Love love loved my experience here! I recently got a disposable camera at a festival and didn't want to go the commercial route because I have heard horror stories about cameras getting lost. Plus, big box stores don't return the negatives to you and I liked having that option. Red room is a bit on the pricier side but again, you're paying for the service and supporting a local business. I paid $17 to develop the film and got it within 1 hour emailed to me! They'll store the negatives for 30 days. Attaching some pictures to show you the quality (obviously dependent on the settings of your camera as well!) Gentleman at the store was really sweet. Would highly recommend coming here! read more

It would be cruel to gatekeep this place. The turn around time for developing film here is out of this world. Typically it's less than 24 hours until you get your scans back. Today, I dropped off my film and not even 25 minutes later I got an email with my photos. I hope they stay in business forever!!! read more

Fred and his team went above and beyond when I was planning a surprise framed photograph of my husband's car with a custom-made frame for my husband for his birthday last year! He even went and fixed some issues with the rims and added a little love note on the bottom. It came out, absolutely incredibly stunning. My husband was blown away. He had this done so quickly and he let me proof it before I picked it up and even above and beyond to wrap it with some brown paper so I could surprise him. I can't thank him enough, and I can't wait to use him for more things in future. Also, he prints up photos that I used to frame around the house here and there he takes absolute pride in his work and listens to what you want and need. It was like when Jack first laid his eyes on Rose in Titanic, or like when Cookie Monster first tried cookies , or like when Kendrick Lamar saw what the Pop out meant to LA , or like when Charlie Sheen first tried ... wait nvm that's wild! You get me though right?!? RedRoom photo lab has truly brought life to creatives from the Valley. Specifically visual creatives and photographers. This place is literally heaven to film photographers like myself, and I can't thank them enough. I ain't no Stephen Vanasco or Atiba but I be shooting shooting. I got some stripes like a Zebra! I truly wish I could just bring a mariachi band and serenade Freddie and David. Respectfully though and don't tell my girl Ive never even thought about doing that for her. But they're the Robin Hood's of Van Nuys. Absolutely do not waste your time or money here. My partner and I came in for what should've been a simple passport photo session. We paid $40 for two sets of physical prints and were sent on our way -- not even offered digital copies. For reference, Walgreens does this for $16.99 per person including a digital version. But fine, maybe they're pricier because they're more "professional," right? Wrong. After scanning the prints to submit through the official U.S. passport renewal site, they were rejected for having incorrect proportions. I returned with the official .gov specifications in hand, hoping they'd simply retake the photos correctly. Instead, they tried to charge an additional $15 retake fee per person and a $5 fee just to email the photos. When I pointed out that the proportions were clearly listed on the government website, their excuse? "Oh, that must be new. We didn't know those were the digital requirements." This is a business that claims to do tons of passport photos, yet somehow has no clue what the actual requirements are -- and worse, they refuse to take responsibility for their mistake. Now I'm out $40, with two completely useless photos and the pleasure of being gaslit by a staff who think it's the customer's job to know the photo specs better than the supposed professionals. Save yourself the headache. Go anywhere else. read more

Dropped off a disposable camera on Feb. 6 in the evening and got the digital copies almost an hour later! So fast. Then I got the notification the next day stating that my prints were ready for pickup. The quality of the prints was great, and I am coming back here for more photo development. read more

