In town visiting family so this was our choice for last nights supper. First of all, the staff was very accommodating and welcoming. Bobby was our server and he did a great job explaining the new items on their expanded menu and was looking to make sure we were taken care of. As an appetizer we ordered the sausage platter (Vennison, Elk & Rabbit/Rattlesnake blend and all of us were extremely pleased with amount and the flavor. I personally had the Elk Tenderloin which was prepared perfectly with great flavor. The rest of the group were very pleased with their meals, including a very rich Chocolate Torte. Food and drinks were fine. Some of our food, like the fries, came out cold. The interior was chic and the service was good! We did have to wait a very long time to get in but you would have to wait anywhere. Finally got the opportunity to drop into Latitude 48... We've been coming to a Whitefish for years, but have always eaten at other restaurants in town - Our stop into Latitude 48 was worth it. The restaurant is nicely decorated with the classic "Montana mountain-cool" vibes. Our server (Danny, who has worked there for 20 years) was excellent, friendly, and on-top of it all night long. The food was definitely in the upper echelon of cuisine in Whitefish... Not quite as good as The Last Chair or Tupelo (our two favorite restaurants in town), but Latitude 48 definitely holds its own as the menu is small/specialized, unique, well-thought out and superior food quality. The only drawback is our main courses took over an hour after our appetizers and salads arrived... Our reservation was for 7:30, and we didn't leave until 10:00 (the kitchen was apparently very backed up). I have been a loyal customer of Latitude 48 in Whitefish for over a decade, but after my recent experience, I will never return. What happened to my family and me was beyond unacceptable. We ordered several dishes, including a dozen oysters. When they arrived, they smelled off, but we initially ignored it. After eating three, we encountered one that was undeniably rancid. We politely returned the oysters, expecting a simple resolution. Instead, the chef personally came to our table and, rather than addressing the issue professionally, immediately became defensive. His response? To insult us by implying we didn't know what we were talking about, saying: "I don't know where you're from, but if you've never had oysters before, you may not know what you're talking about." At this point, my husband challenged him to try them himself, stating they would make him sick. Instead of handling the situation with professionalism, the chef escalated--yelling at us in front of a full restaurant before throwing us out. And not just us--he forced my family, including our seven-year-old son, to leave in the most humiliating way possible. Not only was this an outrageous overreaction, but it was also completely uncalled for. A simple acknowledgment of the bad oyster would have sufficed. Instead, we were treated with outright hostility and embarrassment. To add insult to injury, we weren't even allowed to pay our bill--as if we had done something wrong! As longtime locals from Eureka who regularly dine in Whitefish, I have never experienced such unprofessional, condescending, and aggressive treatment at any establishment. The chef's behavior was beyond inappropriate--it was outright unacceptable. To anyone considering Latitude 48--think twice. There are many incredible restaurants in Whitefish that treat their customers with respect. This is not one of them. read more

This place was not inexpensive but really very good! Nice art on the walls & attentive servers complemented great food. Fresh salads & some unusual local game choices on the menu were fun. I don't usually post reviews, but I felt compelled to after my recent visit to Latitude 48. The overall experience just didn't quite hit the mark--mostly due to the service. To start with the positives: the restaurant itself has a decent vibe, though it was a bit on the loud side. Most of the food we ordered was actually delicious--especially a few standout dishes. However, the lamb lollipops missed the mark for us in terms of flavor and texture. The biggest issue, though, was the service. Our waitress, Amanda, was in the middle of training a new team member who was transitioning from the bar to the dining area. Unfortunately, we just didn't click with her. There were several moments that felt off--rude comments, smirks, and an overall air of insincerity that made us uncomfortable. Even slight name-calling was thrown in, which felt unprofessional. On top of that, we weren't offered drink refills and overall just experienced strange, somewhat cold energy