My son's senior pictures were great! Northridge academy students were set to take their photos at white studios, i remember when I graduated back in 99 we took it with them as well. Very unprofessional and would recommend another studio or perhaps a private photographer. We were sent a postcard from White's Studio saying that our pictures were ready and could ONLY be picked up on Wednesdays from 10-5 or Saturdays from 10-1. We made the half hour drive in the rain only to be told that they were on lunch and to wait for them to get back. If they are going to close the entire studio for lunch the business should have the courtesy to provide that information. Never again will I buy from this studio. read more

I know they've been in business for a long time but their prices/packages are a rip off. They are selling packages that cost so much money but allowing 2 poses to use. Why? If the package includes so many size photos, why do I have to be limited to 2 poses? Oh because they want to maximize their profits and make money on other poses. This place deserves much better ratings then what they have. I came here for my senior photos in 2011 and had a great experience. I decided to come back a month ago for my college photos and almost didn't just because of all the bad reviews. I'm really happy I went here because I had a great experience! I made my appointment and asked all the questions over the phone. Got there and waited for maybe 10 mins before being taken back. My photographer was Samantha who made me feel very comfortable and had great advice on how to pose and what not. I saw some reviews complaining that they didn't get to see the photos that day, but there's signs about that all over the lobby and they also tell you that over the phone so I don't know why they're complaining. Anyways, the place was very professional and the front desk receptionist along with the photographer were great in customer service A week later I got an email with the samples, chose which one I wanted and just picked them up this week and they look great! Rip-off. Too expensive. IF you think you booked an appointment paying $62 or $45 you would receive the pictures, you are mistaken, that amount is for the session only meaning for the camera girl to just take you the pictues and when you go to receive the photo, you will have to pay $150 at least. Pamphlet sent to you does now show hidden costs. No editing, no filtering, just regular photos that you can take even better with your cell phone with no experience. I had to take my daughter to another photographer on the day of granulation. For my other daughter I asked for just a yearbook photo but guess what? They refuse to show you what they took on their camera and they choose what they want to publush in the yearbook and you have no saying in this. I went on yelp and read all the reviews and honestly I was a little bit skeptical because a lot of the reviews were bad. It could be that they changed after people wrote bad reviews about them. But honestly to tell you the truth I had no problems with them at all the photographer was amazing and the pictures came out very nice. So if you do read the reviews I would still give them a chance. A complete waste of money for a high school portrait. DONT get the second picture. First off, the woman taking my money was abrupt and unfriendly. I get that you have a zillion kids, but your gig is to greet us and make us feel comfortable, and I am spending money here, so smile or go work at Chipotle. Second, my kid had a second outfit with a dress that had puffy sleeves. The dingbat taking her picture took the photo with the graduation gown on ON TOP of the dress. So now she looks like a halfback with a nice smile. All the photos are really bad, to be honest. A good photographer should be able to make your kid feel comfortable. This place has 22 year olds taking photo after photo, it's like an assembly line and they really don't give a rat's a** about making someone feel good who maybe isn't totally comfortable. They 100% take advantage of families and parents. $44 to remove acne from a ONE Sheet you just paid $60 for? I can remove acne in 30 seconds using a free app. And you read that correct...$60 for ONE PHOTO Plus up to $150 just to edit that One $60 photo. I wish the schools would choose a different place to do business. Oh and it take 6 weeks to get your photo and you have to pay for shipping. You should be ashamed of yourselves. My eldest son took his high school yearbook and senior pictures. They came out amazing, The photographer knows what he/she is doing. I went in to the studio to just simply ask questions. And they answered every question I had and were so sweet, kind and friendly I would recommend this studio to anybody that wants great looking pictures. Now this year my 2nd son took his High school yearbook and senior pictures. Also took his Football pictures. They all came out super good .I absolutely love the quality of them. Just received my daughter's graduation photos. Mediocre work at very high price. I would pay $25 for the photo if it was well done. But even as a hobbyist photographer I can see they didn't think about minimal setup to work with harsh direct light. Just flash straight in a face. No background blurring. I thought monopoly is illegal in the U.S.? I believe there should be an investigation into this company and higher ups in the LAUSD school system. They are taking advantage of the love from parents for their children, a once in a lifetime special occasion, and the fact that the students have to use their service in order to be in the school's yearbook to charge an arm and a leg for their service. The service at the front desk was very good, and the photographer was pleasant. He kept telling me how much we would LOVE the photos, I got the proofs and I do not LOVE them at all, many my son's eyes were barely open in the proof, so perhaps there were better options? I guess not because I was told they pick the best of what was taken. I paid for an extra "pose" for my son and there was a higher session fee, that makes sense. In EVERY photo my hair was obviously out of place, and the photographer NEVER mentioned it. None of the photos of my son and I together were good, and not a retouch issue, but a an area where my hair was completely out of place due to the way he had me tucked up against my son. "You're going to love these, that one was fantastic", he spouted complete nonsense the entire time we were doing the sitting fee together. And, the add on fees are extra expensive, don't pay for an extra sitting fee, it is unlikely to be worth it. it is too bad because the parent/child sittings on the website are quite good, I guess they just don't care at White's anymore, it is a money mill for student photos. Get a friend or family member and some good outdoor shade and you'll get something better on your cell phone. read more

