In North Vancouver for an event and was thinking comfort food, so off to White Spot we went. This location has free parking and was lucky to get the last remaining spot. It was Saturday around 11:30 am and it was quite busy. We requested a booth and were seated immediately. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive. One in our group wanted pancakes but our waitress advised White Spot only serves pancakes until 11:00 am. Waffles are available until 2 pm. Good to know and makes sense as they would need the grill for burgers et al for the lunch menu. We shared the chicken pot pie and the burger with sides of salad and fries. The presentation of both were quite good. The portion size and taste of the burger, fries and 'slaw was spot on. I liked the Spot Salad but found the chicken pot pie overly spiced with an herb I was not familiar with...just tasted off. With the good service and free parking, It was a positive food experience and happy to return if in the area looking for comfort food. read more

My folks and I had a really great dinner here! I got the Impossible Burger with a side salad of greens. I loved my burger! I've had a handful of impossible burgers and their flavor is delicious. And while I did love everything else I was biting into, I couldn't help but think the flavor palette was slightly lackluster. Maybe if there was an option to add spicy mayo, or just something to give the overall taste a little extra kick :) the side salad was crazy good too. I got the greens and the vinegar dressing with super yummy. I think that's what it was, like a malt vinegar vinaigrette? It also had halved little tomatoes, a few cucumbers bits, and edamame. Super delicious! Mom got the Fish and Chips and she loved hers. I tried the fries and the cole slaw, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed, especially the Cole slaw with the numerous sunflower seeds. Dad wasn't all that hungry so he just got a side of fries but surprisingly he enjoyed them which is always a plus since he can be really picky about comfort foods like that. This is my go to place to eat when I am starving and know the food is reliable. I had their usual fish burger with salad. If you have an aversion to gluten or bread, ask to have the burger wrapped in lettuce. A bit messy but worth it. There are other food choices but if you're a legendary burger fan, go for it! With the times of inflation, consider their happy hour from 2 - 5 pm and after 8 pm every day. A good selection of beer, bellinis' or wine. There's 3 categories of various appies at $6, $8, $10. They also have daily drink specials depending on the day of the week such as 'Tapped Tuesdays' - $1 off Nat's on Tap. Regardless you can't go wrong at any White Spot. Came here after hiking Lynn Loop. We actually wanted to go to another place but they were closed. We were really hungry and this was the closest one that was open. We waited about 5 minutes before we were seated however it wasn't busy, maybe 4 tables of people. We waited another 10 minutes before the waitress came over to take our order. I ordered the braised beef short rib burger and my wife had the mushroom burger. It took almost half an hour for our food to arrive. We know it took that long as we kept checking our watch as we were starving. I joked with my wife that we should have just gone to the KFC across the parking lot. I don't know why the service was so slow as other locations are a lot quicker and friendlier. I don't think I will be back at this location. read more

Their salads always have a shockingly tiny amount of protein and the salads themselves have very little substance and they aren't cheap! I LOVE their coffee though. One of my favourites and the bottomless deal is great, BUT they give you these tiny mugs that you need refilled often. "Don't worry! You can always ask our staff for refills anytime!" I'm human though and I don't want to bother the staff so much but on the other side, I do want coffee. I wish their mugs were an appropriate size. It would make customers happier and their waiters less busy. I think they give you tiny mugs to make sure you don't drink too much coffee to save pennies. read more

Thursday evening with highway backed up, thought I would have dinner here. Maybe it was because of short staffed that created a long wait to get food, but my table faced the kitchen so I could see they focus on take out orders over fine in clientele. Food tasted fine but I think it was sitting on the counter for a bit because the bottom of the chicken don buri bole was piping hot but the upper items cooled down and the chicken dried out. All that and the place was only a little over half full. White Spot has definitely gone down hill over the past couple years. read more

Came here for dinner just a few hours ago with my family and my sister's in laws. The food was pretty good but it wasn't spectacular as it tasted pretty much like any other food similar to their restaurant. The waiter we had was definitely friendly and helpful with our orders. The only thing about the food that I liked the most (I ordered the New York steak) were the smashed potatoes. The end result? I would recommend only coming here if you needed some quick ideas for a meal and is too lazy to cook, but many nearby places is a lot better than this place in terms of food and the prices. read more