throughout the meal. My husband and I enjoyed a great meal here with excellent service. It's a cool spot with fresh and local foods - it was buzzing the night we stopped in after a long day of hiking. We went with the shishito pepper as our entree because it sounded new and interesting - but it was bland and disappointing for a high price point - I wouldn't recommend. Was basically one large green shishito pepper with some cheese and rice stuffed in it. The cheese was not good quality and the rice tasted dry and overdone. My husband ordered a pizza while I ordered the gnocchi. His pizza was very good and he enjoyed it while my gnocchi was stellar - probably the best I've ever had. The two ladies on either side of me had ordered it and I was drooling over their dishes filled with seared kale (a ton), fresh sweet potatoes and veggies tossed in oil and salt and cheese. The gnocchi itself was absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend. Bathrooms are beautiful and spotless and contemporary - very nice for a bar. They have a downstairs red lounge that looks very nice. Had a celebration dinner here for 5 people on Saturday, June 28. The service was terrible. One drink came. Then 10 minutes later two more drinks came. We were still missing one drink (one didnt drink). We waited 1-1/2 hours total for the entrees to come out. The two halibut entrees came out and 10-15 minutes later after they had almost finished theirs, the next three came out. They were lukewarm at best. Flavorful, but cold. We asked for the manager and she finally surfaced. Apologized but did not make any suggestion for a comped dessert, drinks, etc. We are locals and will surely not go back. Really delicious food and cocktails. The menu is pretty diverse so make sure to show up with an appetite so that you can try multiple items. We had the elk meatballs with pasta and pink sauce, the Korean fried cauliflower and a pate dish that I believe was on their seasonal menu. Everything was delicious. The pink sauce was rich without being too heavy and it was a filling portion for 2 of us. I also enjoyed their diverse cocktail menu starting off with the Jalapeno Business, which had the perfect amount of heat before moving on to their refreshing Bramble Orange Sour. My boyfriend enjoyed some of their local beers they had on draft. Service was attentive and we were seated far way from other tables. We were lucky to arrive early enough to get a table when we walked in. Had we been later I think we would have needed a reservation. This was a couple months ago so not sure if they are still adhering to the strict mask and social distancing policies but at the time they were and I was able to enjoy my meal very comfortably! read more

We visited this place while on a trip to Glacier national park. The rib eye steak I had was cooked to perfection a medium rare. The caprese appetizer had a nice glaze. My wife had the elk which was also great. The restaurant is in whitefish although a bit on the pricier side the food was great and the drinks were solid. I REALLY wanted to give this place 5 stars. It's the nicest restaurant in the area *by far*, but they dropped the ball on helping us celebrate a special occasion. My boyfriend proposed to me earlier in the day and our friends (who are local) made a reservation for the two of us to celebrate a couple hours thereafter for dinner. The food (ahi tuna, Elk Marquez, veruda flatbread) was delicious and I was so glad they had cheesecake available for dessert. The reason for the 3 stars: Our server, who knew that we had just gotten engaged, congratulated us, but did not go out of her way to offer a champagne, flute, a complementary dessert, or anything remotely out of the ordinary. It wasn't until a couple days later when I talked to my fiancé about it that I realized just how odd it was for a restaurant to not use the occasion as an opportunity to out-do themselves. We are generous tippers and always tip on top of the full price of anything that we receive on the house. I've been at other nice restaurants to celebrate anniversaries or other special occasions and those types of accommodations are nearly almost provided without asking. We love Montana! And in the past, we've enjoyed wonderful meals here. This year we were woefully disappointed. Maybe there's new management, but the menu has fewer options for gluten-free vegans. We went with the option our server recommended and one taste it was obvious butter was used to sauté the veggies. We had a wonderful dinner here! Our server was very friendly and attentive. We had 3 of the shared (small) plates: the tuna tower, burrata with stone fruit and the smoked elk tartar. The tuna was very fresh, the avocado perfectly ripe and the two aiolis either it matched perfectly. The burrata was really tasty with the grilled peaches and fresh cherries and arugula. The elk tartar was thinly sliced and came in its own plate with smoke under the clear domed cover. For dessert, we had a huckleberry crème brûlée that was tasty and the custard not too sweet. We asked for an "eau de vie" for an after drink but told the server it was esoteric so we were ok with a vognac, which we ended up having. All in all, a terrific experience in a town that is loaded with great restaurants. I highly recommend it!! read more

