Came here for brunch, very impressed by service and quality of food here. My dad and my aunt ordered the steelhead benedict and bbq chicken sandwich and LOVED it. My mom got a shrimp benedict which she found tasty but not as good as the steelhead. My spaghetti and meatballs were decent, not amazing but the portions were generous and it also came with buttery garlic bread. This place is a far cry from when I worked there years ago. I suppose management doesn't encourage their staff to be informed of what the daily soup is or what the menu has to offer. Although the server was polite and friendly, she was uninformed on above mentioned. Service was slow, even for coffee refills; coffee cost is $3.25 a cup so for that price, refills should be readily available...not so this morning. Three adults (all previous industry servers) and two children, we waited far too long (15 mins after ordering) for the server to inform us that the soup my friend ordered was in fact not available. Finally our food arrived somewhat warm and obviously sitting for a while. We ate it anyway because waiting for new meals to come would have put the kids over the edge. I did explain everything politely to management and he provided a 15% discount. Very unimpressed with the lack of decent service. I doubt my return to this establish is imminent. My usual go too at white spot since turning vegetarian is the chipotle quesadilla. No chicken sub extra veggies. But at the urging of my sister I finally gave the portobello provolone veggie burger a go. Faux meats admittedly creep me out as they are pretty authentic in appearance. But after extensive comparison to my boyfriends beef burger. I finally dug in.The flavour was amazing. The portobello mushrooms where thick and plentiful. It also came with grilled zucchini and red pepper. The patty was spot on. It tasted very"meatloafy".Soft and moist. Next time I will try a veggie patty with Monty mushroom toppings. read more

Gets worse each time we go back. The last time for us. The service is very slow and when the food does finally Come it is cold. The burgers are very dry and not edible. I received a message from one of the managers via Yelp. He was not on shift during the evening I was there for the Harvest dinner miscommunication. He personally called to apologize, to which I said was not his fault as he was not there. He asked for my mailing address so the restaurant could send a gift card as an apology. I said the gift card was not necessary, because that was not I was aiming for, and plus I don't like to give out my address. But he was very generous and said he wanted to give it to a long time loyal WS customer to rectify the situation. So I gave out 1 of my tenants' addresses (I rent several apartments out) and told them to watch for a mail from White Spot for me. (I was careful not to tell my tenants it was a gift card, otherwise they might use it and lie to me that they never got it, haha.) When they passed it on to me, inside the envelope was a personal typed letter from the manager and a $40 gift certificate enclosed. WS has won me back as a customer again with their quality customer service experience. My family (parents and grandparents) have been going to WS for the last 20 years as a family go-to place. We were going to stop going to WS and look for a new family restaurant venue after the previous negative Harvest experience, but now I would like to return to WS again and again with my family. We usually frequent the WS Park Royal in West Vancouver and WS Kitsilano, where they give amazing service, so I'll chalk up this one negative experience in Richmond as a one-off. The manager (who was not there that evening, so it was 100% not his fault) resolved it professionally, going above and beyond what I would expect. I may also post this up to my 9000+ connections on LinkedIn, to show an example to other brand managers on White Spot's example of winning a dissastified loyal customer back. I've been here a few times as it is right across Aberdeen train station. I have a few friends that live in Richmond, therefore, this is accessible for the both of us. I found there service to always be reasonable and prices standard with all other WS locations. It does lack atmosphere and feels like a seniors dine in than it does a signature burger joint like the other locations. Very depressing. A lot of their choices now have calories listed. If you're a single diner they will offer you a paper to read so that you don't feel so alone. read more

White Spot is a White Spot, where the food is just how you'd expect. The Richmond location is alright, the service is subpar, and the seats are rather cramped. I ordered the baby back ribs, which were moist, flavourful, and had a substantial amount of meat on the bones. However, the fries were horrible. They weren't crispy and were actually hard and shrivelled up! They looked like they had been sitting there for a while. The caesar salad that came on the side didn't taste very fresh, and was literally the size of a spoon. I had also ordered zoo sticks, which are deep fried zucchinis. These were a disappointment as well. Even though they had been deep fried the batter lacked crunchiness and was rather soggy. The sauce that came on the side wasn't very good either and tasted like plain ranch. Overall, my bill came to $25 before tips for one person. $$ considering that White Spot is a casual family restaurant. read more

