From cool to kitsch, from funny to puzzling, Ida Red's has it all. I will confess to Ida's not being the kind of place I would envision myself shopping at, but that's because I'm old, stodgy and a general curmudgeon. So I was pleasantly surprised and amused with Ida's. Overall, a really neat place with TONS of local craft merchandise. Now that I have a better idea of their offerings, I can plan a trip back, knowing what I'm looking for.

On a Whim carries more up-scale designers. They have clothing, hand bags, shoes, jewelry, baby, and home accents. Also, one of my favorites, On a Whim is one of the few stores in Tulsa to carry Kendra Scott jewelry! The staff is very energetic and always willing to help. It is a very fun store. There is street parking along Peoria, but there is also a large lot behind the store. Again, it is somewhat expensive, but this is the place to find the designer brands. I asked the cashier if they by chance had a coupon because my purchase was greater than $80 she stated that no there was no coupons but that I could check my email I had told her I had accidentally deleted my email this morning but I know that they can utilize some of the coupons to bring down the cost especially when it's a repeat a customer and a customer who has already a loyalty account of which she saw. She kept saying sorry we're just not in Charleston we're in Oklahoma and we don't have here the coupons that you may have at home- i'm sorry but if you are a retail business in a chain add that shouldn't you have the same exact things at all the stores all your employees wear the same uniform why can you follow the same policy? I paid for my purchase and I left I also asked about a pride candle holder that they had and she stated that I could get it online if I wanted to in the case that it breaks and I thanked her and said that was fine but you could tell that she was very standoffish just because I am wearing my pride bracelet wearing my pride shirt and letting people know that I am actually a lesbian. They didn't have my size. I was sent over here to Meadow Gold Mack (MGM) Route 66 Outpost for the t-shirt I wanted to buy. Thanks Julia! This outpost sits in the same lot as the world renowned Meadow Gold neon sign on Route 66 in the heart of Tulsa, OK. Mack (one of the 5 Giants) was created in the 1960's and stands 20 feet tall. He's a very handsome mack! I spent about an hour perusing the store. My eldest daughter didn't join me inside because she was done with stepping out of the car on the rainy day LOL. Anyway, I found very cool variety of merchandises for sale from local vendors within one big space with fun merchandises, unique and interesting clothing, vintage books and stuff, hand-crafted household items and artwork, Tulsa themed tees, and more. So much creativity that captures the spirit of Mother Road Route 66! The gentleman staff behind the counter was friendly, cordial, and helpful.
