Stopped by Browns Socialhouse for Happy Hour and had a solid experience. We ordered two beers, the fried cauliflower, Thai chicken bites, and a small Cowboy Salad. Everything was really solid. The fried cauliflower was the standout for me--the dip was especially good, with a creamy, tangy flavor that reminded me of a tzatziki-style yogurt dip. The Thai chicken bites had a nice balance of sweet and spicy, and the Cowboy Salad was fresh and tasty. I've been to Browns Socialhouse a number of times over the past year and the main thing I've noticed is that they consistently provide excellent service, great food and just an overall nice place to go for a few drinks with a friend, a business lunch or a large group. Some of my favourite menu items are the nachos with spiced beef, the cowboy salad, and the Big Island Poke Bowl. I like the fact that they offer smaller portions for some of their dishes (like the nachos!) and they have a very good variety of different items to suit pretty much everyone. They also have some really great tasting mocktails - my favourite is the Passion Fruit Soda. Perfect for after work drinks if you have to drive home after! The staff are also very knowledgeable about the menu and are always able to make great recommendations when I've been undecided on something. You can also make reservations through the Yelp app, which is so convenient. Highly recommend this spot. read more

Very disappointing experience this visit. The food and the Service weren't up to par. The seaweed on the Dynamite Crunch Roll was inedible. Impossible to chew. $17 for a Double Caesar and you couldn't taste or feel the Vodka. We watched our server load and unload the dishwasher right behind the Hostess Stand while we waited to order. Found this gem on our way back to the US. We wanted to take a look at Surrey BC and since we weren't pressed for time we stopped. It's a nice layout with a bar. They are family friendly since there was more than one kids soccer team there. The menu has some good choices. I went with a butcher block burger with poutine which is an up charge. I didn't care. This the first time I have been to this Browns and all I can say is wow! We had a reservation for six. The table wasn't ready but we waited for a few minutes which was ok as they were clearing the table. This one had a bench seating which we preferred. We were looked after by Jose who was the bartender. What a guy. The restaurant was only half full so not as noisy as other ones. Tv was on and the canucks were playing but the sound was off. Great atmosphere, we all loved it because we didn't have to yell over anything. We used our normal voices. To the food. I started with the Thai soup. It was creamy which I love, not runny like other places. I had the half Alfredo chicken. 2 ordered the fish tacos, tiki tuna bowl and dragon bowl. All tasted fantastic, 0 complaints. What was amazing was that all the food arrived at the same time. The other waiters chipped in to deliver the food to the table. Never had service like that. Usually the waiter brings two to three plates at a time then goes back for the others. All of the food was hot and great. A rare 5 star from me as the dinner was perfect. read more

The food was good, however the service is a bit of a hit or miss. I felt that there were not enough servers when there were quite a few tables. But when we finished our food and the pacing died down. I mentioned to the server what we need, it took about 15 minutes watching the server moved around when we are already ready to pay the bill and leave. Just thought it was a bit odd that it took that long just to bring us boxes. The food is also on the expensive side, while they're great, I couldn't really justify the food and its pricing until happy hour. Food was a solid 3.5, good but nothing that blew me away, but the service - or lack thereof - is what makes this an overall 2 rating for me. Food took a long time to come out for our table, and once we got our food we had to ask for water refills, and sat for nearly an hour without anyone coming by to check on us, ask if we wanted anything else, etc. It was not busy by any means, otherwise I would have more understanding of delays and lack of attention. read more

I ordered avocado toast with poached eggs and a side salad with a Bellini. The service was excellent and amiable. The restaurant is huge and spacious with the bar in the middle. Sadly, the food was disappointing. My egg poached tasted sour, the avocado was toast was bland and Bellini was a slushy with I didn't expect. I am not used it. Came here after work. I picked this location because I had to drop off a colleague who lives within walking distance from Browns. I met up with a former colleague here. We shared a chipotle chicken pizza. It was very delicious. I did find the pizza had too much bbq sauce. Other than that it was perfect. The location was great because it was close to King George Station. I was coming here by car and my biggest issue was finding the way to get into their parking lot. Luckily, you can enter from the back road. Also the front entrance was fully parked with cars at 6 pm. I had to park behind the restaurant. It was still ok. Super packed at 6 pm. Around 7:30, the place cleared up. I am talking about on a Wednesday night here so I am not sure about the other days. I would assume it is just as busy on other nights. read more