Average food with a slightly higher than average cost, but friendly nonetheless. But the kids menu is what brought me here. Keeps my little one occupied while I eat. They have the pirate themed menu for the kids. Personally I think a farm would be more appropriate for the restaurant but whatever. Anyway, the food is average. I would have preferred they offer 2% milk instead of 1% and rather than ice cream offer jello or yogurt. Especially since parents are so much more healthy conscience now. I got the Asian chicken salad, nothing too special about it. I've certainly had better. I don't think it was worth the $12 that's for sure. Came in here for a quick meal and wasn't expecting much. I wound up pleasantly surprised as the hearty breakfast was extremely solid, nothing was bad. Coffee was great, pancakes were extremely good, eggs were well cooked. Honestly baffled by how good everything was, i usually don't expect much when I eat at White Spot and expect everything to be mediocre. Everything was perfect. We came here on a busy Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was full but the atmosphere wasn't rushed; we waited 10-15 minutes for a table. I ordered a BC Chicken Burger with no tomato and extra Triple O sauce on the side. It took about 10 minutes to get here, and the server brought me a BC burger with beef and extra chipotle sauce on the side. I double checked with her regarding the correct order and she brought it back immediately, which I was grateful for. I don't blame her as I may have spoken too quietly, or she had too many orders to handle. The chicken itself was juicy but bland, however the sauce and the bacon improved it. The fries seem to have greatly improved in the last few weeks - they're crispy on the outside and soft inside. Coleslaw was fine as usual, nothing special. The price went up. The burger used to be $13 and now it's $17. Sadly, I cannot taste the difference of their burger compared to A&W's $6 burger. Plus, their burger size are smaller. A rip-off. Poor waitress tried to carry too many plates but fell one plate on the floor then bouncing back to the bench with broken pieces hit my friend's back. The manager just came to ask how was she feel without apologizing. My friend felt scratching pain afterwards and went to talk to her, she try to argue with my friend that it because my friend let the waitress to carry too many plate, what a joke? By the way I didn't even see this manager helped her staffs once to server even one table even she knows customers were waiting too long for their food. She has been hiding in the back all the time! Usually Whitespot is solid. We went there for brunch, and weren't treated as hospitably as we normally are. It took the better part of 10 minutes to even get the attention of a waitress, and then a another 5 minutes or so to get seated in spite of the place being only at 20% capacity at the time. We were seated, and my mom and We both ordered nats hearty breakfast she had bacon I had sausage. Anyhow, it took a bit. When it came I realized, they served me bacon as well. Anyhow they were going to send sausage. We started to eat and the food was totally cold. My mom, couldn't even put butter on her waffles, it just sat there with hug clumps of unmelted butter, and the waffles were dry tough and chewy. She sent it back her breakfast was cold. I sent mine back as my toast had a thick layer of cold unmelted butter on my toast. At that point, we just said we'd had enough, we'd been there the better part of an hour and were no longer hungry and we had places to be. They comped out meal as we didn't eat it. When I asked to speak with the manager about the shotty service he was dismissive and basically said I'll pass on your concerns along to the chefs. He didn't try to rectify the poor way we were treated, just dismissed us. Anyway, the staff at this whitespot isn't the nicest and theyre no super organized. I won't be going back here. Worst dining experience I have ever had. My fries came out stale, the burger was bland and burnt and a hair in my water. The kitchen was blasting their music and playing with the lights. At one point, the lights actually went out and a staff member from the kitchen yelled out "SORRY!". I notified the server of the negative experience but still insisted i was going to pay for my meal. I asked for the debit machine and went to wash my hands before I made the payment. However, when I went to the washroom, there was no soap in the dispenser and paper all over the floor. I asked the server if I can use their hand washing sink to wash my hands. She gave me a blank stare and left without saying anything to me. After a few ninutes of sitting and waiting for her to return, I had to call for another server who said "I don't know why she isn't letting you". I went to wash my hands and came back to a debit machine on my table without start of payment and nobody there to start it. After all that, I asked to speak to the manager who took his time to get to our table and smirked while he just nodded