I've been using this service for about a month now. I have to say, I have a strict diet as I can't eat red meat, dairy and basically anything else good that restaurants serve. Working like crazy and eating out all the time I was spending so much money. I needed a place that could give me quality food, 5 days a week. I'm not a big eater, but I'm not a small eater either. That being said I ordered the larger meals for breakfast lunch and dinner. Everything has been great, delivery has been great, customer service is great. I'm also not the most adventurous eater or cook. I'm been introduced to a lot of good flavors and great ideas to try myself on the weekend. I don't really understand the 1 star review, seems crazy considering how responsive and friendly they are at this company. It feels like they know everyone that orders and genuinely care. Also they are on point with the sauces! I wish I could bottle some of them and drink it... (that might sound gross but they are so good) Some times the food gets to my house at midnight and I can bring it in but I've never had a problem with the food, even picking it up at 8 (maybe the dairy free frosting for the pancakes were runny but thats my fault for waiting till 8). Every week I get a menu, If I didn't like something on it, they would change it for me. I mean, its pretty great. 3 meals a day/ 5 days a week ran me just under 300 bucks a week. It sounds like a lot but when you account for the fact that you aren't tipping or paying tax, its pretty good, I ended up saving a couple hundred bucks a month. I've also lost 8 pounds. No working out, just working long hours, eating and sleeping. I would strongly recommend trying them. Also it should be noted that I live in a townhouse complex, my girlfriend lives in an apartment with a coded entry and neither of us have had an issue with delivery. Give them a try!!!! read more

Don't let the stellar review fool you! I was very disappointed with the value and quality of the food. The price was vastly higher than what I was getting. Would you pay $15 for "sunny side up" eggs (eggshells included...) with grilled bell peppers and onions? Or how about $17 for a spinach salad with roasted chicken breast with thousand island dressing? At first I thought the price included delivery, but it turns out that the delivery charge is separate; I paid $24 for delivery. What I saw through the photos from other Yelpers is not what I got. I ordered some food off the no sugar detox as they said if I'm trying to lean out that that is the way to go! So I committed to a week being that a lot of these companies food is not the best! Personally I found that the found was lacking any flavor ! There breakfasts and lunch were not that bad but there dinners I found to be horrible. I got sick from them serving undercooked chicken! Which they said they do this on purpose so u don't under cook it! So all in all food is healthy but tastes horrible and healthy food doesn't have to taste so bland ! Rude! Snarky! Couldn't get past the greeting. The person who answered the phone wasn't clear what I was asking so somebody else grabbed the phone out of her hand and barked at me and I couldn't get a word in. I was so startled it just kind of took my breath away. So I said "I'm sorry, maybe I'll just call later," they yelled at me and said "Fine!" and hung up on me. Nope. Not even close. We ordered this food on Friday, received the first meals on Monday, and what a disaster. Terrible, airplane food aspiring to one day be on par with hospital food. The proteins are either undercooked or cooked until they resemble the consistency of jerky. The vegetables are not fresh, they are wilted and they use way too much cabbage. I emailed the company to cancel right after I had my first meal. Unfortunately, they have a 72 hour cancellation period so I'm stuck with meals until Wednesday (I think this is their business model, sell people a well marketed, sub-par product and generate a solid revenue by charging them for meals they don't want, and can't stomach. The reviews about chicken being raw are so right. I Just cut into my compulsory second day of meals-chicken shouldn't be raw. It's dry and rubbery on the outside and undercooked on the inside. My husband and I wanted to find a good option for healthy food delivery--fresh ingredients, farm to table, organic and delicious. We were impressed by Wholesome2Go's website and reviews and we noticed that they offer diet or detox programs but we went ahead with the regular program since we're not looking for diet or detox - just good food for everyday life. Boy, were we disappointed! The portions are absolutely unreasonable. They are portioned out for those on a strict calorie counting diet. We are not big eaters but these portions are not within reasonable daily calorie allotments. The food does not come with menus so you have no idea what you're eating. And, ironically although you order by the day of the week, the food has no variation. In other words, I received chicken salad for lunch followed by chicken for dinner. Then, two days in a row, we received a protein (which we think might have been tofu one night and chicken the next -- very difficult to identify) with a green vegetable and brown rice. I was really shocked by how little thought seemed to have gone into this process. The food itself is not too bad. Some of the sauces are tasty. I think they just need to tweak the portion sizes and organize the week's order so that folks can enjoy their meals as a part of a larger plan. read more

