A MUST!!! Happened upon Herb & Omni and had fabulous drinks and an outstanding dinner. Bennett the bartender was happy to explain everything. We started with a clearly number 1 cocktail served in a beehive glass--cool looking and a perfectly balanced/composed cocktail . We also had the seasonal shrub which was watermelon jalepeno and again delicious--not overly sweet with a nice kick. I did get to choose the heat level, and it didn't disappoint. For food , we started with chickpea fritters with a tamarind chutney. The presentation and taste were flavorful and creative. For our main, we both had the tempura golden enoki. I don't often eat vegetarian dishes out but glad not to miss this outstanding creation with a sticky rice waffle base, baby bok choi, black garlic XO tempura enoki and a green curry sauce . Certainly the best meal I have had this year and quite surprised to find it in Whitefish MT. Props to the chef !!! read more

Let me start off by saying this place looks and feels lush, it is beautiful and the yelpers who mentioned to go to the ladies bathroom (yeah you should looool) I'm going to jump right into the food. We started off with the Alaskan Halibut Corndog, its more of a cooked more inside, and I kid you not I wish I ordered another of these it was so good! We also had the  Bunuelo which is shaped to mimic a pretzel that was filled with a glorious goat cheese mousse and kraut powder and a little jalapeno relish I have never in my life tasted anything like it, it was sensational. If you see this on the menu immediately order it. Next up was the Dungeness Crab Cake there is something to be said about a beautiful rendition of this dish with its flaky generous portions of crab, thoroughly enjoyed. The Grilled Korean Short Rib was an absolute favorite of mine as well, there is no way you cold get enough of it. For the mains we had the Pan Seared Duck Breast 4/5 came with the most beautiful cherry mole and corn succotash that was just exception, the balance on this speaks to the chefs talent. Now the issue here was actually the duck, one side of the breast just seemed very over and chewy while the other was perfect which is a shame but I am glad to have tried it. My kid thoroughly enjoyed Lamb Ragu with gnocchi and I honestly couldn't agree more and how well made the gnocchi was, pillow soft and utterly flavorful. But the real star of the night was Wagyu with tallow fried tater tot, chimichurri and brown butter carrots I would say though this dish commands a price, it was absolutely worth it, done exactly as ordered and every bite of each component was heavenly. For dessert we had the Cornbread dessert with miso caramel and burnt honey ice cream and it blew my mind, I am not a honey person but there's also a sense of trust you gain while eating that the kitchen knows best so dive in head first and it didn't disappoint we also had the Evening in Missoula Panna Cotta with rhubarb, orange blossom meringue and coconut boba the burst of flavors I kept getting and the delightful panna cotta was superb. Both the desserts were comped by the restaurant since even though we had a reservation we waited far too long of a time, it was close to 45min before we were seated because the previous customer had paid but were holding the table up. To me that's not something I can shrug off, I understand that they were full but 20min max I can excuse more than double is a hard swallow regardless of how great are host eventually was (Hi Dennis, you were awesome thank you!) and I appreciate the free deserts but overbooking might have been your issue here. read more

The food here was genuinely incredible. Easily one of the top 5 meals I've ever had. Every dish was packed with flavor and executed at an extremely high level. If I were judging strictly on the food, this place would be hard to beat. That said, the overall experience felt a little off. The atmosphere didn't quite match the quality of the meal. The music playlist felt strange for the setting, the restaurant was very empty, and the space was so open and quiet that it felt like we had to whisper at our table the entire night. The service was okay, but it did feel at times like the staff was slightly annoyed by us being there, which took away from the experience a bit. Once we started dinner we first had the foie gras - a chef special and it did not disappoint - It was so fatty like butter. The caviar service was also wonderful. We loved this spot!!! We chose to spend the last night of our honeymoon here and it was absolutely the correct choice. For appetizers we got the tomato salad and the Korean short ribs (both wonderful, if I had to choose- the Korean short ribs were definitely the favorite!) We then both got the wagyu New York steak which was incredible!! We both agreed it was one of the best New York steaks we've had. The whole experience from taking my coat at the door and personalized birthday card at my seat, to the surprise cookies and "'milk" at the end of the meal was spectacular! Oh my gosh - this place blew me away! This is potentially the most unique and delicious meal I've ever had in all of Flathead Valley. First the ambiance is upscale, sexy, and has a feeling of understated opulence. You could put this restaurant in any major city and it would compete with the best of the best. However, the low key energy and comfortable service ensures you don't feel out of place in your typical Montana attire, but you certainly dress up for an elegant evening out if you wanted. Next, as someone who prefers to eat vegetarian, the menu was so delightful, with so many options I could eat, I felt like a kid in a candy store. But, the best part, the food was outstanding!!! We started with the hazelnut pate and the chickpea fritters. Holy cow - they were amazing!!! The flavor combinations were unique and special. We then shared the crab cake, which was cooked perfectly and had a topping of shaved greens that were bright and paired perfectly with the crab. For mains, I ended up having the squash soup and he had the scallops. Again, I was blown away by the favor and quality of the food. Here are my takeaways. 1. Will we bring all our houseguests here? Yes, absolutely. The fact that vegetarians and carnivores can happily enjoy a meal together is special. 2. Will we do all special occasions here? Yes. 3. Will we find an excuse to come here again and again? Yes, as long as the theme continues to include the unique and special vegetarian options. While visiting Whitefish, we had dinner at Herb and Omni. To the ownership, management, chefs and staff, bravo zulu! We've been coming to Whitefish on a regular basis for over a decade, and there are a nubber of good places to dine, and Herb and Omni is a great addition to the dining scene. We started with coctails and the bread service. It comes with Jimmy Red cornbread, sourdough, French baguette, and butter/ olive oil dip. It was very enjoyable. I ordered the butter seared scallops with potato dumplings, sundried tomatoes, arugula pesto, and crispy artichokes. It was the best scallop dish that I have had at any restaurant. Jan ordered the 3-bone rack of lamb served with a peppercorrn veal demi-glaze, and a side of asparagus with spanish anchovies, and horseradish whipped cream with lemon zest. It was excellent. The lamb was excelkent. We finished by sharing a creme burlee and coffee. The coffee was served from a press pot with a three-stahe minute glass to determine the strength of brew. We've visited Whitefish many times and always look forward to the food and hospitality, but our experience at Herb and Omni was truly disappointing. We had a dinner reservation and were the first table in the restaurant that evening, arriving early and excited for a special night out. Within two minutes of walking in, we overheard our server, Brandon, speaking negatively about our group. It was incredibly unprofessional and immediately set a bad tone. Things went from bad to worse when one of our drinks had shards of glass in it from a broken cup. When we brought it to Brandon's attention, he didn't apologize or show any concern -- instead, he blamed us, saying we must have "cheers'd too hard." Not only was that response dismissive, but it was also unsafe and completely unacceptable. Throughout the evening, Brandon's attitude was cold, condescending, and made our entire group feel unwelcome -- all while we spent over $1,300 on dinner. Whitefish is a beautiful town, and while the dining options are somewhat limited, we expected better from a restaurant that presents itself as upscale. Based on this experience, we won't be returning to Herb and Omni, and we'd recommend others think twice before booking a dinner here. read more