It's the season for Senior pictures. My son's high school uses this studio as the designated place for senior yearbook photos. We received a notice for appointed month to take senior photos, so I had my son make the appointment. He easily made the appointment online and selected the package we wanted. He received a reminder email. The day of the appointment we showed up, all dressed up and ready for photos. We checked in, waited for 5-10 minutes and he was called back. I was a little bummed but parents are not allowed in the room while they are taking photos. I understand other people could be distractions, which could lengthen the appointment and so on. He was in the studio for 15 minutes or so and done! A few weeks later I received the proofs. Now let me disclose I know photography and tend to steer away from indoor photography and studios so I was a little nervous about how these would look. When I opened the proofs, I was impressed. My son looked so handsome, the poses were all really nicely done, nothing super creative but the composition was well done. Lighting was on-point. There were three sheets of proofs with I believe 8 poses each. It was really difficult selecting only three (which was the print package I selected). You do not have to order prints, the fee for the session includes the yearbook photo. The proofs are not edited for blemishes, but the prints are. The package I ordered was pricey and not excited about not being able to print larger resolution digital but I understand the business model. Some of the packages do come with social media downloads. They do ensure the downloadable images are low resolution targeted for web, they also include a social media release. This is not some cheap mall studio, so the price not surprising. If you understand the business model you shouldn't be surprised. It would be nice if the prints could be mailed just like the proofs were, but I understand there is a risk with that. read more

I went to Whites Studio on Reseda Blvd for my other son's senior pictures. I dealt with Cindy at the front desk. I had dealt with her at the North Hollywood location a few months ago and now again here at the Reseda location and both times she was super nice, professional and helpful. She was able to get my son in so quickly for his appointment. Sometimes in can take time when there is a lot of people waiting but we got right in. We had Nicole as a photographer and she did a beautiful job with my son's portraits. She was so friendly and professional and made it a very comfortable and easy experience. The place is super clean and well organized. Everyone I have dealt with at Whites Studios have been top notch and very helpful. I highly recommend them. read more

