All of the vendors had a similar "artsy/hippie vibe" which i loved. It felt like an event more for adults than many farms that make them loud and fun for kids. We stopped by this adorable family owned farm on a mini getaway to New England in search of some…read morefall weather which wasn't happened back home yet. We set out to pick fresh floral stems and pumpkins. We were greeted with so much more....The sweet playful house pup who immediately brought us an apple for a game (or 25) of catch. He made this whole experience so much sweeter for my girls! We had a blast chasing him around the gorgeous rows of vibrant flowers and filled apple trees. We could've stayed for hours playing with him alone!! We purchased mini apple cider donuts the girls gobbled down in two seconds flat. They LOVED these! $4 for a bag of a dozen, fresh and hot off the press sugary, perfectly snack sized donuts. They also offer grass fed beef, pork and chicken. We met the owner who kindly poured us samples of their delicious fresh, raw cider and showed us the original mill which is housed in their awesome, simplistic barn. (If you're traveling, remember to bring a cooler with ice as the cider is unpasteurized.) She also suggested I purchase a "Long Island Cheese pumpkin" which I had never heard of before! Have you?! She gave me instructions on how to bake it and make what she said will be the best pumpkin pie ever! (I'll keep you posted). She also gave me some local suggestions on things to do (Old Sturbridge Village, Mass) which we did and had a fantastic time! Thank you!! Prices we thought were very fair and it feels so good supporting small, hardworking business owners. This farm is on the smaller size, but it's absolutely full of that unmistakable pure New England charm and quality goods! We would come back here in a heartbeat and had a VERY memorable, awesome first trip! If you're in the area or maybe looking for a weekend escape, this fabulous farm is located in a quaint town that offers so much, yet is so far away from it all. I loved how many varieties of heirloom tomatoes they had. It was honestly so hard to chose, there were so many awesome options. I loved their little blurb about what each tomato was like. They had a large variety of annuals and perennials as well, the pricing is pretty comparable to other nurseries, probably a touch higher. The employees are friendly and there is usually always someone around to help!

We opted for the smaller 1-peck bag for $25-28 (I forget). Isn't 1-peck supposed to be ~10 lbs or does it go by the # of apples? There's a map posted by apple type, and the aisles have signs at the end that say which apple type they are. We went on the 1-mile long trail that takes you around the orchard and back to the driveway-road you drove on to get to the parking lot. Don't venture off of the trail as parts are on private property, so don't be loud and obnoxious. I don't know where the cost-savings are as the apples for sale in stores cost less per pound. There were a few picnic tables there to sit at, but it seems the price is more so for the experience with the other half, kids, etc.

This is a review for their CSA only. This was by far the worst CSA I have ever participated in. For…read morebackground I have a degree in sustainable agriculture and worked on farms including ones that offer CSAs for many years. If I had known that approximately a 3rd of the each weeks offerings were pick your own I would not have signed up. Nothing against this model but each week I had to rush over from work without a lot of extra time. I often had to forgo the pick your own which made the overall value of the CSA quite low for those weeks. This is my issue not Casey Farm's but I want other folks to be aware that PYO is a major part of their CSA. That aside the assortment was fairly subpar (yes I am aware they had a lot issues with pests so I'm being lenient on this point) and pick up in the barn was often unorganized with not enough scales or bag points to move through quickly. The prepicked veggies were consistently filthy, like fully covered in dirt. None of the CSAs I worked for would have allowed this. A lot of "seconds" quality veggies in the main pick up area as well. I have no problem with veggies that need to be used quickly or have cosmetic blemishes but for example I saw zucchini that was as hard and woody as a winter squash. Wildly unacceptable as it was inedible. Until the end of the season there was very little information about the pick your own fields. There was often little to no wayfinding information both in the barn or in the fields. Also very little educational information on how to pick these items. For things like ground cherry or tomatillos this is important as many folks might not be aware of what these items look like when ripe. Most folks in the field had to help each other find the right rows and provide picking advice. For example a poor fellow customer was picking very tough old snap peas because the green bean fields weren't marked and she was in the wrong place. The folks in the barn provided very little help in this regard. I have a feeling I wasn't the only person to experience frustration with this as around august they finally starting adding some (although still minimal) instructions in the barn. I fully understand a CSA is meant to support a farm in boom and bust but knowing that Casey Farm is bolstered by Historic New England and their popular children's camp programs I think there are a lot of local farms who deserve financial support over Casey. Overall the CSA felt lazy, disorganized and frankly a rip off. I continually felt like there was very little love for the produce they grew and provided. 0/5 stars would not recommend.

They have fresh produce, homemade jams, pies, dips, sauces etc etc. We get 5 bundles of firewood for $20 and over the summer would drive here to get their corn on the cob. This was the best corn we found all season. I recently made two big batches of corn chowder and man, was it delicious.
