We have been contracted with Wickstrom for a number of years. They regularly maintain our HVAC system and installed a new system in 2025. Their price was in line with other companies so we went with them. Today we had a routine maintenance and found the technician, Levi, to be knowledge, professional and thorough. We find Wickstroms tends to want to up-sale with each visit. We are seniors on fixed income so we consider what they are recommending but most often do not purchase extras, It is our policy to get a second opinion & bids to compare. My posting for Wickstrom Plumbing review is dated November 8th 2022. Wickstrom Plumbing's recent reply is dated April 22 2026. Using simple math that is over 3 years & several months later. The response reads like my 3 year old situation is still current somehow . Very odd. Perhaps this explains my inability to schedule a quick repair with Wickstom when the new water heater controller failed and left me days with no hot water. I then called perfect plumbing and they understood my No Hot Water Problem. They worked to repair it quickly. Perfect plumbing and heating went on to replace my furnace and air conditioner the summer of 2023. They added (2) mini splits to my second level for extreme summer cooling. They are my go to Plumbing and Heating Company now. read more

I am writing this to warn others, especially families with elderly loved ones. Wickstrom has repeatedly taken advantage of my 84-year-old mother over the past couple of years. Each time they came for an inspection, they would "find" something wrong and pressure her into signing a contract on the spot, insisting the work was immediately necessary. We now realize many of these issues were exaggerated or completely unnecessary. The most recent incident was the final straw. Her 7 year old furnace had a single part that stopped working. Wickstrom told her the entire furnace needed to be replaced for $12,000, claiming that replacing the one part would be more expensive and that the replacement had to be done right away. Thankfully, we intervened before she paid. We got a second opinion from another reputable company, who confirmed that the part needed replaced, was still under warranty and that labor would be only $2,200. Out of curiosity, we also got a quote for a full furnace replacement--$8,000 for a higher-quality unit than what Wickstrom was trying to sell her. This company has been preying on and scaring an elderly woman into unnecessary and extremely overpriced work. It is absolutely unacceptable and sickening to see a business operate this way. I rarely leave reviews, but after spending $23,000 with Wickstrom Plumbing for a pipe replacement project, I feel compelled to share my experience so others can make an informed decision. Although the project began positively, it unfortunately did not end that way. The original timeline was projected at two weeks, but the work ultimately stretched to nine weeks, with very limited communication from the company throughout the delays. I consistently had to follow up for updates, and calls often went unanswered. Eventually, I was only able to reach the company through text messages, and even those responses were sporadic. Despite having a written contract, when I asked for items listed in that agreement to be completed, communication effectively stopped. I requested to speak with management multiple times and was unable to get past the front desk. To be fair, there were a few employees who were wonderful to work with. Jake, who completed the bid, was extremely helpful, responsive, and professional. Jessica and Rochelle were also kind and supportive when I reached them. Unfortunately, the communication changed dramatically after that point. Once I was routed to a different representative, Helen, I felt dismissed, rushed, and blocked from accessing anyone who could help resolve concerns. I also paid approximately $350 for an additional plan that included a substantial project discount and one-year system inspections (HVAC, water heater, etc.). Two inspections were scheduled--requiring me to take time off work--and both were canceled the same day without meaningful follow-up. When I communicated my frustration, I received no response. I understand that delays and complications can happen, but respectful communication and honoring a contract are the minimum I expect, especially after such a significant investment. Based on my experience, I am deeply disappointed and would encourage others to consider this perspective alongside the many positive reviews. read more

We have relied on Wickstrom Plumbing for the last six years. We first came across them when they fixed our water leak problem that was covered by the water company maintenance plan (HomeServe). We were so impressed with their knowledge about where the leak was coming from (they found it right away) and how effectively they fixed the problem. We called Wickstrom again when we had problems with one of our showers not functioning, and also had them fix another faucet in the kitchen. They were professional and expert with their craft. The kitchen faucet repair person did mark up the faucet with his wrench, which I was surprised to see from a licensed plumber. That was the only downside to our work with them. We have since recommended Wickstrom to a few people on chat groups in west Boise, and they had equally good things today about their work. We paid the going rate for plumbing work and were pleased with the value of their work. We will use Wickstrom again. read more

