I came to grab some fruits, specifically pineapples. It was nicely cut and ready to eat. I was in and out within few minutes. All good. I came around 12:31pm, it was crowded. Folks buying lunch and grocery. When I am in town, I come here to grab some fruits or other ready to eat foods.

Just popped in to get my usual sushi fix. I love when I catch the spicy crab California rolls I peeper those but the regular California rolls serves its purpose so it's all good!

I'm new to the whole "Whole Foods Market" and really enjoying it. I see that the store follow the same model from location to location so I am sure that the reviews will be pretty much the same except for the location specific items. This store in Berkley is pretty much a mirror of our store in Long Island This store is perfectly located in a very large lot with a huge parking lot. The lot is busy and we had to look for a space since there are so many people here. The store is very big and very bright. They really make it a welcome place to do your shopping. Besides your standard groceries of canned items, boxed items, bottles and cans, they have an AMAZING meat and fish counter. Plenty of choices of both fresh and cooked items are right there. There is also a wide variety of sauces and spices so there is something for everyone. They have an amazing selection of fresh sandwiches and even a pizza oven for constant supply of fresh pizza. They also make fresh sandwiches on demand in their very complete deli. There is also a major selection of soups, salads, warm and cold food. Clearly you can spend hours here. In the back of the store is the return center for your Amazon purchases. The staff here is amazing and can help you with any questions or direct yu to someone who can. I am always impressed to see people working and clearly enjoying themselves. The market is an amazing place and I look forward to coming here more times and just trying all their creations as I continue to come to Berkley. KUDOs to the team at Whole Foods Market

In general I like coming here. But I don't like shopping while black. I don't fault the majority of the employees -- I know they are underpaid and overworked, but it is clear they profile.

    6 oyster shells

Bought the $12 for $12 oyster special on Friday for the first time. Shucking took a while so I got 6 instead. Didnt realize until later i was charged for 12 anyway. Called manager Kat who apologized and refunded total bill. Always ask for a manager as the first store staff brushed me off.

Whole Foods ready made food selection is the best here at their Gilman location! I always can count on a good selection of soups and they seem to have lots of choices of food with curry in them. Their staff is always very helpful and the lines are not too long like at other locations. Their fresh pasta bar is always a hit when I'm in the food for some fresh pasta! And they have a great wine selection. The store is always pretty clean and inviting atmosphere! I enjoy shopping here after my acupuncture appointments and have fun jamming to their music while I shop.

Lecithin!!! My search is finally over

Darrell took be time to help me find Lecithin, a necessary ingredient for making chocolate. Went to many stores before it dawned on me that Whole Foods would likely have it. Many thanks to Darrell for dropping everything and helping me track this stuff down!

    No hotdogs here.

Is the Gilman Whole Food location a better dining experience than the Whole Foods on Telegraph Ave?

I liked the long-time manager Michael (now many years retired). I was out of state for about 10 years, and returned a few years ago. I have dropped in here now and then for an item or two (or just to use the restroom, which is always very clean), and left empty-handed each time because the prices are laughably exorbitant. You can tell a lot about a business - grocers or other - by the mood or attitude when you walk in. I don't know if employees have been burned by bad customers or if it is just more post-pandemic 'Weltschmerz,' but whenever I stopped in here I never felt welcomed, or as though the staff actually enjoy working here. I hear no customer-staff friendly banter, see hardly any smiles. It is just stony-faced, entitled (mostly white) people getting what they need, not interacting with or making eye contact with others, much less exchanging smiles or friendly "hellos." It is one more example of the bratty coldness that has taken over most of Berkeley, which breaks my heart. This used to be a lovely market to call my "neighborhood market," but absolutely no longer is. Before any employees or the manager chime in with a response to defend their laughably exorbitant prices by reminding me of how small a market they are - whoa there, little kitties - your prices are still higher than Monterey Market up the road or another employee-owned market, Berkeley Bowl. I can't even afford to puchase a bottle of mustard here, and must get it at Trader Joes. Be honest: This market is for VERY WEALTHY PEOPLE ONLY or for people who DON'T MIND MAXXING OUT THEIR CREDIT CARDS HERE so that they can feel like one of the "cool kids" for shopping here. Your produce is beautiful, your shop very spic 'n span clean, I appreciate that you offer non-GMO and Fair Trade groceries, but you could do better, truly, by making the less-than-ridiculously wealthy people feel more welcome here. You'd have to care about us first though.

The quality of the products is second to none, i.e. the almond butter is the best among any brand I've ever tasted, and the seeds, spices, honey, cacao, coconut butters, sugars, grains, nuts and oils that I have ordered have all been extremely fresh and vibrant-tasting. Even though the products had to be shipped across the country from the West to the East coast to reach my door, they always arrive undamaged and taste like they have just been harvested. I make pesto weekly, with fresh organic basil and organic extra virgin olive oil. Sometimes, I eat pine nuts as a snack. I had never heard of Siberian Pine Nuts until I came upon this delicacy. This is a real treat. It has the most delicate buttery, creamy, slightly sweet and complex taste. It was very hard to put the spoon down. This is perfect for dipping fruit, spreading on toast, for adding to a smoothie or making pesto; but I honestly wouldn't. This is a real indulgence on its own. I absolutely recommend this product. It's raw, organic, made by an amazing company; it's a real sensory experience. True delicacy!