Sadly it only gets a 2 star, had to round down. For the most part the food wasn't really good except the double burger (can't call it a Double Double because that would be blasphemy, there is only one place that can claim the Double Double and if you don't know that's In N Out then you lead a sad, sad existence). So I was saying. The double burger was freaking awesome, but it had absolutely NO supporting cast. The Caesar salad, ehh. The fries, ehh, the service, ehhhh, even the ranch for the dipping sauce, ehhhh. Come on whitespot, get your act together man. I stopped in here with my grandmother and father in law at the beginning of the pandemic before everything and everyone went into quarantine. They had already taken all the stuff off of the tables and were taking other precautions. But given that there was barely anyone there, we waited quite a while to place our orders and then our drinks. The food was OK, but the other locations I've been too it seems better. My chicken sandwich was literally falling apart from the abundance of mayo that was on it. My grandmother and father in law had no qualms about their meals but they both got things they didn't have to alter. It was OK and I know that it was at the beginning of a tough time for us all, but there is room for improvements. read more

The service staff here is appalling. My friend and I have gone in 3 Thursdays in a row with her daughter and young son. Each time we get sat at the same table in the same section and are blessed to have the same rude server. Every time. It is simple things like asking to see the breakfast menu and her saying no. I ask is it still breakfast? Yes, but just tell me what you want and I will tell you if we are still serving it. Really? I just want to see the menu. White Spot is usually pretty good for customer service but this one is just not. Like they don't even try. A little effort would be appreciated. I continue to give Whitespot a chance over and over maybe once a year and no matter how many " new" menus and items they get it never gets better. How on earth is this chain still in business?? We went in about 6 at night to a mostly empty restaurant. Warning. There is a reason. Server was ok made a few gaffes but was mostly there there to try to Upsell. Once we didn't order alcohol the service dropped off. They have ANOTHER new menu- so many - I wonder why they just never get it right? Once again their halibut and chips adds were on tv but not available in the restaurant. Third year in a row for me. Anyway they had the new gross beyond burger which all reports say they can't cook properly and a bunch of new "healthy" items. None seemed appealing and I usually look for that at restaurants. Sides other than fries even salad a big upcharge. Ok so we ended up ordering one hamburger with onion rings and one shrimp sandwich with fries and two pop. With tax and tip this average meal rang in at close to $50!! What?? The prices for the quality of food is outrageous! Red seal chefs? My a$$. I remember a shrimp sandwich that had An inch of shrimp filling! No more - all you could see was the bread and I had to open it to find any shrimp. Burger was fine but no raves about whitespot triple O! Fries were boring and unseasoned ( not even salt!) and onion rings were big fat and greasy served with white glop. My mom took me for lunch here. They've renovated since my last visit (admittedly, it's been a few years) and the place looks trendier. We were seated in the lounge without even being offered the choice of the dining room. Our waitress wasn't really that friendly and, on the whole, the service was average. I ordered a Double Double burger and shared some of my mom's blueberry pie. Sadly, my burger wasn't as good as it usually is. The coleslaw was a little dry and tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. The fries were just average. But the blueberry pie (if you could call it a pie) was the worst. Some slightly soggy blueberries on a pie crust barely bigger than a cracker and covered in gross-tasting whipped cream left me feeling more than a little sick. Stood at the entrance, ignored by the host/seating person. This person then stands with his back to me attending to inserting papers into the menus. He then seats me next to the bathrooms, although other tables are available. Lost my appetite, left without ordering. I've met colleagues here in the past for a business meeting and coffee or lunch and always had super pleasant service from the great wait staff. And I was looking pretty cool this morning with my freshly-bobbed 'do, my pricey thierry rabotin shoes and my stylin' ensemble. What's up White Spot? Our family (16people) does a regular brunch once a month. We called this particular White Spot and reserved from 2 weeks prior and showed up and they had absolutely no sign of of our reservation. They took no responsibility for missing our reservation. After going back and forth with attitude they placed some tables together and were able to seat us. The Manager at this location is plain rude and has absolutely no customer service skills. The only pleasant part of our brunch was the waitress (name tag was Lilian) that was serving us. She was courteous and polite. We could all see the way the manager was mistreating her and the rest of the staff. Food was good but, I will not go back here only because of the management staff! Food was ok. Always come here because my daughter loves Pirate Paks and for $5.99 it's a great meal deal. So I come, try something new but find the adult food to be ok, at best. Sorry White Spot. Kids love you though. I will add that customer service here could be better here as well. Hoping management sees this and improves their training program. I hope they learn something from Earl's and Cactus Club, their servers know how to manage guests. Time and again I've had servers who clearly don't like their job or having to take care of customers. Why are they here? How did they get hired? I'm nice, I'm understanding, and I'm not demanding at all. But when a server forgets to give you your drinks, the side you ordered and then gives you attitude when she finally brings it without an apology or even a smile, that is just plain rude. And then abandons my table, after sitting unattended for about 10 minutes a hostess finally asks if I'm done and offers my daughter to bring her ice cream. Wow. Worst experience here yet. I was holding my one year old baby for 40 mins without any help from the restaurant. 7:20pm, we finally sat down, but there was nobody come to serve us. After another 20 mins wait, I was really upset, especially I saw people came after us got their water served and food orders placed. I asked for the manager. He showed up and still there was no server to look after us. By 7:40pm, I couldn't wait any longer and decided to leave. I don't understand why they can treat their customer like this. My mother and I went here for breakfast. Upon entering, our host took us to a table, mumbled the special (we had no idea what it was), and took off. The hostess was moderately friendly, but had to return a couple of times to check things on our order. The most disappointing portion of the whole meal was the food itself. The pancakes tasted like they came from a box, sort of like a well refined mix of sponge and sawdust. The fruit salad was neither ripe, nor fresh, and has an odd aftertaste. The only redeeming item was the poached eggs and even those weren't enough to make me want to come again. Hopefully, this was a one off experience and other people have enjoyed breakfasts here; my mother swears by it, so I suppose it is possible. read more

