I really can not say enough about the folks over at Coventry Animal Hospital. The amount of knowledge and experience that team holds is truly unmatched. I am so lucky to of found them to take care of my kitty cats.

A once Beautiful and lively girl

On October 2nd 2024, I brought my very healthy 3 yr old English cream to Coventry animal hospital to be spayed. Previous visits concluded great health and perfect blood work. She died hours later at home. I was basically told that shit happens. "Sometimes people get knee surgery and die" . "Her death may not be related to the surgery". What a weird coincidence that she dropped dead hours after being in Their care. I was told about possible complications after the fact. I was never informed of the possible risks related to age and size previous to the surgery; only after she died. They reimbursed me but were still going to charge me for her flea and tick prevention. I was reimbursed for the full amount after asking. Previous, non surgical, visits were pleasant enough. *this is my very first yelp review, about anything*

So I'm going to try to make this short. On Jan 27 2023. I took both my dogs to Coventry animal hospital for their wellness visit.$450.00 later yes $450 I go home and check my mail and they sent me a post card stating that one of my dogs needed a rabies shot.So I called back and the person I talk to oh phone said they don't give all his shots at once .But the 7 years I have been going there they have. So calling bullshit .Made an appointment for today and on top of the $450.00 it cost me another $202.00 so in the last 2 months I have paid the vet $652.00 for a wellness visit.Might sound crazy but How many people do they do this too? It's not the money it's more of the point of them boneing people

    Spay with Liver Biopsy

In January, 2023, I rescued two puppies who needed to be spayed, and my regular vet was booked for several months. Coventry Animal Hospital/Salt Ponds Animal Hospital was recommended to me, so I brought my new puppies for pre-surgery screening and they did blood tests where Dr Resnick told me that liver enzymes were mildly elevated in both pups, which I know from past experiences is not a big deal. They recommended a number of different tests to precisely diagnose the issue, and after hearing a long list of options from them, I opted for the puppy with the higher values to have a liver biopsy performed at the time of her spay, which they recommended as the option with the best chance of precisely diagnosing the issue causing the liver enzymes to be mildly elevated. In Dr Resnick's notes, she expresses her frustration that I did not agree to a list of several diagnostic tests that could have also been done. In retaliation for not allowing her to subject my puppy to her series of tests, she crafted her chart notes in a way that was clearly intended to thoroughly sabotage the chance of my puppy from receiving insurance coverage for most systems of the body by creating a broad range of pre-existing conditions which my puppy will be excluded from coverage from for her lifetime. Never before this have I seen a pet's medical record that was written in a vindictive way that was clearly intended to cause harm. Even with the biopsy results, Dr Levy did not provide a diagnosis or tell anything meaningful, other than to say that it was "nothing worrisome". With the damage that Dr Resnick had already caused by using alarmist language in her charting notes, his meaningless diagnosis after the biopsy was did nothing to undo the damage that Dr Resnick had caused. It seems extremely cruel that they subjected my puppy to this awfully painful procedure when they must have known that Levy's weak diagnosis would never mitigate the harm that Dr. Resnick had already caused. The puppy who had the biopsy had an incision that was approximately six inches longer than the puppy who was only spayed (see photos). Had I known that Dr Levy's diagnosis would be so lacking in information, I would have never agreed to put my puppy through that invasive and painful ordeal, especially when it was clear that Dr Resnick's purpose was to sell diagnostic tests, and when she did not meet her goal, she fabricated pre-existing conditions to deliberately sabotage my puppy's health insurance. There were several problems with my dog's charts. Firstly, the elevated liver values (ALT) that they stated as the reason for the biopsy were not in the bloodwork report. In addition to missing information, there were inaccuracies and redundancies in the lab report. Dr Levy admitted that he frequently has problems with his lab, and when I called the office, they produced a lab report with different information. I voiced my concerns about my experience with his practice to Dr. Levy as he is one of the owners, and he told me that he understood my concerns, but that he would not do anything differently. I requested that my pet's records not be sent to anyone but myself, and they sent these damaging records directly to the pet's insurance company after I told them not to send them anywhere except to me. My interactions with reception staff and doctors were pleasant and professional, but while reading my pet's records, it was very clear that they have bad intentions. I have never experienced a veterinary practice that advocates so strongly against pets having best possible outcomes. I urge anyone whose pet has been treated by Coventry Animal Hospital or Salt Ponds to read all of your pet's records and have a different veterinarian review any lab work that was performed and all chart notes/records for errors and inaccuracies. If what happened to my pets is typical of how they run their practices, they have caused harm to other family's pets as well. I have had pets for decades and have dealt with many veterinarians over the years, and this is the first time I have experienced veterinarians who so clearly are in it for the money, not because they love animals.

I am so thankful to Coventry Animal Hospital! My cat was diagnosed with Pyometra and after being quoted almost $4,000 dollars somewhere else, I called here and they took her in the same day! Dr. Levy graciously offered to do the surgery during his lunch break as he was the only one there on a Saturday and it was 1/4 of the cost that was quoted. I am so happy that I brought my baby here. They're fantastic!! The Staff is so nice and helpful and now my baby is healthy and back home with us after a life threatening diagnosis.

