Dr. Lorenson attended a same day house call to put my Lhasa apso down that I had for 15.5 years. She was so compassionate and explained everything from start to finish. I wish I could repay her in some way for making the experience as special as it could be. During a huge Covid surge my entire family was able to say goodbye to our loving Jeter in the comfort of his own home. I can never thank you enough for your compassionate care. You are one special human! The amount of time and thought that went into the presentation of his paw prints and clay print is mind blowing. This vet clinic is so kind! We were moving and realized we needed an urgent vet appointment before we could travel with our cat. Despite being very busy, they made room in their schedule and squeezed us in. The dr was so great with our cat, very kind and gentle. They even printed off the info I needed to travel. Absolute worst customer service! Although we love Dr. Lorensen and have been a customer for about 8 year, after today's experience, I will no longer be bringing my 2 dogs, 2 cats and foster dogs to Wickford Vet Clinic. For 2 days I have been trying to get my sick dog seen and have been turned away as they are unable to find time in their schedule. They want me to "call back" yet again on Monday, but still can't guarantee an appointment. About 8 years, 4 pets and a few foster dogs, yet they still couldn't find time to accommodate my sick dog. Absolutely disgusted, disheartened, saddened and upset as we did really like this vet and do love Dr. Lorensen. But, if this is how they treat loyal customers, I no longer trust them w my animals well-being. read more

Recently, we had to bring our sweet old dog to be put down. It was such a difficult thing to do. We were devastated but Kate the vet assistant was amazing! She was so kind and compassionate and she made sure Dixie was comfortable. She even brought her a chicken sandwich and beef stew before the procedure. She helped us throughout the whole ordeal and we are so grateful for it. read more

I followed Dr. Saslaw since 1997 when she brought my bunny back from certain death. Not the same anymore. I drive 22 miles to go here and I'm treated like crap. 2 years ago I had a prescription for my Tobie dog and had a time to go there. I found out they were closed and didn't even bother to call me so I drove 44 miles for nothing. Two weeks ago I had a presumed appointment for an echocardiogram for Tobie. I had a 1 PM appointment and I knew I had to wait but nobody could tell me when the tech was going to show up. At 3:30 I gave up and left. I called 2 other vets and got promised that the longest I would have to wait is 1 hour. Worse than that, the receptionist was so busy answering the same questions OVER and OVER again from one call for at least ten minutes before she acknowledged me...you know the person there in person. Another 44 miles for nothing like gas is so freaking cheap. Old Boomer and Old dog. Nobody wants us anymore. read more

This entire organization is wonderful and even better served with their new facility. Dr. Lorenson in particular is just phenomenal. She was so kind when putting down my two childhood pets (separately) at home euthanizations. She has treated all of my pets as if they were members of her own family. Recently with my new kitten she spent at least 20 minutes just playing with him. Since it was his first visit, she was careful and calm. I could not believe that she and the assistant were so patient, bribing him with treats to get on the scale to gain his trust rather than just grabbing him. It significantly increased his mood and has kept the vet from being a stressful experience. Appointments are easy to get and they have flexible hours. Additionally, I have never had to wait long to be seen which can be a blessing with a stressed animal in a loud waiting room. I am forever grateful to this organization! read more

I've been going to this clinic for over 20 yrs., first when it was Dr Weitsma's, and then I would go to see Dr. Saslaw. I have birds and rabbits. Dr. Weitsma was one of my personal favorites. Dr. Saslaw, I guess, competent enough but lacking in the bedside manner department. Last time I saw her for an appointment, last year(?) she seemed angry that I'd been to another vet. She said, "how come you didn't go to ....?" (in a snotty way). Bird appointments are not easy to come by on short notice, and that seems to be when they're most important, so when I have a situation, I generally call 3 or 4 vets to see who has the earliest available appointment. I discovered a lump on the back of one of my cockatiels yesterday. I called WV this morning. They said they had a 4:00 and a 4:45 available. I said that 4:45 would be perfect because I work on Rte 2 until 4:00, so I could take bird to work and come by after. I even told Becky my whole schedule...not that she cared. Arrived at 4:45 today. Becky said that my appointment was for 4:00. She went in the back to tell Saslaw that I was there. Becky came back out and said Saslaw can see me but it's a $40 "urgent care surcharge" because I didn't make my 4:00 appointment. I said that I specifically made the 4:45 appointment, and basically planned my whole day around it. (Including bringing my bird to work at Roberts Music where the owners were kind enough to allow this!). She said, "the doctor can see your bird even though you came at the wrong time". I said No thank you and I'll never be back. Dr. Saslaw knows exactly who I am. She doesn't like me because she's not my first choice of vets. I have 9 birds and 3 rabbits, so I'm a good customer to have. Did she really need the extra $40??? She wasn't busy with anyone else. She is petty and greedy. I will go on Saturday to see Dr. Bird at Veterinary Services of Wickford....a better vet, and a considerably better person. Btw, when I called back to talk to Becky about what happened, she knew she made the mistake in scheduling... but better to make me look stupid than admit the mistake. read more