It hunger pains me to put up just one star, but my week long experience with this meal delivery service was less than stellar. I signed up for the vegetarian dinners, thinking of the convenience factor of having a dinner ready for you after the long grind. I kid you not when I say I only attempted to each one meal and ended throwing away everyone other one for the week. There is no description of what you are eating and each meal is as bland as the next. There were two nearly identical dinners given within a week and needless to say it went straight to the trash. And the delivery service itself had issues. They took my keys and didn't pick up the bag the next day. On my very last delivery, they left the bag in my front yard for four days before someone finally came back for it. I was definitely disappointed by the lack of variety, especially vegetables, lack of taste and lack of on the ball delivery service. It doesn't matter if the food is healthy or delicious, because the food was often delivered to me in black cooler bags with ice packs that aren't always frozen, often mildly cold. And they are left in the sun, which, even at 6am, absorb enough Los Angeles sun to often leave the food between 50 and 70 degrees. Wholesome2Go is the best meal delivery service I've had, and I've tried a lot of them over the years. The food is high quality and well... very wholesome! :-) None of the food has gone bad by the time I received it, and none of it is processed or purchased pre-made; they make everything fresh. It all healthy, fresh, locally farmed whole foods. Lots of high quality proteins and low glycemic vegetables... and no sugar, grains, soy, dairy - all the things I'm completely addicted to. In addition, they are organized, super accommodating, and their customer service is great. A little background: I love eating a whole foods based diet, but I had gotten into a really bad rut with my food. I was drinking Starbucks every morning, not drinking enough water during the day to make up for my coffee, let alone hydrate myself, and I was eating a lot of starchy, sugary, sodium-laden food (and way too much of it!). My sugar and carb cravings were out of control. All I wanted to eat was sugary food, then salty food, then sugar, then salt. It was pretty bad. My energy was low, my clothes didn't fit anymore, and I knew I had to make some serious changes to get back to feeling good and eating the way I like to eat - wholesome and healthy (and actually enjoying it). So when I found Wholesome2go's Sugar Control Detox plan, I knew I had to try it. At first I thought I could put a plan together and do it myself, but I quickly realized I don't have the time (or the willpower, right now anyway) to do it myself. It's a bit pricey, and the cost is tough for me to do, but since I was probably spending around $30/day on food (with all the dining out I was doing, usually with wine, it could have been higher than that), I view the additional cost as hiring an assistant for a period of time to do the meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking for me, and to teach me how and what I should be eating and proper portion sizes. Such a great way to get back on track! I do the sugar detox 14 day program whenever I'm feeling like the sugar in my system is out of control. it always does the trick and i'm always so amazed at the creativity of my meals. I have to say the food is great, organic and so fresh. AND if ever I have a question or issue, it's been answered quickly, even after hours. ( I thought i had gotten a red meat dish which i don't eat but in fact, it was chicken with a deep red sauce........James called me back on a Sunday. Nice!) My feeling of bloatedness goes away after the first week and my fogginess is completely gone after week 2....and I'm not starving like I feel when I used to juice cleanse!!! It's one of the best alternatives out there. One suggestion I would make would be to make sure you have a safe, cool (temperature wise) place to drop off the bag. Full disclosure: I don't know these people but I want to refer to them as "My Loves the Food Fairies, Angels of Meals." I signed up because I saw the reviews here and I can now competently state that the food is in fact delicious. That was no exaggeration on the part of my reviewer colleagues. The meal I just finished was OMG delicious. Some are just regular good/yummy. All of the food is incredibly vibrant, healthy and fresh, and just so perfectly cooked! The praise has to go to the talent of the chef, because the execution of all this healthful deliciousness is quite clever. I signed up because I was feeling exhausted, run down, puffy and undernourished. I now feel better fed than if I had a farmer grandma making me veggies every few hours over a cast-iron stove. My skin is glowing, too, that was a nice plus. It costs a bit, true, but put two weeks of the Sugar Control Detox on a card and consider it money well-spent. Do it anytime you feel terrible and you need self-care. Customer service very warm as well. They send cute little videos too. After 6 days of eating every two hours I have lost 4 or 5 pounds, even though (a) I didn't *really* need to lose weight and (b) I took two days off to go to a wedding where I drank a half bottle of wine and had four desserts (Fail!) and (c) I don't exercise. Maybe it was just water, but I'm not complaining. Plus I have another 8 days to go. I have used two competitors a few years ago and I found them good/fine, worthy of praise, sometimes inconsistent. I tried and completed the 14 day Sugar Control Detox Plan (SCD Plan) through Wholesome To Go. I travel a lot for work & can often be catered for when working on set and traveling. However it isn't always food I would choose myself. So it's important for me after a big trip to check in with my diet. I really loved the food provided by Chef James & Co. It was fresh, yummy & very filling. The delivery man spoke with us for some time to ensure that we would be getting our meals properly and we knew what to expect. Interestingly, My cravings for morning coffee vanished completely. I actually enjoy coffee for the taste. I don't need it to wake up. But come week 2 I found it all a bit much & realised I was