Wickstrom is a family owned company. The family is inclusive of office staff, repair teams to the management. Including in that family as well is the customer. The staff is responsive, the communication is excellent. We have one their home contracts and would first remember that. I called Wickstrom Plumbing for a leak in our shower supply pipes on a Friday. The office said a person would be out Monday afternoon. Turns out they couldn't make it and came out Tuesday morning. That was fine with me. Garrett inspected the problem and gave me an estimate with for options: two with maintenance plan included and a combination of me getting the replacement valve or them getting one that would work - different than the one I had (meaning new and different trim). I opted for me getting the same valve I had along with the service plan. The office scheduled the repair for next Tuesday. Pete showed up on time and got to work. Got the valve out ok, but then proceeded to take the mixer valve out too, which wasn't necessary. Then had serious trouble getting the mixer valve back together and had to call in Garrett to help. I had to find the old install instructions to figure it out. Turns out neither one had ever seen this high end Kohler valve I bought before. I had to direct them to the install instructions again to make sure it got installed correctly (take plug out, move spacer). The job was estimated at 1.5 hours for one person and it took 4 hours with an extra person half the time. I think Pete is still learning the job and they don't work with high end hardware much. They kept to the cost estimate and finished up the job very satisfactorily, but I was shaking my head a little. Good company; very nice people in the field and in the office. read more

We had a significant leak with our outside water pipes. Wickstrom was contacted by Homeserve where we had insurance. Sam and Kody did a great job finding the leak and repaired it in a reasonable amount of time. They we professional and courteous. We highly recommend this company. read more

On 06/21/24 we used services of Wickstrom heating and cooling company because our AC didn't work very well. It didn't blow very cold air, just a little cool but not cold. After diagnostics specialist suggested adding refrigerant and assured us that the air conditioner would make the house cooler. He said it will definitely be better than now. We made the payment of $1032 and the specialist went to do his job, after which he added 1,5 pound of refrigerant R22 and something else to stop leak . He said he could not put more refrigerant because of low pressure in AC. I believe the pressure was around 10. He said that by putting more refrigerant (R22) it will make worse and it could break the system. After 3-4 days we still did not see the difference and scheduled a new meeting with same company . At this point we stopped using AC because it didn't make the difference weather it's on or off. Due to the fact that an elderly family lives in the house, both of whom recently suffered a stroke, we ask company to immediately take measures to eliminate the poor quality of the work. After another 3 days technician arrived, connected the equipment and said that everything was working fine and left. After another 3-4 days we noticed that the air conditioner stopped making cold air at all. It fact it was making warm/hot air when turned in cool mode. (We have receipt of installation with company Alley ). We live on low social security income and come up with money for new system was very hard. We had to borrow money from friends and families. But wait, isn't the technician from Wickstrom put 1,5 pound? Plus we had some refrigerant there before he add it 1,5 pound. That means damage happen after technician came to our house. I'm asking Wickstrom company to refund in the amount of $1032. By the way, when technician from Wickstrom came first time he added over $100 fee for "quality work guarantee ". I asked him to remove that fee because we didn't have that extra money . I have a question . Did he do sloppy job because we didn't pay "quality work guarantee " fee? read more

These people work for Home Serve who contract with Suez Water Co who sell insurance for home water lines. My house had low water pressure. They came out for an hour & did nothing. Then they called & said they would send someone else cause they needed a special gauge to check my pressure. The guy that came used the same gauge I had, standard. (Incompetent!) This guy did go in the crawl space & said there were no leaks under the house. Said it could be the turn off valve or blocked water line. Then Home Serve calls to say they don't cover blocked turn off valves in my insurance policy! All 3 businesses are crooked! Going to report to the BBB & call the attorney general. If I could give zero stars I would. Stay away from Wickstrom, Home Serve & Suez Water Co., they are all crooks! read more