This is my second time going to Red Room Photo Lab and both times were wonderful experiences! Fred is so kind and helpful and I feel good supporting a local shop! The first time I came to develop film from a disposable camera. It was only $10 or $15 (can't remember) to get it developed and sent to you digitally. I was shocked at how fast the turn around was! It was so exciting to get my photos back. Second time I went was to get passport photos done. I was in and out so quickly and it was about $15. Needed some scanned photos printed for a funeral service and Kenny was super helpful and knowledgeable. He was able to communicate what would work best for being able to get what we wanted. 44 year old photo was able to be zoomed and printed large enough for what we were looking for. I don't know anything about this but they were able to walk through the process and get it done quickly as we had a quick turn around. I recommend coming here for your photo needs. Horrible horrible business and especially everyone that works here. They lie to your face and they do not care about the customer at all. All they care about is their followers and clout. We were at an event and paid for photos and asked them to send to us digitally and they said they couldn't at the time but to message them a DM on Instagram with the photo we want sent digitally. I've been trying to reach out to them for months and they are toying with me. Me and couple of other customers are being played by them and they are teasing us and misleading us by asking us to email them and not keeping their word. Now this business does not care about customer needs. Once you pay and get your photo printed, forget you as a customer right away. So unprofessional and I can't believe how they just lie to your face. I would expect this photo company wanting to grow and be tagged and do whatever it takes to grow their business but all they care about is $$$. Came here in Jan with about 20 rolls of old film I found while cleaning out my parents house. I wanted to surprise them with a family collage for my Dad's 70th birthday. Took all the old film here to see if they thought it could be developed. I understand after the first conversation that they would try their best but there was no guarantee they could get images off the film given how old the rolls were. Are a long chat with the guy at the counter explaining their process and the risk of not getting any images to print I still decided to go ahead and try, with the understanding I would get a store credit for the rolls they could develop/print. After this first interaction I had nothing but issues with this shop. I had to chase them up every step of the way. After getting no response or follow up on my emails and calls I had to pop in to the shop to get updates on my photos and each time I went in the guy at the counter ( always a different person) seemed unable to find my stuff or know the status or the order. On my 2nd pop in to see the status of the printing the guy who helped me this time took about 10 minutes walking around the shop trying to figure out what was going on with my order then eventually let me know they would print the photos that could be printed and let me know when they were ready. I then get an invoice and message saying they'll print my photos after I pay this second invoice even though I already prepared $300 for them to develop and print all the film I initially dropped off. After another email interaction clarifying that I already paid, my photos were ready for pickup. When I picked up the photos I asked the guy helping me this time (different person from all previous visits) to let me know how much store credit I had since I dropped off about twenty rolls of film and they printed no more than 5. He couldn't answer me but said someone would get back to me. After a couple days of no contact I sent an email asking for the balance/store credit amount and still have not heard back. I really wanted to support this business but their customer service and ability to manage their orders is trash. I have been deeply disappointed with every interaction/ transaction. read more

Used them for C-41 develop only. Friendly staff, fair price, very fast turnaround. But negatives had lots of dust, some roller and Easter marks. Happened on a second roll at a later date. Maybe they do a better job on negatives they also scan, but mine were a real mess and did not clean up easily. Won't use them again. Their team quickly helped me figure out what I needed; and said I would see the digitized prints of my 35mm film within 1 - 2 days. To my great surprise - I had results in my inbox within 3 hours!! WOW! What service! Absolutely amazing!! The quality is great. The pictures look wonderful - the colors are vivid and true to form. The price was extremely affordable! My dad dropped off my film yesterday, I chose the developing+medium res. digital copies+prints package. Amazingly priced, the digital copies were said to come back to me in a few days but they actually came back within about 3 hours! They turned out beautifully, I attached some of them below. I went on a trip out of the country and when I called to see if my photos were still there they were tossed out. They have a 30 day policy so be advised: don't wait to pick up your photos. I wish I would've gotten a call or courtesy reminder before they got tossed because I would've remembered and picked them up. 100 photos that's a lot of memories and resources to just toss. I was sad to hear that the only notification to prevent this is a verbal warning at the time of purchase and the paper slip. Maybe something can be implemented to help reduce waste of resources with a simple courtesy call? -your friendly eco conscious customer read more

So reliable! Very reasonable dev/scan pricing for 35mm and 120 film, and the one-day standard turnaround is awesome. Normal scans always look great (I believe they use a Noritsu), and they also offer high-res scanning options too. Fred, Paolo and Kenny are all really nice and helpful, and they recently started a little camera selling operation at the front. Fast, affordable, and quality turnaround for developing and scanning photos. They even send you the scans in a zip file which is convenient. But I think their print quality leaves a lot to be desired (the dark/shadowed parts of the photos are streaky and indistinguishable compared to the photo scans). I would print scans elsewhere. Some time has passed since the last time I had a roll developed and scanned. I picked up a Pentax Spotmatic from my guys at Red Room, and got me some HP5, Portra 400.. and the photos turned out magical. One little teeny hiccup, almost all my scans had this line going all the way across, I emailed them, asking if it might be the camera, the film, or a scan issue?