I know it's tough to find staff these days but man was the service terrible here on a very slow night (meaning it was not busy and the service was still Super slow). The cocktails were nothing special and they barely filled my glass 3/4 of the way which made me feel a bit ripped off. The ahi tuna appetizer came with 5 teeny tiny Taro chips that were the size of a nickel...when we asked for more they brought us exactly 5 more teeny tiny Taro chips. The pork ban mi buns were tasty but the ratio of bun to meat was way off - they need to add additional pork to the buns to make it more balanced and filling. The gnocchi was the only dish I was happy with as it was not basic like the others. The worst part of the meal was that no one asked us how our drinks were and no one checked on us to see how we liked our food. I found this restaurant to be very overpriced and forgettable. I won't be returning. After amazing meals at The Last Chair and Witch Haus this weekend I was starting to think Whitefish was a foodie's heaven but Latitude 48 changed my mind about that... We had reservation in main dining room for 6:45 but they were running behind. They said stay in Red Room till we get you. How nice was that? Worked out great. Bartender also made good mocktail for a friend with us not drinking alcohol. Great service. Onto dinner for six. Food was good. Pizzas were great. Bread, mussels, carrot small plates, nice. I liked. For mains we had a pasta with elk meatballs, Thai noodles with shrimp. Albacore special.All decent. We had a server who sort of sang-talked. Unusual and nice. But truth from me. Pizzas were amazing. Two solid experiences. Though, our second was a bit rushed and the dessert was a bit of a disaster, so wish that didn't happen. Otherwise, the food and drinks are winners! Some highlights: the velour cocktail. Just get it. And then for food: the elk meatballs, korean fried cauliflower, beyond beef eggplant parm, and the korean pork buns allllllll stood out. Very good food and perfect for sharing so get a taste of everything. Now, these desserts. Honestly, the butterscotch meringue pie was a nightmare. It was legitimately a brown sugar pie where you could taste the graininess of sugar throughout. One bite and I felt like I should make an immediate appointment with my dentist as the pie was basically a giant pile of sugar. OH MY GOD, please take this off your menu until you figure out what hell is happening. A meringue style pie should have a velvety center, this was a concrete sugar shock that needs to sit the hell down. Then the pumpkin crisp needed some sort of creamy vanilla ice cream addition, and not really sure what the hell the carrot cake rolled with raspberry cream was all about. Let's take a breather and work on your dessert game. And yes, if you are going to close your kitchen and really don't want patrons in at a certain time, then just tell us. Having to be rushed going through the meal is less than desirable for everyone involved. And having to see the server sit on the side while we finished our cocktails honestly made us feel uncomfortable, but also wasn't something we wanted to pound to get out the door. Oh, and by the way, don't tell us that the steak tips sitting on top of a waffle is gluten free... I mean, the waffle clearly isn't, so let's make sure that you know the 411 on your own menu. But still, your food and drinks are delicious, so they're carrying this review up a grade. read more

Swanky place while you're waiting for a table or if you feel you're not dressed for upstairs. Food, drinks everything is the same just different spot. I really love the cocktail menu here. Unique cocktails set to please all types of palates. Spanked Rosemary, liqueurs you've never heard of, housemade infused liquors, muddled herbs and spices. It's so yummy and interesting. I personally like the Thai me up. I also liked the other drinks my friends ordered. The tapas are great to share. We ordered parmesan fries, corn dog fritters, mussels, chefs crudo, broccoli, the bread to soak up the mussels, and something else I can't think of! A night to remember. It was awesome.
