Breakfast special B - pancakes, scramble egg, bacon strips with salty butter

My colleague recommended this place for breakfast. Located in the central of Lonsdale, everything here brings you back to the 80s with basic breakfast/brunch choices. I ordered pancake, scramble egg with bacon. The average price is $9.5 per dish. The waitresses are truely lovely. Would come back again for breakfasts.

Pork schnitzel, fried to perfection. Light, tender, and crunchy. Served on a bed of fried potatoes with veg.

Nice breakfast spot. Totally a dive inside, but the breakfast was good and reasonably priced. The service was fast, friendly and attentive. Each element on the plate was spot on for what it was. The waffles were kinda crisp and tasty, the pancakes were perfect circles and really good, good eggs and tasty little sausages. The kids loved it too. If you want a solid, decent breakfast that isn't fluffed up with all sorts of bits and pieces, then this is the place for you. It's a diner done well, no wonder they get top votes in the area!

Nice tradicional cozy place. Sian did a good job with an impecable fast service. All our seafood, veggie and plain omelettes were very delicious and Sian understood our desire of not having carbo and replaced them by delicious salad. The chef salad was very well presented and generously delicious as well. Coffee was also a plus!!! It is a place to go back

Nice breakfast joint in North Vancouver. Came here with family and friends for brunch. Service was fine and the restaurant had a cool 80s vibe to it. Everyone was satisfied with their entrees. My wife thought her seafood omelette was lacking flavor, but the hollandaise sauce she requested made it tasty. My pancakes with eggs and bacon was good. Bottom line, is the Eighties Restaurant in North Vancouver is a good place to go for a meal and spend time with family and friends.

New owners are doing a good job - feels similar with some updates on the menu. If you're looking for a basic diner with hearty portions and friendly staff, this is your place.

My Reuben was very good, a good sized sandwich that I took half of home. The fries were nice and hot and plentiful, although salted, which I prefer to do myself. A light salting out of the fryer I get, but lightly please. K's chicken burger seemed a little light on the flavour side of the equation, and frankly needed a smaller plate so it would look like a bigger serving. She opted for the tater tots, instead of fries, which tasted good, of a little salty, and shy on portion. Our server was great, kept checking up on us, and was pleasantly attentive. We wanted to love it during our first visit, but the tea fiasco just overshadowed everything else. We are glad we returned, as this visit was far better than our first overall.

The portions are huge and every dish is made with quality ingredients. French onion grilled cheese with shoestring fries: I got a nice cheese pull out of this, it satisfied all my cheesy cravings. It came with a generous amount of fries. Denver-ish breakfast bowl: order this if you want a nice variety for breakfast. I added avocado and it was so satisfying. Bacon eggs benny on housemade buttermilk biscuits with hashbrowns: fresh hollandaise over perfectly cooked eggs. The buttermilk biscuit is so much better than an English muffin. I absolutely loved the shredded hashbrowns. Strawberry milkshake: you need to try their hand spun milkshakes! Topped with whipped cream and sprinkles, I felt like a kid again.

We arrived early yet the place was already full, vibrant energy throughout the cafe. The decor had lots of funky and antique items, which added to the relaxing theme. After browsing the items on the menu, my friend chose The Tater Bowl and I picked Mushroom N' Ricotta Benedict. Finally, when our orders arrived, we were ready to eat! The bowl was very hearty hott mess in a good way. Very filling, tasty with all the good bits of bacon, ham, sausage gravy all throughout. I had to take half home as it was a bit much for me. Wifeys Benny was decent, the hollandaise was more mayoee than regular hollandaise and there was a sweet drizzle on the eggs I personally was not a fan but I can see it's appeal to others. Serving size are very decent. Overall this location is good and we will visit again. Lovely servers, good food and atmosphere!

I had The Classic which came with Eggs, mushroom & broccolini, potato rosti, baked beans, roasted tomato and housemade sourdough. We also ordered a Nutelle Hot Chocolate and Matcha Oat Latte. I loved The Classic. While I do enjoy trying new things all the time, I think I'm a Classic girl at heart. I often fight the urge to order the tried and true for the sake of trying new things, but I'm ever so happy on those occasions where I give in and order something more Classic. Baked beans and toast remind me of family trips to England. Havn't gone for one of those in years, but I do have some good memories of them. When they're on sale here, we sometimes like to buy cans of Heinz British style baked beans, and I sometimes make my own homemade version of baked beans to store in our freezer. I don't often see baked beans on brunch menus so this was a bit of a special occasion for me to be able to order something with baked beans for brunch. Personally, I would have preferred the beans to have been just a little bit softer. Nothing wrong with them. They were fully cooked but perhaps just a little bit firmer than I'd have liked. I prefer my beans very soft and I tend to be like that with a lot of foods in general. My hubby prefers his foods firmer, and I like my foods softer. It's a personal preference. Otherwise, I very much enjoyed this dish and am very likely to order it again sometime! Oh, the potato rosti in my dish was awesome as well. This meal was so filling though that I only ate one small corner of the potato rosti and then took the rest home to eat as I was very full already from everything else I had eaten from the plate.

We must like it, we even bought their cookbook to try some of the recipes, especially the Fondumental, which dragged us back there again and again. It wasn't nearly as plentiful or as yummy as we remembered it, but it's still good. The sandwiches and soups have always been rib sticking and tasty. The ambiance has remained the same over the years, a little dark, but the fireplace and the vintage posters are cool. Our server Gary was excellent, Johnny on the spot with all that we were looking for. Their wine and beer is all local, which is a thing these days. My lobster bisque with the FAB salad hit the spot, and the bread piece was exceptional. The lovely K had the onion soup which she liked although said it could use a little more salt. Beef bourignon was suggested and I'm glad I took the friendly waitress' recommendation as it was a warm hug on a deep plate. We parked on a side street not too far away and noticed how friendly people were as we walked to the restaurant. Everyone said hello and smiled as we passed through. You certainly don't get that same experience in many other areas of the Lower Mainland. Because it was spur of the moment, we didn't have a reservation. We put our name down with the host and waited about 10-15 minutes for a table. The restaurant was a little noisy but not overwhelmingly so. We both had coffee, which was really good. I should've asked what kind of coffee they serve because it's not very often the regular drip coffee is this good. I was having a hard time deciding between the Blvd Blackstone Benny with maple bacon and the Smokey Brisket Benny. I ended up choosing the latter with a side of avocado and my friend had the Huevos Rancheros - he added a side of fried potatoes when he saw how good they looked on my plate. I took one bite of the brisket and I was instantly so glad I chose it. The meat was so tender and flavourful and I didn't even need my knife to cut it. It was phenomenal. My eggs were overcooked but immediately replaced with new eggs when I mentioned it to the server. The replacements were soft with perfectly runny yolks. She also brought extra hollandaise sauce. My friend's meal looked amazing, in fact I now have to come back just so I can have this dish. I wasn't able to finish my meal so I boxed it up to finish later. I will definitely come back here to try more of the menu items, especially when the coffee is this good. Makes me wish I lived closer!