We recently chose to hold our monthly lunch meeting at Whitespot. I called in advance and explained what I needed and they were very receptive. Upon arrival they had a corner table setup for us and attended to our needs right away. Our server, Teresa, was magnificent. Perfect balance between attentiveness and leaving us to have our meeting. My husband took me here for breakfast since he had a good dining experience for dinner the last time he went to Vancouver. We got seated right away and I ordered the egg's benedict and substituted the hashbrown with fresh fruit. I wasn't too impress with the egg's benedict. The egg is normally runny on an egg's benedict and this one wasn't. The Canadian bacon was good however. The fresh fruit was pretty bad and I thought it was a day or maybe two days old. I took a bite of the cantaloupe and spit it in my napkin. My hubby ordered the BC Sunny Start, which was bacon, cheddar, tomato, with a special sauce sandwiched between a bun. The meal came with the hashbrown. He ate it all and told me that it wasn't bad. After we ate, he told me that I need to try either dinner or lunch at White Spot. Food took over 30 mins to come to us in an empty restaurant, and we got to watch it sit under the warmer in the window most of that time. Server was no where to be found. It's not even close to closing and all the FOH staff was sitting at the bar chatting and gossiping and laughing away doing nothing. Mind you we were about 4 feet away from them. Went on a rainy Saturday night with our 2 grandchildren. Everything started out fine with good service and then the food came. I am sorry but cooking French fries isn't rocket science. The entree was ok but then our waitress disappeared and everyone had experienced this before. Every waiter and waitress developed tunnel vision. Eye contact was not possible. To me this is a management and training issue. After 20 minutes I went to the reception area and the hostess managed to find our waitress so we could pay the bill. We are officially DONE with this place. The quality and service has been steadily declining over the years (while the prices have steadily risen), to the point where it is just no longer worth it. It's sad, because White Spot use to be such an amazing diner! Now it's just a disappointing shell of what it use to be. My mother use to work here in the 90's, and even she cannot believe how far downhill it has gone. What a shame! A friendly warning: DO NOT ORDER TAKEOUT, unless you want to get home to find that they have gotten the order wrong, or completely left out certain items. This has happened to us so many times that I've lost count. Also, their takeout fries are HORRIBLE (usually a handful of crispy burnt shards and the grayish hard fries that they don't want to serve to their dine-in customers). They are usually pretty good at compensating for the mistakes by remaking the order or giving a voucher (if you are willing to drive all the way back down to the restaurant), but tonight was the last straw. We decided to get take-out (why, oh why?), and I ordered a vegetarian caesar wrap, with portobello mushrooms instead of chicken (which I've ordered many times before). We had made sure to confirm with them that it was vegetarian, and we were ASSURED that it did not contain any chicken or bacon. I only noticed after taking it home and having a few bites that it was actually full of meat (I was pretty mortified). We called them back and they offered us a new one to be picked up in 10 minutes. So, back into the car. When we got THIS one home, it was complete crap. It was basically just dry lettuce (barely any dressing), no parm cheese, with about 4 shriveled up button mushroom slices, in a cold, stiff, burnt tortilla wrap, carelessly thrown together, and coming unwrapped. It was pretty much inedible, so we called back AGAIN and were told by the manager that there was nothing else to be done, and that they had already done US a favor by replacing the wrap with the correct order. Yeah, $15+ for lettuce in a dry tortilla. Thanks a lot! It was not even worth the gas it took to drive back down there. Overall, a complete waste of time and money. I honestly don't know why we have kept coming back for so long. I guess out of hope that they will get their act together someday, but I just don't see that happening. Goodbye White Spot! read more