I had an entirely different experience than previous reviewer J W. Both times I've used Wickstrom in the past 5 years, they were one of the few companies that did *not* charge for a bid. (See my 4/21/14 review here: https://member.angieslist.com/member/store/356401/reviews?categoryId=107I.) My experience this time was just as wonderful. Service technician Blake came out quickly to do a no-cost bid on some plumbing work I needed done. Blake was professional, personable, and ethical. The estimate was written up clearly, and he worked with me to come up with the lowest cost option for three separate jobs. When Blake came out to do the work, he did a thorough, top-quality job, cutting no corners and even taking into consideration making service easier for the next plumber that (hopefully long after I've left) performs the same work. Both times dispatcher Helen kept me apprised of Blake's arrival times. It was good to hear her friendly voice again 5 years later. Wickstrom Service Co. is a first-class outfit and I will use them for all my future plumbing needs. I highly recommend them. read more

Something about this business has just rubbed me the wrong way, and it begins with their on-site man, Cody. I've crossed paths with him 3 times now, and each time I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. My next-door neighbor has had a lot of problems with their outside plumbing. They've now had the same repair done 6 (!!!) times in the last 18 months. On one of those occasions, Cody knocked on my door. He was very, very nice, and asked for permission to access the neighbor's front yard from mine, which meant driving a bulldozer across my lawn and damaging my grass. It was against my better judgement, but he was persuasive and seemed so sincere in his request. He was very, very respectful of me and my concerns about damaging my lawn, and he assured me they would repair the damage when they were done. I gave him the go-ahead. Fast forward, he damaged my lawn, left huge ruts and tread marks all over it, and didn't bother to repair it, or to speak with me again. I did the repair myself. The next repair my neighbor needed, a few months later (same leak as before on their front lawn) Cody once again came to my front lawn, and once again asked, very respectfully and nicely, if he could drive his bulldozer across my front lawn again. I told him no and explained why, that he'd never repaired the previous damage he'd promised to do. He made several attempts to change my mind, almost pleading, in the same respectful manner he'd used before. I wouldn't budge. He suddenly did a 180, stalked away from my door, and said "I'm done talking with you. I got no use for you." Had to laugh at that, he'd shown his true colors and it was amusing how quickly he'd turned. Because I have Home Serve insurance coverage, I contacted Wickstrom when I was having an issue with my outside plumbing. I had a bad leak and when I contacted Home Serve, the call was responded to by Wickstrom.It seems they have an exclusive contract with Home Serve. Cody came to my door, either he didn't remember me or he played it off. We looked at the leak area briefly, and he decided his company didn't do that kind of work (I was confused by this, but what can you do?) He then seemed to change his mind and poked around at the site of the leak for about 5 minutes, then told me, again, it wasn't their job, and he left. I was able to resolve the problem by hiring a plumber, who made very fast work of the leak, and the cost actually turned out to be far more economical than I'd anticipated. My most recent contact with Wickstrom was in September 2022. Cody was digging up the neighbor's front lawn with his bulldozer again, same leak different day (SIX TIMES!!!). I went to the front door and began chatting with my neighbor about what was going on. i told the neighbor I wasn't impressed with Wickstrom. Apparently Cody was eavesdropping, because immediately after I said that, Cody (from where he was working, perhaps 20 feet away) asked in an elevated voice "and why is that?" I told him I hadn't been talking to him (my voice was elevated, as well) and he pointed at me and said "yea, well, I'm talking to you." The conversation didn't last long, as I had no desire to talk with him after our previous interactions and it was just two idiots hollering at each other. He came across as a hothead, and unfortunately I tend to be that way myself. However, upon finishing my conversation with my neighbor, I walked to the sidewalk and asked him if he still wanted to talk. He said no, it wouldn't do any good. I ended up cursing at him (which was wrong on my part) and told him he was "full of shit." By that, I meant he's very nice when he wants something, but when he doesn't, he is surly, unfriendly and unprofessional. That is the epitome of a phony, in my opinion. I will be canceling my contract with Home Serve when the first year expires soon. I hope I don't regret it, as my neighborhood has had a lot of problems with outside plumbing and the insurance is a very good idea. I won't renew because I will never let Cody do anything on my property. I wish I had an option to use a different company than Wickstrom. I'd be very careful about hiring Wickstrom if Cody shows up to do the job, and he seems to be an on-site manager of some sort. I would not trust him as far as I can throw him. If you find yourself, like me, forced to use Wickstrom due to Home Serve, just be sure you keep very close tabs on him and what he claims they are doing. Two negative experiences with this company. I would not call them for any work. First experience was radiant house heat was not working this past winter. They sent a 'technician' out to look at the system. He came to the conclusion that the thermostat(s) were the issue and the whole house would need to be rewired to solve the issue (house built in 2013). Issue was the control board and $280.00 later the system was up and running. Second encounter with this company was this weekend on a clogged kitchen drain. Made contact with them on Sunday evening and they said we were on schedule for Monday and would call to verify time. I called to update phone number I could be reached at on Monday morning, spoke to a different person who stated they could not get there on Monday and the person whom I spoke to on Sunday night was mistaken when she said we would be on the Monday schedule. It might be just our experience, but seems that these companies that state they are 24hr service are just want thing you to call so they can say they are to busy on a weekend night, but we can get to you first thing Monday morning. They really don't intend on responding during the weekend. Do not call this company , they are unreliable and not very well trained. read more