First time visiting Vancouver and was looking for restaurants close to my Airbnb - I discovered Browns and not being a local I did notice other locations did not have favourable reviews but I was hopeful. Came here on a Thursday evening with a large party (10+) and were seated on the patio. The sun is strong but the server kindly lowered the shades which helped. There is an extensive menu and although no actual kid menu - they do offer a 'kid' menu, just ask them. Overall food and service was good - no complaints. Food arrived in a timely manner, we shared calamari, nachos and chicken wings in addition to our entrees. I recommend the chicken wings here, they were pretty tasty (surprisingly!). Beer pricing is decent too - so if you are beer drinker, I recommend coming here for a drink! I ordered the veggie burger and upgraded my French fries to the sweet potato fries (it is listed as yam fries on the menu though). Burger was satisfying and not a poor attempt at a veggie burger unlike most I've had. Everything was good and if you get the sweet potato fries request to have them cooked 'well done' so it's crispy. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised with good food and friendly service. My cousin who is a local was also surprised with Browns because she said other locations were horrible and would not recommend - so come to this location, they are doing it right here! read more

Ordered the Liberty tomato and Mozzarella pizza during a work lunch. The sauce was bland and the crust was rubbery. I finally ordered a side of ranch halfway through so that the pizza would have some flavour. The service here however was really good with our waters always being topped up and different servers asking if we were doing ok. One place that is reasonable and classy is browns social house . I have been to couple of locations n most of them are packed at night. There good decor especially the fireplace at the patio is major attraction. Talking about food, i would say is very nice. Healthy n good portions. I love there salads n last time we were four friends and ordered nachos. I must say that i have never had nachos so well done with good portion of dressing as here n we gobbled them all.. Not sure if they actually deserve any star nor any ratings. We order a full loaded Nachos and came with half size. The waitress came back with apologize and told them the half size nacho is on the house and will bring a correct order which was never served. Also order a seltzer and waiter just drop of a can on the table and walked away. Had to ask them for a glass and gave me a look. Not sure how they teach their employees but don't have any single work etiquette. And The Manager.... She is wearing pink prom dress... to work??? Am I on "you got punked?" There are not a lot of restaurants in the area and this is a popular spot for the office crowd. Super busy with large tables due to the holiday season but they over booked at the sacrifice of customer seating comfort. Service for our group of 9 started well. Friendly and helpful. Then downhill. Said our food was coming out in a couple of minutes and 25 minutes later .... forgot items we requested. Even forgot an egg in another guest's ramen. Took forever to get the bill. Ramen was spicy but did not have enough broth. And what it did have was too thick, like a gravy. Good potential. I usually get the tuna poke and will stick with that next time. We came here for lunch from the office. My boss had the fish tacos. Generous portions of fish in each of the two tacos. A mixtures of coleslaw and jalapeños in a creamy dressing made the tacos disappear after they arrived. That is how good they were. Two in our party split the seafood pizza. It was a white sauce with shrimp and cheese. Both said they loved the crust with this hand tossed gem. I had the bison burger. Excellent Burge with a decent portion of fries - no onion rings here. The bison patty was thick and juicy and cooked perfectly. Our other guest had the hamburger fully loaded with bacon and cheese. He too was very satisfied with his choice. The service was good especially given the lunch time rush. The noise level was decent so you didn't need to scream to be heard. The many TVs offered enough by way of news and sports recap shows. Excellent customer service! The key lime pie is delightful! That's a high compliment coming from me as I was used to fresh key lime pie in the Florida Keys. I enjoy coming here and wantes to explain why I gave 3 instead of 4 stars. Its because of the lack of consistency with portions. I ordered a salad meal and it was such a small salad! It cost a full meal price so I was expecting a large meal size salad. The salad IS delicious though! This was was more a side salad with a bit of shrimp/bacon crumbles. For what it costs for a salad, portions much to small. I was still hungry after :( I will still come back but I sure hope the salad portions increase to meet the cost of it! read more