Terrible all around. Went there for dinner last night at 6:10PM. Told there was a half hour wait when we put our name on the wait list. We were the last ones left in the waiting area when we were finally shown to a table at 6:40PM. The blonde girl who poured the water walked away while I was still talking as soon as we didn't order drinks. The waitress took our order at 6:50PM and tried to sell us appetizers. We told her we didn't have time and were in a hurry as the show we were seeing started at 7:30. The food finally arrived almost 1/2 hour later at 7:15PM - we had to have it packed to go. The turkey dinner and the burger were extremely salty. We ate it at 11PM after returning home from the show. We will never go to this White Spot again. We go to other White Spots regularly, mostly the one on Kingway and Knight where the food and service are excellent. We have had take out from the Market Crossing White Spot and the food and service are both excellent here. read more

After my terrible experience the first time, the owner personally contacted me to apologize and invited me back to have a meal on them so they could make things right with me. I really did appreciate them reaching out and making sure their customers are satisfied but I still feel like there are many others not receiving great service from this location who just don't bother to review it. Always seem to order the turkey dinner: White Spot is one of the only places around that offers a nice traditional plate with stuffing, mashed potatoes, hot vege, moist turkey, gravy and cranberry sauce-all year round. Used to go after teaching night school, just before the restaurant was closing, and the turkey was still tender and moist. Obviously the food is not sitting around for hours in steamer trays. This is not gourmet fare, but soul satisfying when you have a craving. Had a life changing experience in this location years ago. I had come in wearing my worst clothes, after cleaning my house prior to a move. As my purse was heavy with change, I decided to pay my bill with pennies, nickels and dimes. I carefully counted out my bill, plus tip, in dollar piles on the table. I then called over the waitress to pay, and she flabbergasted me by telling me some kind soul had seen me carefully counting my change, and my rough clothes, had paid my bill for me, and had left, so I couldn't even thank them. That was the dearest thing that had ever been done for me! I asked the waitress to take my money, plus a few more bills i added, and to pay it forward to the next person who looked needy. This is a lovely thing to do: to pay it forwarad -anonymously pay for someone sitting nearby who looks like their resources are limited. read more

It started off with being ignored at the front. Made to wait 5 minutes for a table due to most tables being dirty. Then had to sit next to a table that was so dirty and smelled bad. Plus the carpet in and around us was filthy. Our food took 40 minutes but it actually sat there under the hot lights for 15 min. Being that it had salads on the plates it was wilted and hot. The fish tacos were soggy. The ceasar wrap was hot. The manager was horrible as he just kept walking by us with the table next to us and all the other tables dirty around us. I came here with my family for dessert one night after we attended a Christmas concert. We used to always go for hot chocolate and pie at White Spot after we went on the Stanley Park train as kids, so it was something of a tradition. Since we were in North Vancouver, we hit up this establishment. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a bad idea. First of all, it took a while to get seated, even though the place was pretty much deserted. Then the servers seemed a bit confused by the fact that we only wanted to see the dessert menu (really guys, it was after 8pm!). Then we noticed that White Spot had changed their dessert menu and were no longer offering the big-portioned and yummy desserts of days gone by. My mom ordered the apple crumble and they mistakenly brought her the "mini version" of an apple tart (they are doing this new thing at White Spot where they have "mini versions" of their desserts). But she didn't know this until we got the bill, so we just thought they had significantly decreased their portion sizes. The tart looked like one of those shells you buy frozen at the grocery store, and didn't taste much better. I ordered a specialty hot chocolate, which came with salt on the rim instead of sugar, and a brownie, which unfortunately had bits of plastic in it. I will say that when we pointed this out to the waiter he was lovely and apologetic. The manager came over to apologize and gave me my order for free. The staff were really very nice about the whole thing. That being said, overall the experience has pretty much turned me off of White Spot. I'm not sure if it is just this location or all White Spots, but they have changed their menu and not for the better. read more
