As the name implies, this place is a little shack. Not much to look at. They have walk-up and drive thru ordering. There is no dining area, but they do have a couple of raggedy picnic tables just outside the drive thru pick up window. The tables really need to be replaced. Like, really, really. There is tons of parking available in the surrounding strip mall parking lot. The staff there was very friendly and explained everything to me, in detail. She said that they shifted to a smaller menu because the lines were getting too long, cars were lined up in the street. I was like wow, this food must be good. They have quesadillas, burritos, tacos and other Mexican food. No burgers. They were very proud of their birria. They told me that they are not open most days just to do prep of the meat. For the record, they are only open Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. I ordered a cup of their street corn and a birria quesadilla (I mean, I just had to after all the hype). It took about 5 minutes or so to get my food. I had a long drive ahead so, i just set up camp on the picnic tables. My food was fresh hot and delicious. The birria meat lived up to the hype and was packed with flavor. The street corn was very cheesy and tasty as well. My meal was very filling. I had it for lunch and skipped diner. This is a little hole in the wall that is only open on a limited basis. A few days a week and only for a few hours. They have a friendly staff and some good food. read more

You can only dress-up canned corn so much. I don't know if it's the best birria in town (Lindo and Riviera Maya both do a great job and Lindo's is actually goat), but it's damn good and the sauces they serve with it, including the consomé are outstanding. Their hours are a bit odd and irregular so consult their website before going. Also, it's drive-trhough only, so unless you plan to eat at one of the few picnic tables they have outside, be prepared to take it home with you or eat in your car. There is plenty of parking right next to the shack for in-car eating. The saying that "you can't judge a book by it's cover" definitely applies here, but if you're looking for really good Mexican style food, this one definitely belongs on your short list! read more

The staff meets you with a smile at the window to take your order and they are super happy to answer any questions you have. We've been wanting to try their burgers for a few weeks now, but their opening hours are a little unusual so it's been closed whenever we've gone (call ahead!). We finally made it on a Saturday around 11.30am but realised that on Saturdays they only serve one item (and that's till they run out) - Mexican Birria. This is a stew that is normally made with lamb, but here they serve it with beef. You can have it in different styles: over fries, in a cup, as a taco or quesadilla. We decided to try it over fries (also comes with queso, guac, jalapeños). The beef is very tender and resembles pulled meat. The birria reminded me of Indian beef curries that I've had but not as spicy. The combo of the birria over the fries was yummy. The guac in particular was fantastic and I liked that they didn't go crazy with the queso - just the right amount. Overall, this is a yummy dish and worth trying if you've never had it before, but I can't say I loved it. We will definitely be going back to try their burgers which so many people seem to love. I drove by a couple of weeks ago and saw a new tenant in the old shack, and I knew I had to stop in. After hearing a client talking about the food, that sealed it. Nothing fancy, the Wicked Food Shack is just that, a shack serving wickedly good food. To order, you either use the walk-up window or drive-thru. The menu is fairly simple with burgers, hot dogs, tenderloin, fries, tacos, burritos, esquite (Mexican corn in a cup, I got to know it as elotes in Texas), and other goodies. The menu is ever expanding - look for some dessert items in the future. I had the stuffed burger, which comes with fresh cut fries. Cheddar cheese and chopped bacon are stuffed inside a hamburger patty and then cooked to perfection. Normally I don't order bacon on a burger because I don't get a good bite on a slice of bacon due to my weird uneven teeth. With the chopped bacon stuffed in the patty, I got all the bacon taste in each bite. No need for condiments on this burger, the juices do it all. The thick fries are freshly cut, and the interior steams while in the fryer. The exterior is crispy while fluffy on the inside. I also had the chili cheese fries. The same fresh cut fries are slathered with cheese sauce and house made chili. Although not as spicy as I prefer, this chili will fit in well with the local palate. These fries would be a great snack when it's 10 degrees out. The Wicked Food Shack is going into my lunch and dinner rotation, if just for the burgers and fries. Ok, so I've driven by this place so many times and never considered it. Don't be like me, stop and check it out! When I heard that they have California burritos on their menu, I had to get one. I was not disappointed! The burrito had a generous amount of meat (Pastor for me), rice, lettuce, pico, guacamole, and French Fries! The taste was amazing, but it was wrapped a little sloppily. My teenagers enjoyed their nachos supreme, and breaded tenderloin. We called our order ahead of time, and it was ready in 15 minutes. On the surface, Wicked Food Shack looks very missable, I mean... hand written menu, total staff is two guys, location is a tiny building in parking lot... but boy can appearances be deceiving. The main event here is the burgers. The Wicked Burger boasts a really tasty hamburger patty, pulled pork and bacon. I know, right? The fries were tasty and plentiful.
