    Wings

The wings were the best wings I had on my trip to DC lol. The drinks were frozen slushie so they were as expected, decent. The bar attendant's service was great. The restaurant is spacious and has live music. I'll return during my next visit.

Best chicken tenders and fries. They were delicious with some sort of BBQ seasoning on them. The Skimmers iced tea was gross. Surfsides are 10x better. Just charge me a dollar more and give me a Surfside. The gentleman who was the host today was super cool. He was my favorite!

Stopped in here for a drink, the decorations were plenty and holiday themed so we assumed they would have some holiday drinks....they did not. They should considered some holiday cocktails with how Christmas themed it was in there. We sat ourselves at the bar and the bartender came over pretty quickly. Made our drinks and we paid and just chilled here. It's a very sports bar place, it was packed with people watching the game.

There are a lot of places to eat on the wharf, but on a Sunday afternoon they are all packed. So after I landed I had a craving for wings and a nice place to watch the game I ordered traditional buffalo wings and fries but the wings were not crispy and lacking sauce, as if they were sitting too long and observed what they were tossed in. So, I had to ask for extra. The service was ok, the bartender forgot a couple of items like my drink and the drink was flat.... It's a nice bar, they have TVs everywhere to watch live events and an upstairs as section as well that seemed pretty lively. The projector is nice, it's located on the far wall near one of the entrances, but there's too much light in the day time and you have to alter your seating position just to watch it, you'll see.

What started out as a 4 star review continued to go downhill. I want to like this place, and as a resident on the waterfront who loves supporting the restaurants here, I will come back to give it another chance. Seating was prompt and the guy at the door is an ambassador for the place. Friendly, ready to answer questions, and a spare menu in hand to let folks peruse. I like the look of the place. They've added more social seating on the balcony from the previous establishment. Definitely dog friendly with lots of water bowls at the ready. The menu is better than average bar fare and I was happy to see that they offer gyros, which I think is unique at the Wharf. I also upgraded from the fries to the onion rings. This is where things started to go downhill. The food came out promptly, and the Gyro *looked great. Tasty meat, fresh veggies, and tzatziki. But when I took a bite something was off and I picked it out immediately. They'd used blue cheese instead of feta cheese, and wow that made an overpowering impression. Also, the onion rings were overdone (which I can forgive). Probably what bugged me the most is that my server disappeared for long periods. Perhaps she had a lot of tables (the place was busy) so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. But when the check finally came (which I waited 30 minutes for) I noticed that the bill comes with 20% gratuity added. It feels a little sneaky because the tip line doesn't say, "Additional tip." And I get it... tipping culture in the city can be spotty. But I'd feel better with the establishment paying a living wage, saying that, then leaving an option for additional tip. The current way of doing it seems shady. This first experience was rough. Like I said, I'll give it another shot and either update or confirm.

The line after we got kicked out for using the restroom.

Security lady with short hair was on some power trip or something. After being on the top floor for 3 hours my friend went down the stairs to pee, and she made him leave and get back in line for no reason. I went down and tried to explain the situation and she dismissed me and called a security guard. I got kicked out for absolutely no reason and they didn't even bother to listen, confiscated my drink and ushered me out a side door. This establishment needs to brush up on their customer service, I should not be kicked out for having to use the restroom. Ridiculous.

Went for a Penn State watch party. Was hard to find seats but eventually did. There was specific deals for the watch party got some nachos and two drinks, the nachos didn't have meat but they came out fast and were pretty good.

We came to Whitlow's looking for a more casual vibe for dinner. We were able to get outside seating, which is covered and there are fans so you can enjoy even on a very hot day. We are seated quickly and given waters, and our server took our order rather quickly. The mozzarella sticks were huge! But also very cheesy which is a huge plus. We opted to get the burger which had a lot of great flavor. The only downside is that after our food came service slowed down so we were unable to ask for additional drinks and napkins, which napkins are crucial when eating a burger. Overall, if you're looking for a casual summer vibe definitely recommend.

