Unfortunately the Troungs sold the business. Customer service is terrible. I spent two weeks calling to ask about my annual exam due date. No one answered and no one called me back when I left a message. I finally decided to drive by. The person at the counter told me I had just had my annual and can reorder my contacts. I questioned this because I knew I hadn't been there recently. She then said she made a mistake and I would need the exam. I showed up two days later for my appointment. I was seen quickly. Just before my exam started the same person asked if I was interested in contacts or just an annual. When I said contacts she said this would have an extra charge which I had never paid using my insurance. Then I asked about it being covered by insurance and she said she didn't know and would need to ask the doctor. Based on the poor customer service I decided to leave. The reason my whole family would come here and even order contacts when you could get them for less online was the excellent customer service under the previous owners. read more

I've been Coming here for about 4-5 years I wanna say and I've had nothing but amazing professional experiences here. From Natalie up front, to Dr. Truong , the service and professionalism has been amazing! Just went in for an exam and I normally pay for my contacts when I pick them up. The young Latin lady who I've seen before was extremely rude today for whatever reason. I don't know her name so that's why I referred to her as Latin. She basically said out loud in front of me the customer/patient that what I was doing was annoying. Because I didn't want to pay then for my contacts. She was extremely rude and almost implying like I couldn't afford them at that moment and it was to make their job easier to pay for them now. This was my first time at this establishment; decided to give them a try on a referral and I was not disappointed. The entire office staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The abundance of caution and hygiene practices adopted to protect us from the Coronavirus was very reassuring and much appreciated. I was impressed with the technology and number of machines to test my sight--so much so I scheduled an appointment for my husband on the spot. (Although an unusually popular office, the ladies went out of their way to accommodate my husband's schedule.) I've been coming here for quite a few years now, and I've had the pleasure of being served by both Dr. Thomas Truong and Dr. Lynda Tang. They and their staff team here have made me feel welcome and have provided excellent service as well as stylish eye ware. I personally jump around between optometrists partially because my dad's insurance changed but also because my dad likes having options, and this optometry practice is just one of his favorites. Today, I needed glasses and contact lenses, so I was given a vision checkup as well as an eye health assessment. Needless to say, after my one eye health scare earlier this semester, I am now trying to be more attentive to my overall health (that means more sleep!!!). They were training a newbie Chloe to go through the pre-exam tests that include the peripheral vision test. Then, Dr. Truong gave me the eye-chart exam as well as the automatic prescription machine, air puff glaucoma exam, and general eye tests. The vision in my left eye is constantly deteriorating and Dr. Truong joked that it was because I am a student, which is true. My left eye is all just really weak. Then there's one staff lady there (I think her name is Jen) and she's always so good, but actually they're all so good in general. Jen helped me decide on my frames and she was real with me on what looked good and what didn't. Valley Family Optometry definitely makes me feel like family (LMAO). read more

Dr. Truong is professional and friendly. I really want to support a local business. However, his staff will upsell you on everything, and then delivery takes forever. Placed an order for glasses, and four days later they called to tell me that they couldn't place the order with the options I'd chosen... I needed to upgrade or change. Then I placed an order for contacts. Four days later they called with a question about the order, because it had not been placed yet. I've now been waiting for almost two weeks for this order (which they charged me for the day after I called) and they tell me it will not be in for another four days! I could have saved 25% if I had just ordered online, and I would have them by now. Ridiculous. read more

This was my second time seeing this optometrist because the one that the entire family used for years moved. The first time was an appointment for my son only and it seemed to have gone well. My only complaint was that when we went to order the updated lens for his eyeglasses the options we wanted that we know are included with our insurance were outrageously priced. We simply went to another vision center and got everything for no cost, after insurance. The second visit was the problem. Took my son and daughter and also was examined myself. The kids went first and were instructed to just entertain themselves on their cell phones and not wander around or touch anything while I was examined. I didn't realize I had to instruct the staff to stay away from the kids sitting quietly. When they initially finished their exams the young lady behind the desk asked if they needed help ordering their glasses. I informed her we would not be ordering glasses (their prices are crazy high, in my opinion). By the time I finished my exam (more on that later) and was walking out, an older woman was behind the desk and was asking me how I would like to pay for the frames my children had selected. The total was several hundred dollars. WTF?! I asked the kids what had happened and they said right after I went into the exam area, this woman showed up and started badgering them to select frames. My daughter, who is only 12, told her twice they weren't ordering glasses and my son (17) said he told her no less than half a dozen times they weren't ordering glasses. My son also said that the woman was really pushy and even told my daughter to move to the table and measured her for glasses even after both objected. Seriously? In my exam, all that wonderful high tech equipment (that I have seen at every other eye exam I have been to) didn't function correctly and couldn't even get a glaucoma pressure reading on one of my eyes. So much for being impressed by the high tech stuff. Have never ever had a problem like that elsewhere. On top of it all, they forgot to perform the contact lens examination, which is what was scheduled. When I called to try and get that mistake fixed, they couldn't get us back into the office to correct their oversight until after year end. I told them our insurance only covered one exam per year and we typically do that near year end and I didn't want them to use our annual benefit in January to correct their error. The woman that answered the phone said she understood and placed me on hold to check with the doctor to see what they could do. She came back minutes later and said it would be okay and that the doctor would not bill insurance for the exam. We scheduled the appointment and I asked if anything came available earlier if I could move the appointment up. I just recently received a call from another woman saying something had opened but we didn't have a benefit to cover the appointment and would have to pay. I explained what happened again and she had to check with the doctor. She came back and said that now we couldn't have the appointment because of COVID it would take longer to do a contact exam and so they were going to leave us with the original appointment after the year end. Really? So, there's time to do it if we pay but not enough, because of COVID, of course, if they have to correct their oversight at no charge? And then I supposed to believe they're not going to charge my insurance for the January exam? Right, like I was born yesterday. The doctor may be okay but someone up front is all about the money. On top of it, just like the first time we went there, their prices for frames and options were outrageous. They wanted several hundred dollars and we found the same frames and all the same lens add-ons for $29, after insurance versus hundreds there. read more