Thank you for the quality service! The vet was very knowledgeable and took the time to answer all of our questions. I appreciated the kindness of the staff in general. The receptionist even gave us a rebate for our prescription. We recently switched vets and will definitely be bringing our baby here from now on as the service is far superior. read more

we put trust into this vet clinic and they completely betrayed us. * Our morning with the Wickford Veterinary Clinic was so bad... Our poor baby Bentley is traumatized again.... * Wickford vet clinic took my dog Bentley into the backroom and wouldn't let me follow to clip his nails. he has extremely high anxiety and has been traumatized in the past by this. the technicians are FULLY AWARE of this and it should have been in the notes from previous visits, which they claimed they never wrote down. * Long story short, they gave him back to me SOAKED in pee... his harness, leash and everything. * They also FAILED TO DISCLOSE THAT THEY CLIPPED MY DOGS NAIL TOO SHORT and he was bleeding!!! the front and the back! almost all his back nails are short enough that they were bleeding, you can tell... that must have been so painful for him to go through. WE ASKED THEM NOT TO CUT THE BACK NAILS! ONLY THE FRONT!!! and we see that all the back are cut so short and very red..... I noticed this in my car at first. they used the yellow powder on him to try and stop the bleeding. this is excruciatingly painful for any animal!!! and now he is more traumatized than before he went in. Our hearts are hurting for Bentley to go through this trauma... * This was negligence and they were nothing but condescending to us on the phone. The owner tried saying that they were cut to an appropriate length, WITHOUT EVEN SEEING THEM! we loved and trusted this company, and they let us and Bentley down. BEFORE this happened... we would recommend this place to everyone. NOT RECOMMENDED! NOT ACCOMMODATING TO YOUR PETS! BEWARE! read more

There appointments are very timely we have had positive experiences every time we bring our dog in. My dog needed a check up, was over due on her shots and they took care of it right away without charging me an arm and a leg. I was referred to this vet by a coworker whose dog ate socks frequently lol and the staff here were available during closed hours during this time which i always want to here. my pup is 12 years old and we come here for our annual check ups. they have 3 rotating vets which are all great as well as the vet techs! I think my dog wants to go to the vet everytime we get in the car now! She had an eye ulcer (we later found out) and i was unable to get off of work so my fiance dropped her off in the morning and i asked if i can pick her up after work and they were able to work with us so that she can be seen. They closed at 6pm and when i got there she was hanging out on the lap of the receptionist! which im sure she loved all of the attention she was getting. 2 revisits later and a medicine adjustment she is back to normal and loving all the treats she got during her vet visits! Very happy I found a vet i like and a staff that loves my dog and treat her so well! Rechecks are $39, and they are fairly easy to get an appointment specifically when there is a specific issue. read more

We have been going to Wickford Vet Clinic since 1985. Dr Pepin saved a stray (they weren't rescue dogs back then) we adopted that had a very serious case of heart worm. Dr Wietsma took care of oxide dog and two cats. Dr Rodehorst is taking care of our current German Shepherd. Regardless of which Dr. saw our pets, In the 30 years we have being customers we have always received the most reliable, accommodating, friendly and compassionate care from the Doctors and staff. They truly recognize that your pet is a cherished member of your family. I would recommend them to new pet owners as well as folks who are looking for a new veterinarian service. read more

We have been bringing our dogs and cat to Wickford Clinic for almost 10 years. The quality of care is exceptional. The intelligence of the practitioners, the care of the entire staff and the sound advice make this the best practice for large dogs that we have experienced in over 40 years of having large dogs in our home. Dr. Rodehorst goes the extra mile through the good times and the tough times of living with large dogs. I was in the process of recommending the practice to a friend with a sick large dog and noticed the last review which prompted my posting this review. Our experience with four large dogs is that the Clinic is very good value and like any medical issue you should be prepared to discuss the pros and cons of various treatment options. Our Vet recommended this clinic because they did house calls. My 10 yr old baby, Chiquita, just couldn't do it any more. Her frail body had given up and we knew it was time to set her free. I called this clinic in the morning and explained my situation. They spoke with the Doctor and immediately called me back. It was set, 7:30pm my baby was going home. The Doctor walked into my home with such a sense of peace. She gently calmed an old nervous girl with her touch. It was beautiful. She had patience with all of our questions and more patience with my Chiquita. She made her passing so peaceful and amazing. She really honestly cared. We were so blessed to have had this experience in the comfort of our own home and we can never repay her the way she deserves but she truly was an angel helping our angel find her way home.. I can't say enough about how happy I have been with the quality of care I have received from Dr. Lorenson and her staff. My dog Sam had surgery at her office this past spring to remove a tumor under his right paw. When we brought Sam in he could barely place weight on that leg and now he has mobility that I haven't seen in him in at least 3 years. We have had bad experiences with other veterinarians, often feeling like we were being charged for unnecessary tests, but this is not the case at this office. It has the charm of a small town clinic while providing the utmost in professional care - definitely give them a try! read more

I brought my dog Sam to Dr. Lorenson for a tumor under his right paw this past spring and we were extremely pleased with the care provided by Christina and her entire staff. I have had bad experiences with other veterinary offices, often feeling that tests were done unnecessarily, but this was not the case here. Sam's surgery was a huge success and he now has a much better quality of life - when we brought him in he could barely place weight on his paw and has completely recovered. 2 days ago, i brought my 2 year old dwarf lionhead rabbit to get spayed and teeth extractions and they wre supposed to call me when we could pick her up. later they called me and said that the surgery and extractions went perfectly fine, but when it was time to wake up, she took longer than usual and suddenly she stopped breathing. they did the breathing for her for 30 min but then her heart stopped beating and she died. My whole family was devastated, she was the sweetest fluffiest bunny we've had. The vets seemed completely insensitive and said they didnt know why she didnt wake up. I was furious because they just acted like it was just another day at the vet. Now her mother bun (already spayed) is at home is all alone and depressed and we're thinking of looking for a new companion read more
