A-1 truly lived up to their name! This was my first time calling an HVAC specialist. I used Yelp to provide a list of licensed vendors that service Emmett, read Google reviews and called A-1. The front office explained my options in a friendly and professional manner. We chose their MVP (Maintenance Value Plan) at an affordable price. A-1 used text and email to keep me informed. On appointment day, Alan called with his ETA and arrived on time. He was also friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Alan even gave me the choice for him to perform his work alone or explain to me the AC system as he serviced it. He even went the extra mile and explained how I could repair a broken hose bib myself and save the expense of a plumber's visit. For those with compromised health (cancer, auto-immune, etc.), they offer a "no contact" visit. Although we have a disabled person in our home, we did not need it. But we sure appreciate their sensitivity and utmost professionalism. read more

We had the go around with a different vendor to fix our AC before calling A-1. Racked up $1,200 to add Freon, replace a control board, and then replace a motor which wouldn't come in 5-7 business days. They put in a rescue motor which didn't blow any cold air whatsoever. Alan from A-1 came was was SO great! He asked for all that had happened, and then slowed down and explained how an AC works, what possible things could go wrong, and invited us to watch as he worked so we could learn. To try and keep this short, Alan discovered we did not need Freon, the original command board was completely fine and reinstalled our original command board so the previous vendor could come get their new board. Alan also found out that the complete motor wasn't broken but rather than just a component. Lastly, the rescue motor had the wires crossed so it was pulling air in rather than pushing. He had cold air blowing within 20 min of work while the other vendor took 9 hours and no air ever came out. By the next day our AC was completely fixed for half the price. Due to Alan's notes, and giving back the new control board, we were able to receive a full refund from the prior company. The owner also reached out afterwards to see how everything went and make sure there was nothing else needed. They really went the extra mile at every opportunity! 10/10 would recommend to anyone! Air conditioner stopped working on the first hundred-degree day, of course. I work a weird night shift job and had to request an appointment a few days later. Scheduling with Amanda (I think, sorry if I got the name wrong) was easy and painless. She set me up for Monday between 8-12 and says the tech would call when on the way. Monday morning Gary calls right at 8 saying he's on the way. Gets here and gets to work. Despite there being more than one issue, Gary gets it all done in about an hour. Called Friday morning before they opened and within 20 minutes I got a call back and an appointment later that day. After getting a diagnostic done on our old AC unit from a different company and finding out our broken AC system was 25 years old, we opted to not get a repair but do a replacement. We went through Costco for the considerable savings, and A1 recommended a variable speed system. For the most part the system works fine. It begins to struggle as it gets above 85 outside but mostly keeps up until summers like this one. This is a problem we didn't have with our old unit until it failed, and I wish now that I had gotten a second opinion on repair vs replacement. A1 came out several times to try to get better performance out of the unit, and I suppose it got slightly better, but it was marginal enough that I can't say for sure. At least one of the several techs that visited over the course of those many visits admitted to me that they did not have much experience dealing with variable stage systems. I'm just thankful that between the solid construction of the house and a huge shade tree on the west side, the house holds temperature until late afternoon. Otherwise, we would be struggling. The one thing that I particularly want to point out to any homeowner who is considering financing, avoid Goodleap at all costs, if that is who they want you to use. I have had several HVAC loans in my life, and I have never seen a loan with such awful terms. Terms that were not explained to us properly, and resulted in us paying an exorbitant amount of interest that we did not expect. Goodleap is being sued by the state of Minnesota for such misleading tactics. read more

