The Little Jewel of New Orleans is our favorite place for authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine…read more Being so far from home we don't get to enjoy it as often as we would like. Luckily, while out in LA in close proximity to Chinatown, the husband was reminded of Little Jewel. There was no question where we were headed next. We were warmly greeted as soon as we walked in and handed some menus. We were told to take our time, which was needed since everything sounded so good and the husband kept changing his mind on what to order. We finally settled on the Spicy Creole Jambalaya, Craw Mac Deluxe and The Crabster. It all came out hot, fresh and so satisfyingly delicious! The spice level was perfect. Portions were generous. We had initially planned on having beignets but did not have any more room -- even the dessert pocket was full! The atmosphere is very relaxed. They have several tables in the main dining area and the bar section. Orders are placed and picked up at the front counter. Everyone is super friendly. Parking can get a tricky in Chinatown. There are several flat rate lots if you're planning on spending some time. Metered parking is best for short term visits if you can find it -- we paid $4.30 for an hour.

You order from a kiosk and wait for a text saying your food is ready, then pick it up form the counter. This place has alot of ubereats, doordashers, etc come here to pick the food up from the lockers theb deliver it. Ill give this plave a 3.5 because theres no description of what they put in their food. I loved the crab salad, it has alot of mayo. The cu cai salad was raddish with sesame sauce. It was refreshing. For this fish, i got nuc mam and honey wasabi because they dont have these at usual poke places. The nuc mam has peanuts in it. This one is a hit or miss. I was fine with it since it was different. The honey wasabi was really good until about the 5th piece. The taste kinda got boring and it ended up being tooo saucy. The wonton chips it comes with was amazing. I was worried there wouldnt be any because it said it was sold out. I wasnt sure what volcano was as it just said volcano but if i do come again ill probably try that one. I didnt get a picture of their menu items and i felt like someone was waiting to use it. Theres a decent amoutn of parking since most come and go since there is no dining area.

I'm picky AF when it comes to clean eating and he definitely comes through! All the meals are made really well and to my surprise, the seasoning was done really well! The process was definitely different from a regular doctor visit, but honestly, it was a really interesting experience. Since the practitioner doesn't speak English, I translated my symptoms into Chinese using Google Translate and showed him my phone. He checked my tongue and pulse very carefully before writing out a custom herbal tea prescription entirely in Chinese characters. You then take the prescription to the front counter where they prepare the herbs into 5 separate bags. Each bag lasts 2 days, and you boil the herbs for about an hour, strain the tea, and save the rest for the next day. I'm not going to lie -- the tea tastes STRONG. Very earthy, bitter, and honestly like dirt lol. Each boiled tea bag yields 24-32 oz. that needs to be consumed warm, preferably in one sitting after lunch. It was hard to drink, but after finishing my first cycle (10days) I noticed a huge improvement in my symptoms. They explained that most people do 2-3 cycles using the same prescription for full results. I genuinely feel a lot better. I paid $20 for consultation + $85 for the tea. If you use the prescription and 2nd time you only pay for the tea of $85. They take credit cards but there is a $6 transaction fee.

The doctor has that classic, knowledgeable presence, and you can tell there's a lot of experience behind what they do. It's a family-run business, and everyone we interacted with was incredibly kind, patient, and insightful. I really love seeing Asian-owned businesses like this getting more attention and support. The space itself has a cozy, nostalgic feel and honestly gave me Spirited Away vibes in the best way. Overall, it felt welcoming, thoughtful, and rooted in tradition.