This location is by far better than any other I've tried. I usually avoid Brown's but I will happily come back here. The staff were lovely, knowledgeable and the kitchen crew really seem to care about what they put out. I ate here with family on a non-busy night. The restaurant setup is stunning -- seating, washrooms, even the wait staff. Immaculate detail throughout. Getting a seat was instant. The service was fast and friendly. However the food was underwhelming. It's the same-old bar-style food you find at Cactus Club, Earls, etc. ie. burgers, pizza, nachos. Everything with wheat and dairy, so almost no options for vegetarians, gluten-free, dairy-free. I would like to spend more time and money here but there's nothing I want to eat. I had the lettuce-wrapped burger (I have celiac and there was no gluten-free bun option). That came with like 10 or 12 yam fries -- an incredibly small and underwhelming portion. Eh, left hungry. It would be nice to see more attention to food options beyond what you get can in a frozen section at a grocery store. Considering how much money they spent on the restaurant experience, the kitchen options seem very underwhelming and poorly thought-out. Should get a Michelin chef to re-invent the menu and give it some meaningful purpose. read more

I have been to other Brown's locations before, and the service has been great, but this location was different. The staff was not attentive, at one point I waited 10 minutes for a refill on my drink. The food itself was great. The calamari was great and did not taste like reused oil. The tuna poke bowl was mostly rice with very littler tuna; perhaps it should be called a tuna rice bowl because I have had poke bowls before and they are not supposed to have that much rice. The price point for their food is far more expensive than it should be. The quality of the food does not warrant such a high price. There are other options in the city that offer a better bang-for-your-buck food selection. read more

The Happy Hour is before 6PM, you can get half prices for the Chicken Wings and Beers. In this way, We ordered three plates of Chicken Wings. Mmmm. Chicken Wings are always my favourite. The servers were friendly and helpful here. The food came fast. The taste of Wings was decent, but no meat on the wings. Also, they were dry, which is a little bit disappointed. Comparing with Wings Pizza Hut, I believe that Pizza Hut Chicken Wings are the best. We also ordered dessert: Key lime pie $6.95. It was very tasty. I love it, but it's a little bit expensive. second time visiting and it great seated right away in a comfy booth no wait at 6:30 on a Friday waitress was very good and checked on us regularly but not bothered us husband had the fish sandwich which was a first for him it came with a slaw on it which he was about to pull off but decided to try it first he has never had a slaw before and thought it was quite good and kept it on it size of the sandwich was fair but too small for him but very tasty and cooked perfect I had the hickory burger with bbq sauce bacon and cheddar it was not too heavy with bbq sauce which I enjoyed it was good but for me a burger is a burger equivalent to a Boston pizza burger or red robin burger friend had the beef dip it was on a baguette and quite large and tasty she could only eat half so husband ate other half another friend had the dragon bowl (think that is what it's called) it was terriyaki bowl made with chicken or tofu she said it tasted great and a decent portion could of come with a slice of bread or toasted baguette it was hot day so we all had water and she brought a glass jug as well so that was great because their glasses as small I would recommend this location so far read more

Really bad service and unprofessional manager. Would not recommend this location. Waitress was not helpful, had to ask for service 3 times from the bar. When asked questions about specials her response was everything is special. Very slow service it wasn't even busy. I've been to other browns and it was my first time checking this one out. The service was okay. Our waitress came around to ask us for food, another server dropped the food off and we got checked on at the end and asked if we wanted dessert. Our server in particular wasn't very friendly, yet another one chatted more with us just as she was cleaning up other tables. In terms of food I got the general taos chicken. It was good but for some reason not as good as I remember it being, the chicken seemed a bit bland and there were also a few pieces of calamari in my dish... (I like calamari so I didn't mind haha buuuut if it's not your cup of tea it may have been a turn off).