We had a rough start, but holy moly did they make a stellar comeback. I had a high water bill and had purchased HomeServe Insurance through Suez to cover the exterior water line. Wickstrom was in contact within an hour or two of me calling HomeServe and scheduled the appointment for the coming Monday morning. Helen called right on the dot to let me know Garrett was on his way, I also got an email with his name and picture that tracked his route to my home - kinda cool! Garrett was professional and polite and quickly confirmed there was indeed a leak. He advised another tech would be out later the same day to pinpoint where the specific leak was. I felt uncomfortable with the information from the second tech and was unclear as to what would happen next or what I would be responsible for. The day of the dig, Jake and his crew showed up and I expressed my fears and frustrations to them. The were so awesome... They listened, apologized, validated my fears, and reassured me of what work would be done. They spent the rest of the day pinpointing the leak over my entire property and troubleshooting doing the least damage to my existing hard landscaping. The day of the dig, they arrived right on time and got to work. It was emotional to see my yard dug up, but I was so thankful for Jake and his crew. They kept me appraised at every step, explained everything they were doing, worked very well as a team, and didn't stop working until they were satisfied they had fixed the problem - after 3 full days of digging. I've never seen a crew work so hard, I think I had every employee at my house at one point. They really had my best interest at heart and went above and beyond to get it right. To me, it was a nightmare; to them, it was just all in a days work to get things right. That speaks to the personal integrity of these guys - really very good people. We had a slow leak in our 60 year old galvanized waterline coming from the meter at the street, into our house. The leak occurred about 2 feet away from the house --consequently we discovered a big pool of water in our basement on the floor in our laundry room and an adjacent bedroom. We've paid for the leak guard protection for years from the water company, unfortunately they only pay to have the leak repaired. We decided after looking at the old waterline, to bear the expense of having the entire line replaced from the street to the house. Wickstrom had the equipment to bore through the ground at a 42 inch depth, so the only excavation was at the water meter and near the house. We found every employee with Wickstrom's to be very professional, communicative, and careful in all the work that was done. They kept us advised of all arrival times, work times and helped us understand exactly what they were doing. Could not of asked for better service. Gotta love companies that want to charge you for a price quote. They do the old "pay me $79 to give a quote, or pay me to do the work now at my chosen price, and I'll wave the $79". I called five other companies for quotes and none of the others charge to come out and give a price quote. If your looking to pay money to hear how much a plumber is going to charge you, these are the folks for you! read more