running on my bodies natural stimulant and any extra simply wasn't required. Bonus! Having fresh food delivered daily to my door, what a treat! No frozen meals at all. Honest, tasty, wholesome food ready for my busy days ahead, that was a nice treat. I really appreciated that. I had several days on set and it's so easy to get tempted and end up snacking at the Craft Services table. I didn't need to. My meals were perfect and that suited my long days where I needed things taken care for me. WTG delivered before 7am, which was wonderful. Esp as someone whose call time was 7am. I could open the door and head to set with my food ready and waiting for me. Perfect. Seriously, I can't say that enough, the food was delicious! I've always wondered "how would I cook chard" now I am confident when to use it in a meal. I would definitely recommend the SCD Plan. The SCD Plan brings awareness to your body of how dependent you can become on sugar. (even those of us who can be strict, it sneaks in!) I'm a fairly healthy person, but I didn't realise how many slip ups I was allowing into my diet. I used this service for a two week period to try to learn how to eat better and to try to control the sugar highs and lows that I was getting from diet with carbohydrates. I was not expecting the food to taste good :) Well James proved me wrong. This food is delicious. I have a whole new appreciation for vegetables. They really do taste good when combined and flavored the way James prepares them. And with each meal still having lean protein in the form of fish, chicken, turkey, lean beef and with good fats (nuts, plant oils), you don't feel hungry. You actually feel quite satisfied. My wife is such a beautiful and thoughtful human being. So much so that she was willing to shell out over $1,200 for 17 days worth of meals from this place in an attempt to help me get my blood sugar under control. This was supposed to be a surprise that totally backfired due to no fault of her own. I'm sorry Baby!! On the surface, this place seems like a great option for the healthy minded. But beyond the pictures and planted reviews, there are some serious customer service issues. At the point of intake, my wife specifically stated my food allergies. Since Wholesome2Go actually asked in their questionnaire, there was no reason to anticipate this being a problem. Well, lo and behold, Wholesome2Go totally ignored every single food allergy listed and instead filled the entire first 3 meals with items I am allergic to. It was as though they were intentionally trying to poison me. Needless to say, the food was not eaten. After several days of leaving voicemails and sending emails, my wife and I decided to just cancel the service altogether. After 3 days, Wholesome2Go responded to her via email promising to refund the payment in full. They sent someone out that evening to pick-up the bags of uneaten food. Easy enough right? Not at all... Instead of refunding the payment, Wholesome2Go sends out a random text message the next day to alert us of an unsolicited upcoming second meal delivery. Looks like they decided on their own accord that they were deserving of another chance. In all this, they totally ignored the rule about "leaving well enough alone". Do you know that Wholesome2Go sent out another meal complete with more food items that I am allergic to? That was a week ago today. My poor wife has sent more emails and left more voicemails requesting that they come pick-up their delivery bag and food. Wholesome2Go has altogether ignored her. The food has spoiled and was totally stiiiinkin up the place until I sealed up their transport bag up in a bigger trash bag. It's looking like we may have to file a small claims suit against these folks if they have not refunded us within 30-days (the time period they are allotted to process refunds according to our card company). read more

This service is an excellent gift for new parents! My husband and I are not from LA, so when we recently had our first baby our families couldn't drop by a casserole or lasagna. Instead, they paid for us to receive meals from this service for several weeks. Having healthy, ready to eat meals was such a help when you're overwhelmed by the changes parenting brings. Instead of worrying about cooking, I would just open the fridge and grab a breakfast, lunch, snack, or dinner from that day's delivery. It felt great to know I was eating well too! They didn't but were able to modify their delivery route so they could stop by my house. I really appreciate that!! I LOOOOVE sugar, carbs, crunchy, salty. Many times I'd realize at the end of the day that all of my meals consisted of muffins, proteins bars, chips... anything quick and easy, but no actual REAL food. I opted to try W2G Sugar Control Detox because I was tired of the high/low energy swings, difficulty sleeping (unless I ate enough to put me into "food coma"), bad skin and cranky moods. But I'll be honest, what I really wanted was a quick 2-week fix to lose some weight before going home for the holidays. I was skeptical going in that W2G could recalibrate my tastes long term, but the Yelp reviews were so positive that I decided to give it a shot. Day 1 my body still hadn't realized this wasn't just another one of my very brief attempts at clean eating so it was fine. Day 2 she started complaining in the form of low energy but my mind stayed firm on sticking to the plan Day 3 she threw headaches into the mix to see if I would break but my mind said, "You already paid in full for this service so no turning back!" Day 4 This was my over-the-hump day. Headaches gone, energy up, sleeping better and even feeling overly optimistic for no apparent reason. The next couple of days were mostly a breeze (sometimes my mind out of habit would say, "ya sure you don't want that cookie, candy bar, cupcake, latte?!" but I held firm promising myself that if I