I will admit. We were not the easiest to deal with. it was a hectic time, my son had been in an accident - all kinds of stuff going on. These guys were so nice. They could have easily just said no to my ongoing requests but they didn't They went over the call of duty to accommodate us. The photographer was good but not personable. Which is fine. The girls at the desk were amazing. The pictures are good - pretty much what I expected. You can count on quality pretty much everytime. The customer service however is incredible. My sons senior pictures are taken by Whites, the photographer who was helping was very nice to my son and the attendant who helped us was very nice. He explained the process and the prices. My son wanted to take a picture with his jersey, if the attendant wanted too he could have charged us the special which was more due to 3 sitting poses. I have been an unwilling customer on several occasions now through GHCHS. This place has the WORST customer service. They are incredibly expensive, and the senior pictures I paid several hundred dollars for took almost 4 months to be ready for pick up!! 4 months!? You unacceptable. And, with their senior portrait packages NONE of them come with an option to have the a high resolution digital copy. You get a crappy one for social media, which, by the way, I am still waiting for. We just had our photo session this past weekend. The girls at the fro t desk were very nice and helpful . The photographer ruined our moment. My son and I came in excited that he was going to be taking his senior pictures. Once we got into the photo room I was trying to make my son smile because he looked so serious. The photographer turned around and said "if you continue to distract him you will have to leave the room". She was very serious and seemed in a rush. Sat him down took one picture after the other and finished her job. In no way was there any interaction with my son to try actually try and get him to smile . We have had family photo shoots in the past and typically the photographers are very engaging and kind and help you feel good and smile during your session. This is nothing like that. You walk into the room you take a bunch of pictures very quickly and you walk right back out. The energy after her comment shifted into something very negative. You would think the lady at the front desk (with blonde hair) would be a little more understanding on how parents are excited instead you get cold personality and just plain rude. I thought maybe I'm exaggerating but then I see a parent come in to order some pics and she was even more short and rude to her. My daughter's school uses this garbage studio for school pictures. They take an insane amount of time to return completely overpriced photos. They have retake day scheduled prior to even receiving the photos, so you can't see them to know if you wasted your money (trust me, you did). But to top it off, they bully the kids into taking photos they know they aren't going to like. They made my daughter keep her glasses that she uses to read the board at a distance on in her photos. She was told she had to. Like wtf? Who the hell is this photographer that gets to determine what my kids yearbook photo looks like and why did I preorder this? They apparently have a monopoly on school photos out here in the valley. Their senior portrait policy is pure garbage also and I'm not looking forward to dealing with them in a few years. Overpriced, outdated photography styles, and absolute trash customer service. I mean digital photography has been commonplace for at least 15 years. I may sound extreme but here me out, cause you will feel the same way if you skip this. My daughter's school uses this disgusting studio for her senior photo. First of all, we paid money that we thought was for the photos, but no, the money was for TAKING the picture. But okay, I'll take that L, but what happens next really pisses me off. We went on the website to select yearbook photos but the brainless trisomy 21 hamster with Tourette's Syndrome that created the purchasing system won't allow you to choose your yearbook photo without buying anything. It's not every day that your daughter goes to white's studio to do senior portraits, only once in a lifetime or till she takes her own daughter like I did. Well we showed up to our appointment and what I thought it was going to be a nostalgic memories turned up to be in disappointment. The moment you walk in you talk to a receptionist that is not pleasant to talk to, she is rude and sarcastic I don't know how the manager don't notice this behavior. She totally changed my mind of me wanting to leave and go somewhere else but my daughter insisted of us staying there. In this uncertain time on how business are closing down customer service should be extraordinary before sales goes down and business has to close and she won't have a job so we have to be thankful for having a job. Took my daughter here on July 19th for her senior picture. They charge a 42.00 sitting fee, and this only includes her picture in the yearbook. I received the proofs in the mail yesterday. The pictures are nice, but packages are like 200-500 dollars! Are you kidding me?????????????? If you want to order them separate, they are 52.00 for 2 5x7's. This place is way overpriced! It said allow 1.5 hrs for sitting time, they were done with my daughter in less than 7 mins, I timed it. I do not know how people are supposed to afford these in this economy, unless you want to make payments. I will probably order one, and keep the proofs. Damn shame. The people who work here, need some lessons in customer service s well. they ignored us for over 5 mins when we came in, and then weren't anything special when we did receive help. read more

