The owners of the house were extremely kind and communicative, which made everything from check-in to check-out very simple and easy. The location is lovely since it's only a few minutes outside of Hood River, but away from the busyness of the town, while being right on an orchard and across the street from a winery (which was a win for the two moms during nap time) ;) Would definitely recommend!

Part of the reason we selected Sandhill is because they are pet-friendly. We will definitely return because they are people friendly too! The cottages are rustic but well-cared for. Despite the weathered look, the beds feel "like new" and are very cozy. I took a nice soak in the tub - but also appreciated the good pressure in the shower. I spent most of the weekend in a comfy papasan chair on the front porch of our cottage, with the pooch and a book. Jay brought me great coffee which kept me warmed to the toes while I watched the rain fall - all day long. Definitely a relaxing, worry free place for a relaxing stay. Each furnished "retro" style. Cabins restored with salvaged barn wood, mixes with orginal "art deco" tubs. (we loved the bathroom) Wish mine at home was like this. The owners/caretakers Karen & Jay were so nice to deal with. Didnt care we arrived at 2am, they left the door unlocked and the heat on for us. The cottage had two pillow top beds, and were supplied with quilts, blankets, pillows etc, all very nice and comfy. The prices range from $79 - $99 a night, and they made a deal with us for the 1st night since we were arriving so late & they probably wouldnt be able to rent it out otherwise (winter being the off season) Lots of stuff to do in the area. The cottages are located within a mile of the Columbia River, there is a steamboat cruise to go on, we visited Multanomah falls, Bonneville hot springs resort, Beacon Rock (the worlds 2nd largest rock) etc. They also have an espresso stand in the office. Great esspresso. Definately a cute little find and good rates.

The rooms are large and comfortable and nicely updated and decorated. The backyard and patio are amazing, with both a pool, a hot tub, and plenty of spaces to kick back and relax w/ a cup of coffee or glass of wine. The owners are very sweet and helpful and make a wonderful breakfast. We enjoyed eggs, sausage, and hazelnut encrusted french toast, with a cup of fruit and plenty of coffee and tea and juice. We enjoyed our stay at the R&R Guest House and highly recommend it for a quick getaway from Portland!!! Highly recommend staying here if you are in The Dalles.

Or where they were so creaky that you hesitate to use the bathroom at night for fear of waking up the whole building. Truthfully, R&R Guest House is none of those things. Kevin and Julie are friendly and will help you with as much or little guidance as you want on local hikes, wineries etc. But they aren't in your face or space... Another big highlight is that this property feels new and old at the same time. Definite charm retained in their remodeling. Yet, no feeling of "this doorknob might come off in my hand." And the hot tub and pool are very, very nice. The landscaping is lush and well laid out. Finally--the two meals we hadat this B&B was consistently the best meals we had that weekend, compared to restaurants in both Hood River and The Dalles. Not too often I give an unequivocal thumbs up, but here you go.

I needed a quick, safe, comfortable, close, getaway where I could work "from home" in the mornings…read moreand hike in the afternoons. The cabins at Trout Lake went above and beyond my expectations. After a 20 mile hike around the Indian Wilderness area, I relaxed in the jacuzzi tub and then had a comfortable sleep in the cabin. The next morning I watch the sunrise over Mount Adams and then worked for a couple hours on the good wifi. There was a small kitchenette in the room to warm the food I brought from home. There is also pizza place across the parking lot. The cabins were extremely quiet and dog friendly. What a great place to relax for 3 days this fall. I'll be back again!

Parking spaces on location and optional street parking as well. Grocery store is walking distance as is the Power Station gym and Crossfit Hood River. Living room has a flat screen on the wall with hookups. Cable and Wifi too. Laundry room on grounds makes it easy. Just need quarters to wash and dry. Overall enjoyed my stay and will stay here again if I come back.

I selected Lightwell for the convenience to the brewery, which was only a few blocks away. The only drawback I found for this hotel was the parking situation. But fortunately for us since it was a holiday, street parking was all free (and close!)! The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Loved the lobby vibes and decor. Felt traditional and historical, but upscale. Our room wasn't ready (we arrived around noon) but they did take our bags for safe keeping while we were out there enjoying the town. (When we came back to the hotel later that evening, they were already in the room which was nice!) The rooms are small, but that's not a dealbreaker for us. It was cozy and nicely updated. I loved the green paint color!!! Moody but modern! The spa was so quiet and peaceful. I loved the fact that the spa was adults only. Also loved having robes available to wear! It was all lovely! There weren't any services available by the time we got back. I wasn't expecting any services since we were only there for one night, but we definitely enjoyed our time at the spa and sauna. I wished they would allow guests to bring beverages down (in the plastic wine glasses supplied in the room). A beer in the spa would've been the perfect ending to the day! I highly recommend Lightwell. We really enjoyed our time there and will definitely be back!

Well what a gem.... we were greeted with smiles and given suggestions on where to dine. We chose the rooftop and again, greeted with smiles, not scowls like at Celilo and seated with a wonderful view of the gorge. Our serve was pleasant and engaging and food suggestions were spot on! Our room was so cozy (and in this case that isn't code for "small": we had a king size bed and the room still felt spacious) with an electric fireplace and comfortable bed with giant pillows. Our bathroom had a giant, beautiful soaking tub which we did take advantage of and even my 6' tall husband found it comfortable. Everything other reviewers have stated is true: it is charming, comfortable and fun. The design and decor all feel thoughtful and natural. Every space is inviting and it seems there is something delightful to see around every corner: a DIY photo booth closet inside the front door with props (!), a make-your-own-trail-mix counter along with coffee/tea/cocoa access 24/7...even just the seating areas inside the front door made me smile. Breakfast was quite the spread & the owner/manager (?) was there with a couple of staff and even took our "order" for what kind of eggs we wanted. They were all so friendly and casual I felt like I was staying at a friend's house. One little thing I never thought I cared about: their towels were SO soft and smelled SO good. I have never experienced anything like it and now I know there is such a thing as an amazing towel experience. Check in was a breeze: there is a parking lot behind the house (1 car per room) & we basically just showed up with a door code & details texted/emailed to us and went straight to our room which was open with keys in the door waiting for us (the exterior access points to the house are all locked/secure so no worries about security).
