On a road trip from NY to Glacier Park and decided to eat here our first night. I had the escargot. Typical garlic butter sauce but added to that was artichoke along with Brie covering the top. Baked to perfection and served with buttered and toasted bread. My entree was the roast duckling and it was exceptional and done to perfection. . The side of vegetables were a treat in their own right. The service was first class. Our server was attentive, friendly and informative...about the food and the area. We will go back. YUM! In search of the best steak we were told by Jen at Crystal Winters and Pete from Philly that this was the place. Then I read the story of this golf course and knew we had to come as the course in my neighborhood in Boston was also built by the WPA and yet they only serve hot dogs and burgers. My husband and I had a great dinner here! The staff was personal, friendly and attentive. Doug made our reservation over the phone and even stopped by the table to introduce himself which was a very nice touch. Our server Linda offered a lot of very helpful information as to where to stay and what to do around the area. The menu had some very good looking options. I got the salmon over spinach with mashed potatoes and I just kept eating and eating it was so good!! Highly recommended. not good. we came on a Saturday night with four people. it took 2 1/2 hours and a bit more to have dinner with only two entrees. I had to go to the bar to get a glass of wine. when we got the bill we were charged for two bottles when we only had one. the one they charged us for they didn't have. when i pointed this out to our server Jean, she corrected the bill to only charge us for half the bottle we didn't receive. i am NOT making this up. so we waited another 10 minutes for her to sort out with her manager why we shouldnt be charged for half the bottle we didnt receive. we never heard from or saw the manager. the food was just ok. not great. for 4 people who split entrees after the bottle of unreceived wine was deducted was still $340. do NOT plan to eat here. there are plenty of good places in Whitefish to eat, but this is NOT one of them. IF you do decide to eat here try to avoid Jean. She is completely out of her depth as a waitress. I travel extensively and know what good service and food is - you will not find it here. read more

Whitefish Lake Restaurant is by far the best restaurant in the area. It has been a consistently great restaurant since we've lived here for 18 years. This is a long overdue review. The Staff has always been attentive and helpful in every way possible. As for the bartenders, they are knowledgeable and friendly ....check out the fantastic Key Lime Martini . Went for dinner with 3 others. Nice place with good food. Had the jerk crusted salmon, served with potato cakes and veggies. Dinner salad also included. For desert had the homemade vanilla ice cream. The peppermint ice cream was better. Service was great! read more

This is a very decent Steakhouse. Our waitress was VERY professional and, at the same time, friendly. She was busy, but very attentive, and even found the time to have a small talk with us. I did not care much for the decor and the dark linens, but it is about the FOOD and the food was very good! It took them some time to prepare the food, but it was well worth it! Well, that won't be the case with WFLGCR. I have to say that of all the Flathead restaurants, it has been the most consistent at being fantastic. My company treated us to the king crab night at this restaurant and it was such a wonderful experience for all of us. The ambiance of the restaurant is great. Our waitress was so sweet, and the crab was amazing. It was our first time trying out this occasion that they offer twice a year. All of the ladies had a great time mingling over wine and the wonderful king crab. What a treat! And i looked at their normal menu, it had a wide variety, and im sure everything on it is delicious. I had the Prime Rib and it was delicious. My husband had the New York Au Poivre. The steak was huge and the Madeira peppercorn cream sauce was fantastic. Horseradish potato cakes were great too. Lemon Drop martini was delicious. This was a snazzy place to grab a drink and relax at the bar. We didn't come for dinner, but I sure would like to sometime. We had a couple apps; the escargot is AMAZING, please get this. Split an apple and brie sandwich that was good. The restaurant is on a golf course, so it sits in a very peaceful setting. The service was incredibly nice and attentive. My only suggestion: when serving a cider that comes in a can, I'd prefer it served in a frosted glass rather than be handed the can and a glass. May sound nit-picky, but on the whole this is a fantastic place to dine at in Whitefish. read more

We have eaten here several times and the food is consistently good. I really want to give 4.1/2 stars. We ate here last week and most of the food was good. The trout appetiser was a litttle dry. All of the main courses were great. However, the Creme Brulee left a lot to be desired. It had the nice crunchy, crisp topping, but the custard part was way to thick. It should be softer and more creamy. So the trout and Brulee are the reason for 4.1/2. Waitress deserves 5 stars. She was excellent. We will definitely be back. read more

Wow! What a great place! My wife and I ate here for the first time tonight. The prime rib was some of the best I've had anywhere. My wife had the Halibut and she loved it. The meal was high quality in every respect. We started with the Jumbo Mushroom Caps and they were delicious. The main entrees were fantastic, and even the side dishes (mixed vegetables, house salad, and whipped potatoes) were incredibly tasty. I can't believe we've lived here so long without eating here until tonight. The ambience was great - very relaxed and quiet, even with a large crowd. I have eaten here twice and loved it both times. I have lived in the Flathead Valley for 3 years and tried quite a few places, but this is the best food I have ever had here. It is a little spendy, but worth it. I love the fireplace, lodge feel, and friendliness of the staff. It is especially fun to go around the holidays when there are Christmas lights in the huge trees outside and the fire warms you up. I also like how the food is high end, but you can dress very casual if you want to. I just can't say enough good things about this place. Love it! read more

The golf course is traditional montana in every respect. Warm, inviting and a great experience all around. The atmosphere is as good as you can get up here. Doug and Vicki are great and the food is old school and wonderful. Doug has clearly put a great deal of thought into the wine list and the Prime Rib is the best in town. I hate to write this review, because I've been there quite a few times over the years. (We go every summer). It used to be the place that I would recommend to people as being the best in the Valley. We went twice in the last month and I was disappointed both times. Last time I ordered the mussels in tomato broth, and they were completely tasteless, and the tomato broth tasted straight out of a can. The only good thing anybody had was the escargot. Very consistent, old fashioned, high quality food and service. This restaurant is a bit of a throwback to the days when fine dining rally meant something and not just some yuppie pursuit of great presentations or meals with ingredients most of us cannot pronounce. Don't misunderstand, their food stacks up against any of the over the viaduct or Central Avenue impress-you eateries, they just don't need to flaunt it. If you go in the wintertime, request a table by the fire and dazzle your date. Great selection of Scotches too!
