treatment in part of the house, patio area and the garage . Small holes made to inject chemical treatment were filled in. After Frank was done, he provided us with the invoice and explained that we have a three year warranty against termites! This is better than provided by most tenting fumigation companies. Hi Tech also offered us an option to renew our warranty yearly for a little over $300. I recommend using Hi Tech for your local termite treatment .