still wanted it on Day 15 I would eat it). I knew something had really changed in me when I ate the mixed berries that came with breakfast and they tasted so sweet it may as well have been a double chocolate cupcake. I have been a customer for less than two weeks. I opted to receive vegetarian meals. In the last 11 days I received at least 5 meals with meat in it. Most times I contacted Customer Services I was just apologized to but left with a meal I could not eat. Today, I was told that the chicken on my plate was not meat...it was. I am really, really happy with the W2G. This is the 3rd meal prep/delivery service I've tried, and I've been waiting for the ball to drop for the 3rd time with W2G....but it hasn't. These guys are consistently providing healthy, whole, real foods to me and the taste is amazing. I am getting (and eating) so many veggies now, that when I eat in restaurants, the side of veggies (which one usually has to arrange with the server) seem so small. I feel great after eating the food too. Great all day. Lastly, and call me hokey if you will....I can tell that the person/people behind the creation of each meal put a lot of love and care into each one, and they want the meals to be the best they can be. I feel little goofy voicing this thought, but I can really sense this, just as I can sense when something is done to meet a requirement or bottom line - W2G walks the walk. And they've accommodating every single one of my requests. People ask me about the cost. Well, its more $ than most are used to spending on food, but that does't mean its too expensive. It's all relative and what is important to you. I did the math - I don't have time to plan/drive to store/shop/prep/cook/clean meals for myself, so am always picking up food or eating out. So I can spend $30-$40/day easily like this. Yes, I try to find the "healthiest" restaurants to do this, but I have yet to find a restaurant that can provide the quality of meals form W2G. And I know everything is GF, so that is a MASSIVE time saver and one less thing to have to research and double check. Time is money, so for me this all balances out. I rated them $$ (not $$$) because I'm comparing what you get for your money compared to other meal delivery services. Just be prepared, once you get used to eating these real whole foods, it becomes difficult to consume a typical restaurant meal...they don't look or taste as clean to me anymore. Have you ever done a Detox with the right foods?!!? I surely am not new to cleanses. I've always chose ones that were sensible and not calorie depleting for my busy lifestyle. Eating well was not an issue, my culprit has always been SWEETS. I'm good for most weeks but it never fails to somehow end up with months of just too many sweets. The service very timely delivering your meals. These delicious meals, with fresh veggies & grass fed meats/chicken etc, ready-to-go were key in setting me up to succeed. We've all been there..starving 'till the last cell of your body is filled with energy, getting you home from work to begin cooking your meals. Not gonna happen with me. The results...I cannot believe!!! how my energy levels stayed more constant, the videos sent along w/the service helped me understand how/why my body craved sugar especially with the female cycle and to my surprise on the outside I was melting inches. I added another week, yess Ladies and gentlemen!! I did the Sugar Detox for 21 days. Energy is so consistent now, my skin looks illuminated, less cravings to sugar and I lost body fat from 24% to 19%, dropped a total of 4.5 lbs on the scale and the total inches lost from the 7 sites of caliper skin-fold fat testing was 17%. If you have access to skin fold testing before you start is just a great objective tool otherwise your clothes work just fine. I am not one to write many reviews but I honestly can attest to the quality of this food service delivering clean foods prepared in a very delicious and creative way to keep you hooked on the food. I was apprehensive at first about beginning meal delivery. I wasn't sure the food would be good once reheated. I wasn't sure the variety would keep me interested. I completed the 14 day sugar cleanse detox. They delivered about 6 meals or snacks a day in four deliveries per week. The Good: I lost 12 pounds in 14 days. There was always plenty of food. The staff were incredibly nice. The Bad: On a typical day, one or, at most, two meals or snacks were tasty. The other meals were not appetizing. Ouch. Admittedly, I am a very finicky eater. However, who wants to eat raw broccoli? The Ugly: I had no idea what I was eating a lot and, often, I was not sure after reviewing the menu description. read more

This food is really as good as it gets. It's healthy, organic and delivered to my door. Oh and did I mention that it is vegetarian and vegan friendly. But they also make meat for the meat eaters out there. We ordered Thanksgiving dinner from them and it pretty much rocked. I spent about 6 minutes plating and warming it for everyone. I will never cook Thanksgiving dinner again. I have ordered from other places before and been disappointed, but the food from Wholesome2go truly is unique. There is not much else out there like this in the world. I have been on many eating tours in many places and there are only one or two other restaurants or homes I know I can eat in that I will leave feeling whole and like my energy was raised. This food is great! Great quality, healthy preparation and SO easy! Working with a nutritionist I was very intimidated by getting started on a new plan (because the kitchen is not my favorite room in the house). Having help to get me started was just what I needed. It allowed me to get used to all the elements of my new lifestyle and comfortable with the new portions before striking out on my own in the kitchen. Also, James is SO nice and helpful.