Went to the shop on Friday March 18, 2022. Had an appointment to be there at 9:30am. Saw the girl get dropped off at 9:27am. Walked over to the front of the business, and stood there until 10:20am. Still had the door locked, they were supposed to be open at 9:30am... Obviously my time did not mean anything to the employee, which keep in mind I took the day off for this. My wife is a long time customer, and always raved about thus place... I don't see why.... obviously the customer service is non existent, my time did not matter???? Why would I continue to business with this poorly ran business, who does not care about other people's time... I will not invest my money into this place, nor will I return and everybody I know will know how poorly ran this place is. I understand things happen, and maybe there is something wrong on the inside, but you need to let your customers know. I work for a very large corporation, and customer service is so important to keep loyal customers. This place just lost a loyal customer, and I am sure I convince the wife too. Dr. Truong is great! I went to him originally for glasses but after a little less than a year I took the leap into Lasik and he guided me to Dr. Berg. I went to get checked up by Dr. Truong after 1 day of my procedure along with, 1 week, and 1 month. I see him again in 2 months for the 3 month total period. I now see at 20/15 I believe was what he told me which is slightly better than 20/20. It's been a month and 1 week after my procedure and I'm very happy. Dr. Truong is willing to help you based on what you want and he gives you the pros and cons based on every decision you suggest to him. I appreciate his guidance and patience with everything I always had to ask him. read more

Took me in last minute for an eye exam on a Saturday morning after my glasses broke the night before. Dr. Truong was very friendly and patient. Him and his staff even made my 6 year old son feel comfortable while he waited. After the eye exam, got a quote for lenses, but decided to shop around for glasses at another store, Apple Optometry. After telling me a price for hi-index lenses that was more than twice what Dr. Truong was asking ($200 vs $80 using VSP), I quickly hurried back and even found his selection to be better. Was told up to 2 weeks to get my glasses since I have a thick prescription, but just got a call after only a week stating my glasses were ready. Found my go to optometrist! read more

Love this place! I bought a fabulous pair of Ray Ban progressives. I went all out: anti scratch, anti-glare, the works. Two months later, I fell asleep with my glasses next to me on my bed and woke up to my puppy gnawing on the frames. He had popped one of the lenses out and destroyed the rest. I was so upset, the frames were $275 alone. I called the office expecting to start all over and pay for an entire new pair ($470 including lenses). After I explained my situation, they informed me that They would replace my frames for $20! They ordered me a new pair of frames and put my existing lenses in them. And the girls were very friendly, the girl who did my different my mini exams was very sweet (I didn't get her name) then the Dr was beyond sweet. Dr.Tuang was very sweet, he gave his best judgment on my eyes. I didn't feel in any way that he was trying to milk me for more money. I've been seeing Drs. Tang & Truong since 1998, and would really be hard pressed to change. They are wonderful, professional and very accommodating. My contact prescription isn't always easy to resolve, and they just keep working with me until we have the right combination. If you don't live in the immediate area, they are absolutely worth the drive. They made an accommodation for me to be seen last minute, so that was awesome. They were also friendly and the doctor was knowlegable. Overall, I liked the service but I did not love it. Mainly, because I was surprised by the cost of my visit, what I thought would be $50 was actually over $100. Also, I told them I found them through yelp. I went there wanting to use the coupon from yelp and I know its my fault that I forgot to show it but it would have been nice to be reminded of that when I was struggling over the extra fees. Kind of like a cashier at a grocery store would tell you there is a coupon for that item, if you didnt have enough money to pay for it. Due to that, I felt there was a lack of customer service, on top of the addditional fees that I was unaware of., only 4 stars instead of 5. If I would have been more ontop of things it would have been a better experience. So come prepared to ask about all your fees up front. read more

This review is for the receptionists in the office. Two ladies, but one was orienting. They controlled how many people would enter and if you are only there for pick-up, they will bring out your glasses to you outside. They also had face shields on, hand sanitizers available, and would use lysol to disinfectant the office. In my last visit, the receptionists were done helping everyone and has already left the office. Of course, they would disinfect the office which was understandable. I was sitting on one of the chairs, just waiting for the Doctor. One of the receptionists, used lysol and sprayed everywhere. It was fine until she got closer to me and pretty much sprayed all around me which I thought was very rude. To the point that I had to fan myself, to make sure that the lysol does not make me cough because it was too much. I am not saying, she should have not disinfected, but if she really wanted to spray that much, she could have waited until ALL customers left the office. read more