My chocolate Labrador, Rosie-Roo, is a new patient at Coventry Animal Hospital. I decided to take her here for her surgery to get spayed, and, as all the 5-star reviews can attest, I made a good decision! The veterinary clinic I used previously had given me a quote to spay my dog, and there were several 'add-on' charges. So, I used the Yelp app to get estimates from other veterinarians, and Coventry Animal Hospital responded quickly and professionally. Their estimate was considerably less expensive than my previous vet, and I especially liked that the estimate included everything: the surgery, anesthesia, medication, e-collar and suture removal. More importantly, though, the quality of care at Coventry Animal Hospital was excellent, so I decided to have them spay my dog. About a month before the surgery, I brought my dog in for a pre-surgical exam, where the veterinarian who examined my dog deemed her healthy (Rosie is 2 years old). The vet recommended blood work, but did not push it. I was nervous about getting my dog spayed, but the vet assured me that it is a fairly routine procedure, and eased my worries. About two weeks ago, the day of Rosie's surgery arrived, and I dropped her off around 8 a.m. The veterinarian who performed her surgery called me around 11 a.m. and said the procedure went well, and that I could pick my dog up that afternoon. I was given a list of post-surgical care, and a vet tech even helped me get Rosie into the car. My dog's incision healed very well, and as promised, she was back to her usual personality by the next day. Rosie had to wear a cone, which was a bit awkward, but she adapted to it. Ten days after the surgery, we returned (on a Sunday, which was super-convenient!) to get her sutures removed, at no additional cost, and Rosie was finally free of the cone! All the staff we encountered were very friendly, and super nice to my dog. It's a good sign when you walk up to your veterinarian's building, and your dog drags you because she's excited to go IN. My dog's surgery went very smoothly, and the whole process was exactly as described. Rosie-Roo now has a new veterinarian!

My mom's and my childhood dog,Ronde passed away at the beautiful age of 18. He was my mom's best friend for a long time. Dogs truly are God's gift. Coventry animal hospital helped my mom through the process of him passing over and truly made it easier. They even sent her a handwritten card with his ashes as well as a copy of his paw prints which blew her away. Thank you so much for doing what you do and making my mom smile.

My bulldog had a loose tooth and was drooling excessively. I called every single vet in a 20 mile radius and they all simply told me sorry no appointments till later in the week. I couldn't even get any advice on how to help her while we waitedWhen I called here they were the only ones to even offer to put me on a cancellation list, as futile as that might be. Then they offered to just chat with the doctor and see if they could get us some advice or maybe even make something happen. Honestly, that's all I needed to be writing this review and to switch to them going forward. Even if it was just to appease me, I appreciated the effort. However they went above and beyond and did squeeze her in, and every person that spoke to me was so kind, and they gave her some pain meds until they could fix her teeth in a couple of days. Everything was explained to me thoroughly and they clearly cared about my dogs comfort. To top it all off their price was more than fair and I'm so incredibly grateful. This all happened during this crazy pandemic so with everything already so stressful, it was incredible to see a place going above and beyond for my chubby wrinkly critter. For some of us our pets are our babies and I just can't say enough how important these gestures are at a time like this. Bra-freakin-vo!

This is in response to "Business Manager Abby K's" response to my review on 5/20/26. Facts: We were trying to not name specific names in my initial review on 5/20/26 to protect the honest employees and give confidentiality. 1. Dr, Sweet said an infection could not have occurred so quickly during their care. Basically impossible as it takes more time for an infection to develop. Dr. Sweet was extremely kind and truthful. We appreciate his transparency to this day. 2. Dr. Sweet did not do the original surgery, but did the incision revision (2nd surgery) and said the reason the initial surgery/incision opened up was because instead of doing internal and external stitches from the initial surgery they only did internal stitches and external glue, which he said was not the proper method as the glue couldn't hold the incision closed because the incision was too big. 3. Ocean State Veterinary Specialists would never provide us with of any documentation of lab results showing any infection that supposedly occurred under their care, but they stated he had a very generic infection, which we believe was attempt to cover their mistake, as Dr. Sweet stated an infection couldn't have developed so quickly. 4. We've consulted with other experienced Vets since this matter, with all relevant information/photos/etc provided to them and they all confirm that our dog was mishandled. We very much appreciate Dr, Sweet for fixing our dog and his transparency. He's a very honest and qualified surgeon. Unfortunately the hospital Dr Sweet works for is not. While we promptly paid the collection account in full as soon as it was posted, we will be seeking most importantly changes and also damages through legal channels regarding this matter. We are not looking for any monetary reward besides our lost time and expenses, but rather aiming for this institution to improve itself, not blame the public, admit when they've made a mistake and not defraud the public at the same time. It will cost us more unnecessary expense to see this through, but with most of our experience on camera in their own hospital with this event and just the moral aspect of doing the right thing for pets we will incur this expense on behalf of others that perhaps cannot afford it and more importantly, all our pets. Please go somewhere else in the meantime for the safely of your pet and research past court cases against this company. If you feel this response is in unfounded, I welcome direct contact for any questions.