Crabcakes and onion rings were one entrée fish and chips was the other entrée. Crabcakes were delicate a lot of fillers, and served on a brioche bun with lettuce and tomato. The aïoli sauce delicious. Onions were white and crunchy. The other meal of fish and chips was a light beer batter style. The french fries had a smoky flavor with a crunchy exterior and a tender interior. The lemon drops martinis served were top-notch. Crown and coke cocktails were flavorful with the bourbon coming through over. Mike, the owner, even had the time to come over to chat with us. It was nice to come into this type of atmosphere of a wharf restaurant and not have table sticking to our forearms as we were resting. The place was clean and welcoming. I forgot to take pictures of her food for this review. But trust me, food was beautiful and delicious.

Solids bar food, good service and location, lots of TV's to watch the game and the orange crush is really good!

    not so good nachos .....
    Alexander D.

The starter's wings, 'Dry' as in dried out. The nachos were ordered with chicken and the best part of it were the actual nacho chips I'm not exaggerating. The Coca-Cola product was flat. The raspberry tea was impersonating as raspberry tea! I opted for the Gyro over the burger based on how everything was not sure that would've been a winner either.

Service was a bit slow. Food quality okay. However, I didn't appreciate their adding an automatic gratuity for someone dining alone. Beware!

We ordered the Mac and cheese bites but they did not have any Mac.. it was just fried cut up mozzarella sticks. Which is great.. if that's what it was called on the menu. We also ordered a fried chicken sandwich and a pub burger. The chicken sandwich was fine. The pub burger was ... meh. The pretzel bun they brought out was over toasted and looked like it was pretty dry before that. Like it was HARD. No one came to check on us after the food arrived so I had to take my plate to the check out desk to address the issue. Cait took care of it right away; I asked for just a new bun - I don't mind swapping it out myself. But in the end the burger was still just meh. Almost forgot to mention the fries .. not great. They were salted well but the fries themselves were almost chewy. When we checked out, Cait said apologized and mentioned some staffing issues. She offered to get in touch with some sort of compensation but didn't offer to waive our one beer. We left paying full price for everything. Again, fine spot if you just wanted to hang out and drink beer.

At Bluejacket, they have put their money where they are known for pouring beer into the beer production process itself. Here is the thing, they make great beer and their food is well executed as well. In addition to great beer, their offerings were highly diverse, offering something for every palate. Being that I am currently appreciating lagers, I enjoyed their Gan Bei, their Common People and I especially liked their Briefly Gorgeous beer. Serving in all formats from samples to 1 liters, you can sample or consume until your heart is content. Pro tip, look out for their happy hour where the offer discounts on liters of beer! I really enjoyed the burger and fries the last time I was there. It was on point and paired perfectly with my helles. Service was good, and let us camp for about 3 hours while watching a game. I have and will be back, thanks for what you do, Bluejacket. One request - look into procuring a side pour system, I think your lagers would be exceptional in that serving style.

Parking can be tricky since Nats Park is right across the street, so plan ahead or consider rideshare. The area itself is great though -- lots of cute bars and restaurants nearby if you want to explore before or after. I'd recommend this spot mainly for the vibes and drinks. They don't have an extensive food menu but more of small bites. I ordered a quesadilla, which wasn't the best I've had (reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5) but the ambience made up for it. I loved the fireplaces; they kept us warm with the cold night. When we went, it was pretty light, so we had the rooftop almost entirely to ourselves, which made it even better. Fast service and a great atmosphere overall -- definitely worth checking out for the views and experience!

The bars and restaurants on the main level of this area are always packed - I don't think the masses know about this nice bar quite yet. This outdoor bar overlooks Nats stadium (you can see about 60-70% of the field ); the views are absolutely fantastic, especially on warm weather days. There are 6-10 bar seats at a long bar and another smattering of 6-8ish bar tables scattered on the rooftop. There are also some more unique lounge style seating which really makes the spot seem comfortable and relaxed. There are a couple TVs hung in the bar area which also makes this a great place to catch a football game on Sundays. Their happy hour is everyday from 4-7pm; they offer discounted beer and wine for $7-8 and select discounted cocktails for $10. The service is always quick and the bartenders are warm and friendly. There is a limited food menu, though I'd advise grabbing a bite elsewhere. I've had the food just once; my chicken tenders were pretty flavorless and had a tough texture - won't get those again. Would rather pay a little more for better quality at Nats park. I'll continue to be a frequent visitor - this is the perfect rooftop pregame spot.