at what I was telling him. He was just as unhelpful as the rest of his staff and blamed that they were "cleaning tonight" and "have alot to improve on". The place wasn't very busy but the food took forever to come to our table and when it did get to the table my food was cold and the eggs were way undercooked. Pirate Packs!!! Okay I got that out of my system...I came here with my friend and her two kids (aged 4 and 6) it was kinda cool since I grew up with this restaurant. This particular location I have known so many people to have worked here during the school days... Not to mention the many times we would come here just to relax with a cup of coffee and dessert with the girls. I remember the pirate packs fondly cuz when I was a child, I used to get them, and oddly enough the favourite park being the gold chocolate coin. Having grown up slightly since, I shared a chicken burger platter with my friend, and then we split dessert after. The kids got chicken fingers and fries, and mac & cheese and grapes, and then chocolate ice cream after for dessert. The crayons and books kept them occupied for 12 minutes, and then deconstructing their boats and colouring took care of the next 30 minutes. The hostess, servers were über patient with us, and also with the kids, they were very warm and smiley. That was nice. I did feel bad for the one non childrened couple sitting across from us, since I noticed there were 2 other families with young children around. The seats were comfortable, and it was lit enough to not feel sleepy or blinded. The burger was exactly as I remembered, and the dessert trio (we couldn't decide so we went with the sampler) was fantastic, in particular their Dutch Apple Pie. We were surprised at how good that was! Overall, it's a kid-friendly restaurant that provided activity (crayons, pirate boat) for the children, so that we had a chance to catch up and chat, and that in itself was winning a great battle. my friend and I called in advance to see if we would be able to sit on the patio (just in case it wasn't open). we were told that was completely fine! based on the service we received it seemed as if we were a burden because we wanted to enjoy the sun..? we arrive and get seated promptly. our server came out and asked for drink orders. two waters and one of their raspberry tea slush (amazing drink btw). took a long time to receive our drinks and only one water was brought out. we proceeded to order our meals, and waited what seemed to be a little longer then necessary considering the restaurant was dead. my poutine and zoo sticks were brought out and my food was absolutely cold. my fries were soggy and the gravy was around room temperature. my friend also complained of cold fries. when I walked through the restaurant to the washroom I noticed plates of food ready to be served just sitting there and servers standing around and gossiping. not very impressed! I finally received my water after asking for it yet again and found a hair in it. overall, my experience wasn't great, and I've been to this location before and have gotten better service. don't know if there's been a change in management or training but definitely not thrilled about most recent visit. read more

But their promotion dishes are pretty good, especially their pumpkin soup and fettucini carbonara. If the dishes aren't on their regular everyday menus, they taste better... I order from white spot every week on Wednesdays. I complete the online survey and always given the $5 discount on take away orders for my loyalty to the company and location. The manager Venu Sugathan refused to honour the discount. He was not approachable and was argumentative. He did not display appropriate customer service that would be expected of a simple employee, let alone a manager who is to lead a team of employees and represent a company brand. Every other manager and every other white spot location has never refused to honour the $5 discount. This was an extremely disappointing experience and showed that there is no customer appreciation or loyalty. For someone who spends in excess of $3,000 a year minimum at white spot, I am extremely disappointed with this experience. I am going to have to consider giving my business to another restaurant due to this experience and the incompetence of Venu Sugathan. Furthermore, for the last few visits at white spot the quality of the food has deteriorated. For the third week in a row the club house sandwich was poorly made. The lettuce that was put into the sandwich was the husk, which not only is ridiculous to put in a sandwich but it appeared to be rotted brown - or maybe this was just dirt on the lettuce because it did not appear to be clean either. I am extremely unsatisfied with the manager. I must say that the server was very friendly and very apologetic on behalf of the kitchen and also the inept manager Venu. I am not one to complain, but given the repeated decline in quality and now the experience with Venu, the condescending and incompetent manager, I will not recommend this location to anyone and I will have to reconsider whether I will return again. I would suggest that at a minimum Venu should be retrained if not removed from his position as manager. read more