Just took my daughter here today for her Senior Portraits. Can't believe she will be a senior in the fall. That went by quick. We basically made an appointment to get her picture taken for her school's yearbook. It's not a surprise to me that these studios are outrageously expensive. They always have been even when I went to school back in the day. My high school used O'Conner's Photography and I paid for my own photos and they were pricey then. I can't imagine the cost now a days but regardless they are experts and are good at what they do and caters to the high school's guidelines. You are not required to purchase the photos if you don't want to. Unfortunately, if you want your child's photo to be in the yearbook, there is no way around the sitting fees. They do offer different packages. I purchased the Grad Session for $39 + tax = $42.51. You get traditional head shots and shoulder yearbook poses as well as cap & gown poses. You get a total of 16 poses. The studio provides the drapes for girls at no charge and I over heard tux shirts for the guys also at no charge. The girls that works at the reception area are friendly. Parents are to wait in the waiting room. My daughter says the photographer was very friendly and really cool. So, that's all that matters. Good job White's Studio! read more

What a scam! Do not patronize this business! I read the website and brochure that advertised reasonably priced portrait packages. I made an appointment for my daughter in the North Hollywood Studio, which was to last 1.5 hours , and decided on the "Super" package priced at $58 plus tax. Not bad right? The photos on the studio wall looked very professional and I was impressed. The session ended up taking only a half hour but I wasn't too disappointed. We were excited for this momentous occasion. Two weeks later I received proofs that were very dark but not bad looking. I was, however, shocked to see an order form with packages priced up to $500! I couldn't believe an 8 X 10 a la carte photo was $52! Where was my $58 Super package option? I called and was told the $58 I paid was only a sitting fee and the package prices were those ridiculously high priced ones on the order form. Huh? Sitting fee? No one told me that. The first girl I spoke to apologized and said they normally inform customers of that fact before pictures are taken. She also said many other people had similar complaints. If you opt not to buy any packages, they still submit a photo for the high school year book. Not satisfied because I started to feel like this was a bait and switch scam, I asked for a manager. "Tina" got on the phone and proceeded to state what sounded like a scripted description of their process. When asked why the "session fee" was not clearly explained she referred me to the brochure they mailed months before. She interrupted me on several occasions, and said their policy was clear to everyone else (insinuating that I was somehow less than intelligent). No one should have had to explain this before taking my check because this "session fee" was supposedly listed somewhere in their ad. She told me I could call and talk to Chris who was a manager the next day as turns out she was just the office manager. As a sanity check I re-looked at the website but still saw no clear explanation of the "sitting fee" or the fact that it is non-reimbursable. Here was vague description of the low priced sessions on the site, "The pictures below correspond with each type of session, and how many "looks" we will photograph for you". Silly me; it should have been crystal clear that this translated into a non-reimbursable session fee, right? And where was the ridiculous price list of the actual portrait packages? Why weren't those on website in the interest of full disclosure and customer education? In any event, I will not purchasing anything from this place. I will be requesting a refund of my hard earned money and making a report to the Better Business Bureau. If you are reading this, it's my guess that you might have had a similar experience too. Don't let these folks get away with these questionable business practices. Make your voice heard too! read more

Just took my portraits last week and they did not come out great. One of the photos were literally off centered and I was never directed by the lady of my smile. I also had to wear the tightest half tux and bow tie to take my photos which did not turn out how I expected to and honestly a suit and tie would've been the better option. The only photos I liked were my cap and gown photos where I had a suit and tie but otherwise than that I was pretty dissapppointed. read more

They were so helpful, I heard a lot of bad things about this place. But I believe in the "don't knock it till you try it" saying. I went in with my expectations so low and they definitely proved me wrong. The person in the front gave me the information I needed to receive and she did it with a perfect smile. The photographer was just as friendly, before, during and after my photo shoot we were conversations about movies and etc. and she treated me very elegantly.
