A few items looked like they had started to go bad, but overall the selection was interesting. When they're not staffed, they use an honor system with prices listed on a board and a cash box, and they also accept Venmo. The prices were reasonable for a farm stand, and I like supporting local farmers whenever I can. I've seen they do CSA here, and I may try it out this year.

One factor to consider is pickup day and location and this one is perfect for me. It's every Thursday afternoon at the new Farm Fresh RI building on Sims Street in Providence. It's right around the corner from my office so I can stop on my way home. It's only been two weeks and I'm already thrilled. Such variety and quality!! Lots of green this early in the season. So far I've had rainbow chard, curly kale, garlic scapes, scallions, frisee lettuce, radishes, tiny salad turnips, sugar snap peas, fennel with a giant top of fronds. They give you an email heads up about some of the products a few days in advance with suggestions for using what might be unfamiliar produce. Can't wait for week 3!

I support local farms, and paid 100% more for a fresh product, but instead was delivered frozen. Lying to customers is not really a good business practice. I will never shop this farm again, and recommend you stay away as well.

Always good food and laughs when I pick up my weekly half share. And always great company to learn from and share recipes with. Every Tuesday in the summer and fall I pick up a random assortment of fruits and veggies at their West Side home, conveniently located. I look forward to the classics like lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, basil, the "I usually walk by that in the grocery store" items like chard and turnips, and the "I've never seen or eaten that before!" items like garlic scape and kholrabi. And they have eggs to buy, too! The best part is that I never feel stupid asking "what is this?" or "what is the simplest way to cook this?" I love the CSA because it encourages me to experiment in the kitchen and eat many things that I wouldn't otherwise buy at a farmer's market. It's fun, supportive, great community, and makes food an adventure. The farm itself, now in Johnston at the historic Mathewson Farm, is perfectly picturesque. Chickens wander around. The old barn and farm house are charmingly old school in their architecture and wear. As a CSA member, you can choose to pick up your weekly harvest in Johnston or on the West Side of Providence. They make it really convenient, and have a fun blog, too! Matt and Catherine also welcome CSA members to the farm to participate in the farming, whether picking or weeding. It's an educational experience, too. If you're not into CSAs, you're probably already a fan of Red Planet Farm - they supply to Chez Pascal, La Laiterie, Local 121, New Rivers, and Nick's On Broadway, as well as co-ops like Little City Growers and Urban Greens. We walked through the petting zoo, there was horses, sheep, goats, roosters, turkeys, pigs, cows, the kids got a kick out of it. We each got a small pumpkin to paint or take home which the kids really enjoyed. They offered horse drawn rides, tractor rides, face painting, story time with mother goose & a corn maze (which was not much of a maze). It is really perfect for kids 2-10. The store offers a selection of breads, pies, jams and produce. They sell ice cream, and had cider donuts available and outside they have a small shack that sells hot dogs, chips, etc. Overall we spent about 2 hours here and really enjoyed it!

Copicut Farms makes home deliveries and during the Covid-19 pandemic this service is all the more appreciated. I put in my order on a Monday afternoon and by Wednesday mid-morning, my meats had been delivered to my door in a nicely packed cooler. At this point, I think the farm is just about sold out of whatever they had to sell. Needless to say, the home delivery option has been more popular than ever. My order which arrived last week seemed to be one of the last as a quick view of their website shows that they are currently sold out of most everything. But last week I was able to buy several one pound packages of ground beef, as well as ground pork, Italian sausage, and a whole chicken. While we are eating less meat in general even pre-Covid, when we do eat meat, it is only from local farm sources like this. No factory-farmed meat ever in this house. People who take humane and good care of their animals and respect the sacrifice inherent in the death of the animal for food, are the farmers we want to support. Thank you Copicut Farms for everything you do, for your delivery service, for your farm shares and for your ethic.

I loved how many varieties of heirloom tomatoes they had. It was honestly so hard to chose, there were so many awesome options. I loved their little blurb about what each tomato was like. They had a large variety of annuals and perennials as well, the pricing is pretty comparable to other nurseries, probably a touch higher. The employees are friendly and there is usually always someone around to help!
