Kids love a good visit here. Probably only a 20 minute or half hour walk through at most, unless you are lucky enough to meet a student working the farm. Very friendly and happy to talk about the animals and the work they do there. Very good with kids, as well. Overall, if you are in the area, worth the quick visit. It's such a refresher for yourself, kids, whoever to pause life once in a while and enjoy little treasures like this one. Peckham Farm allows the space to freely roam around the grounds, observing the beautiful animals, watching their equal curiosity, and take in the beautiful surrounding scenery.

Not surprisingly, the wine bottles were on the more expensive side but were good. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They told us to wonder about the estate and sit wherever we like and they would find us with the wine and glasses and that's exactly what they did. The staff also opened up one of the large window doors so we can have the perfect hybrid of inside and outside. We tried a couple of their flatbreads and they were tasty and paired well with the wine. This establishment has hotel rooms upstairs and is often used for events, including weddings. Overall, it's a beautiful vineyard that you can lounge in for many hours. Staff said it gets very busy on the weekends but on a Monday there was so much room and serenity.

Yesterday I was lunching with a few friends and shepherds run came up and we decided to check it out. The setting was spectacular, the manor was surrounded by beautiful gardens. I felt I was in the cotswolds. There was a wedding currently happening so walking in we weren't sure if it was closed for the event. A very sweet staff member directed us to the bar. There we were given menus and told me could sit anywhere. We found a lovely room that looks as though it was once the receiving room. We enjoyed several glasses of rose ( delicious) and chatted with other guests. The staff were all very nice and we all enjoyed a wonderful afternoon. We will be coming back September 13 with husbands and look forward to it. Bravo!!

A very Rhode island…read morefestival Johnny Cakes have been around for a while, in fact most historians say they have been around in one form or another for centuries. Even though many places on the east coast have Johnny Cakes, Rhode island is traditionally given as the place where they originated or at least became popular. So what better place than Rhode Island to have a Johnny Cake Festival Just fried corn meal with some salt, hot water and perhaps some sugar, it is amazing how many different types have showed up. Lots of subtle differences and of course everyone claims theirs are the best. Actually the festival was a lot more than just Johnny Cakes and in the whole festival I only saw one vendor actually selling Johnny Cakes. The lines were so long that we didn't even bother and stuck with the lobster rolls, clam chowdah, clam cakes and kettle corn. So much food around that there was no way you were going hungry even without the Johnny Cakes. Some cool critters like sheep, goats and alpacas were around and lots of skillful artists spinning, carving, wefting, blacksmithing, weaving, and painting. A whole bunch of very talented and fascinating folks still knowledgeable about some anachronistic arts. Some great music and several environmental groups were around to entertain and of course lots of traditional and cool food and crafts. The location was lovely with a pleasant pond and several canals and waterfalls. The parking wasn't bad because they wasn't any. Everyone parked at the old fairground three miles away and were shuttled in by old school buses. Actually made it less chaotic. A cool festival and place to learn about New England arts, crafts, history and of course food. It was kind of curious that there weren't more Johnny Cakes. Lots of cool & eclectic vendors mostly skewered towards the uniquness of the Ocean State. Lots of food & Johnny Cakes too but I didn't have any. Two of my local favorites had a presence there: Grey Sail & Dave's Coffee. There was also live music. I got to sample some pumpkin flavored whiskey from Sons of Libtery that made me want more. I'd drink whiskey but my wife says I turn into a different person so I'll wait for them to release their Dave's Coffee syrup flavored vodka! The only drawback is that transportation to get to the actual festival. Even though you have to take a cramped school bus to get there it's definitely worth & I'll be taking my family for years to come.

At the time, not as many flowers were in bloom as I had hoped to see, so much of the garden looked very green and it was sometimes tricky to tell if I had already walked through a section. That said, the scenery was still beautiful, and I can only imagine how stunning it must look when everything is fully bloomed. Sakonnet itself is such a unique place a secret garden carved into coastal fields, designed to feel like an intimate, winding cottage garden with paths that lead you to unexpected spaces. Knowing the history and the care that's gone into creating it over decades makes me appreciate it even more. I'd definitely love to come back later in the season to see it in full bloom

My friend and I made reservations for the first time entry time on Saturday, June 21, 2025. The website was easy to use to make the reservations. Since I drove us there, we chose the Garden Visit (Car, driver, and optional passengers) + 1 additional passenger option. The parking spot with driver is $25.00 and the additional passenger was $20.00. The other option is Garden Visit for walkers (foot) and bikers that is $20.00. Tickets are nonrefundable once purchased. We arrived a few minutes before 9:30am and parked in one of the numbered parking spots provided in the designated area adjacent to the garden. Then, we found the garden entrance and checked in with the staff member. The staff member instructed us where to start and then we started to explore the labyrinth of plants. There were so many plants, hedges, and a big meadow. It was really beautiful, but I wish there was a map or list of the different plants we were looking at. The red mughal pavilion was falling apart and blocked off. My friend and I spent about an hour exploring the garden. The weather was gorgeous, not a cloud in the sky. You can definitely tell the caretakers really take a good care of the lands. At the end before leaving to the parking lot, a friendly pony greeted us and there was a table of plants for sale.

You can do a tasting, order a bottle, and bring your own food to set up on the patio, lawn or in the stable for a picnic. Some days there is a food truck onsite as well. Depending on the vintage year, my favorite wine tends to change. This year, I really liked the Vidal Blanc. It was aromatic and crisp, perfectly refreshing for a warm day. At times on the weekends, they will have live music, so it's a great place to hang out with friends. Also, for my fellow dog moms, our furry babies are allowed here (human babies as well!).
