We had lunch at the Craggy Range Bar and Grill and could not have been more pleased. Typical mountain town rustic decor which was to be expected on the main drag in Whitefish. The star here was the food. We ordered the tacos and fish and chips. The tacos are double walled - crunchy shell inside wrapped in a wheat tortilla. We chose the blackened cod and braised pulled pork. Both were generously portioned and quite flavorful. We also ordered the fish and chips and this was the real surprise. Crunchy seasoned batter and large pieces of cod. No kidding - we had to go 500 miles from Puget Sound to get the best fish and chips this side of Little Chinooks at Fisherman's Terminal! Need to say that the drinks we ample and balanced. We ordered the Huckleberry Mojito and the Bloody and could not have been more pleased! We went into Craggy Range expecting standard pub grub fare and were more than pleased with the results. Want to say the service - our server and the bartender did a great job! What an experience!?! We've waited over an hour and a half for our food. Our first order never went in and apparently our second order didn't. Our app of pretzels was half asked. A fun sports bar located on the cute streets of Whitefish! The old fashioneds were very good & love when it's served in a different way as shown in the photo. Our waitress was lovely, and the food was good. My favorite was the steak bites with blue cheese salad -- the blue cheese they use is great & creamy so it's not as strong as harder crumbles. Unacceptable behavior! I sit down, have to ask for a drink. The guys next to me get menus, drinks, whatever they want. I asked for a water twice. Nope. The waitress threw my wine in the trash and made a fit. Flipped me off. Caught it all on camera. You are welcome. If the bar was closed, why were other people allowed service and I wasn't? Also, if it's the busiest weekend of the year then you should have had more staff working. I heard from many people around town that they have also had bad service at your restaurant. read more

There is street parking all around the downtown and the question is which bar to grab food from. We choose Craggy for lunch. We were able to get a table right away and decided to sit inside. There is a big outdoor space with live music at night. Our waitress was attentive with checking in and refilling drinks. We got the Brussel sprouts for an appetizer and the Brussel sprouts could have been cooked a little more and had a bit more of the sauce used. The burger was a good size but a little too much bacon for me. I appreciated that they had a gluten free bun. The honey chipotle dressing was a little light on flavor. Ugh!!! I really wanted to rate this place higher, I really did. But when you compare it to everything else in town it just doesn't quite measure up. It's not that it's bad, it's just that there are so many shortcuts taken that maybe shouldn't be. We loved the ice rail on the bar that was super cool. But in the name of all that is holy, why does my salad have lunch meat chicken on it? I mean honestly it would be so easy to just grill chicken for a salad. I'm going to assign separate ratings for the different things we got because some deserve more stars and some less. The service was definitely 5 star. Our server Rikki was super nice, helpful and responsive. We started with a glass of wine which was fine but nothing special and a beer for my husband. That was fine too. The one he was most interested was out. Next was the pretzel that was another 5. We love a good pretzel and this one was perfect. Hot, fluffy with great sauce. Then we had the pulled pork sandwich. Today I met a friend for lunch at Craggy so we could watch Olympic opening ceremony. Tje staff went above and beyond to get it on a TV near our table. After a delicious baja taco I noticed all the TVs in the restaurant were tuned to the Olympic opening to the entertainment of a full house of patrons. Thank you Craggy! read more

Waitress was nice, but I'd never recommend eating here. I ordered wings that were supposed to be Bone-In and they brought me processed chicken nuggets with dry buffalo sauce on them. They did take them off our bill, but the explanation baffled me. They said the kitchen must have run out so substituted the regular wings with chicken pieces. That is something that should have been communicated so I could have changed my order. Beer was good and cold. Burgers were passable but not great. read more

This weekend (Sept 14-16) is the 3rd annual Whitefish Songwriter Festival. Hit songwriters from Nashville and local stars are performing in theaters, restaurants, coffee shops and bars of downtown Whitefish. That explains why I've seen so many people around town with guitar cases and maybe why some of these venues are packed with so many people. We saw the line of people waiting for a table at Craggy Range and thought maybe we'd have a long wait. We were seated right away. I then proceeded to have my most enjoyable meal all weekend. Craggy Range is a sports bar so the menu is what you'd expect. We split an order of Brussels sprouts and I selected the Bison patty melt. My companion picked the Bison chili. The Brussels sprouts were topped with lots of crispy bacon and cheese and were nicely roasted. My Bison patty melt was topped with creamy cheese and carmelized onion jam and served on sourdough that was perfectly toasted. The tater tots were warm and crisp and lightly salted. My only complaint about my meal was that I couldn't finish it. Really, I had a good time and I was happy with my meal. My companion finished every bit of their bison chili too. read more

Came here after checking out the town, we were sat outside immediately! super awesome place. Michelle Rivers and Hannah King were performing beautiful bluegrass and we just loved it. We were drawn to the restaurant because of the music playing lol. I got the Huckleberry Mojito and my husband got A local IPA but I forgot the name lol. Get the mojito. Review for The Craggy Ranch - Whitefish, Montana My husband and I had one of the most touching dining experiences we've ever had at The Craggy Ranch in Whitefish MT. We had just come from visiting my father, who is quite ill and recovering from knee surgery in a nursing home. Shortly after we sat down for dinner, my father called with an emergency, and it was clear to the staff that I was distraught. Our wonderful waitress, Ashley, noticed right away and quietly went to speak with her manager, Kate. Moments later, Kate came over and told us that the restaurant would be complementing our entire dinner out of kindness for what we were going through. I was truly moved by their compassion. Both Ashley and Kate went out of their way to show empathy and care at a time when it meant so much. Not only was the food absolutely delicious, but the warmth and humanity of the staff made this an unforgettable experience. My husband and I will absolutely be returning -- not just for the great meal, but for the incredible people who make this place so special. Over several trips to Montana, we've found that the people here are some of the kindest you'll ever meet. Amazing food and great service! My husband had the bison burger and loved it, while I had the shredded chicken tacos -- the mango sauce made them absolutely burst with flavor. We also tried the sauce flight, which was totally worth the $4. The atmosphere feels like a standard restaurant, but our waiter Matthew really made the experience memorable with his friendly and attentive service. Although ambiance was great, the server wasn't around much and had too many tables. The kids Mac and cheese was cold, the fries were rock hard (even when we asked for a new batch) and several of our orders were wrong. Gave specifics to accommodate some in our group and the hostess agreed and then showed she has no awareness or idea of what was going on- down to letting those waiting before us wait for 15 mins when their table was ready to be seated at and communicated to her. Hamburger wasn't much better than what you can find at McDonalds at a fraction of the price. Great service and the menu has a variety of options. Great place to watch a game or meet up with friends for a drink. 4/5 stars simply because the burger was VERY dry. In town visiting and always excited to try new things. I waited until the next day to make sure my thoughts were insightful. Heard of the Craggy Range and thought it would be nice to try for a late lunch and although not that busy it appears they might have been understaffed. The service was terrible, the waitress was nice, she was just bad at her job. Our group was pleased with the food as the Bison Chili is a must try. Our food experience here was mixed. On one hand, their Cajun Alfredo pasta was fantastic. The dish features grilled chicken and spicy andouille sausage bathed in a rich creamy white sauce. Delicious! On the other hand, the fries that came with our burger were super old and dry - possibly because we arrived towards the end of the evening. Regardless, the fries were inedible and should never have been served. The reason I'm still giving four stars here is because the service was wonderful. Cobb salad with lunchmeat was a big disappointment. My friend ordered a wedge with chicken and it was actual diced chicken as it should be. Soup was not hot.