I thought good customer service was a thing of the past, A-1 heating and air proved to not only provide good customer service, but phenomenal customer service and care. I came home from work on Monday evening when it was 101° outside and I could tell my AC was struggling to keep up. I texted A1 heating and air through the Yelp app, and they responded right away. I requested someone come out, and we made an appointment for Thursday afternoon. An hour later, my air conditioner had completely gone out so I texted them and they were able to meet with me that day, MONDAY evening! Matt came out at 8:30 in the evening, gave me a bid, and approved me for financing. I had gotten bids before in the past from several other companies, and I knew that A1 heating and air had some of the better rates, so I felt comfortable committing that evening. The house had gotten up close to 90° and Matt said that they had a space air conditioner that they could provide, when one came available. The following day Matt got ahold of me and said he would bring one out Wednesday morning. What a lifesaver! we needed a entirely new system. the whole shebang. we decided to go through costco because of the warranty and the bonuses that come with it. costco sent A-1 to our house and a nice gentleman named TJ came and assessed everything we need, didn't BS me- gave me the best option for our home, and emailed everything over to me in writing so I could look at it. when our AC stopped working, they put us on an emergency list and we're out within 5 days to install the new system. the entire time, TJ was super responsive and available 24/7 with updates on when they were coming and the whole process. all the docs were signed online so it was easy. the day of, mark and sarah came out and worked hard all day to get everything installed. they were clean, courteous, friendly, and overall did not mind having them in my house all day long. TJ came by during the install to check on progress and when it was all done he called me the day after and a few days after that to make sure everything was working smoothly. we had a small leak from a tube (not the system) and he immediately sent someone over to fix it. honestly, I have absolutely zero bad things to say about this company. they were perfect in every way. wish it hadn't hit my wallet so hard, but that's just life. my experience was nothing but stellar in this huge investment. I have never left a negative review for any companies. but I am very disappointed in A1 Heating and Cooling. Our house had heating issues and A1 came out and all they recommended was to fix some of our duct work which they did a horrible job of replacing and were squished down and stepped on. Two zone dampers were worn out which they did not diagnose and the one they installed was installed improperly causing no air to flow through our house. We were told it is just cold outside. We ended up using our fireplace to try to warm our two story house and had to sleep in jackets and hate and gloves the entire winter until our fireplace broke down And we had another company come and fix our fire place and they noticed our house was so cold. Within an hour they diagnosed why our our was cold and we got our heat back. We paid this new company to re-do the duct work and replace the zone dampers. After spending thousands of dollars and being upset at A1, we were told that they were going to send us $500 because we were good customers. That does not even cover a fraction of what we spent. We will let our five year contract run out and will not Be working with them any more. So sad. read more

I recently bought a house and decided that the patio cover needed a fan for when it really warms up. Older home with some crazy wiring but the fellas were able to asses the situation and install the fan and then come back to address the multiple GFIs that were superfluous and would just cause issues down the road. Appreciate when a business actually works to resolve an issue that all parties can agree upon. We will be giving them another opportunity to work on a project we have upcoming. Original Review: Avoid this company at all cost! We initially engaged with this company to have a mini split installed, but before initiating we had to have a potential gas leak check around the house. Nothing was found and no work was done. We were told $110 would be the cost and if any work had to be done that would be determine based on work completed. Nothing was done since no leak was found. They decided to charge $250 instead of the $110. Specifically, dealt with TJ who accounts payable referred us back to and he was of no help. Again, disappointed in a company that supposedly is well reviewed. read more

They did a great job at installing the electrical plug for our range. I was not thrilled, however that shoe covers were not used and they tracked mud throughout my kitchen dining room area!! So I would suggest the company invest in shoe/boot covers to protect customers floors! read more

I recently spoiled myself and bought a hot tub. Great, but I needed it wired. Called several companies. All came out looked at the project and we talked about it. A-1 was the only company to say they wouldn't do it without a permit. They also explained why they could not put the cut-off box where I wanted along with several other items none of the other companies talked about. There prices were also very competitive. Not the cheapest but very competitive. Needless to say, I hired A-1. They did the work in a timely manner. I know have a permitted and working hot tub that I regularly enjoy. Cannot thank A-1 enough. Found water heater going out on a Sunday evening, water all over the basement floor. Was scheduled to go on vacation Tuesday. They replaced our heat pump last summer, so we already had a good working relationship and great customer service from them. Called and left a message that evening explaining my situation, and received a call from them even before they opened Monday morning to schedule a technician visit. He was extremely kind and efficient, confirming the water heater was done, draining it and having a salesman call me immediately to discuss options for a new unit. Service team came out before noon on Tuesday, removed old unit and installed the new water heater with no mess to my house (even though it's an old house and they were working in super tight spaces). I know not every business treats it's customers this way, but I'm posting this review from my vacation because everyone at A-1 empathized with my situation and fast-tracked the work I needed to get me here. I had a great experience with the two guys that came out to my house, Jesus and Braiden were polite the whole time, went right to work in trying to diagnose the problem I was having, replaced a couple of wall receptacles and eventually narrowed down the problem to a short in the concrete wall. they secured the receptacle (closed off and put a plate) and I once again had power in my room..Good job guys! We've had decades of great service with the heating and air department including a whole new furnace/ac install, so we tried their new electrical service. They sent a guy out to give us a quote. $230 to troubleshoot under cabinet light, and $160 each to switch two flourescents to led. Sounds reasonable so we scheduled the job. Tech comes out and tells us the actual fixing of under cabinet light is not included and would cost an additional $700-900. So we paid $230 to get a quote for the work. Feel totally ripped off. We managed to replace it ourselves for $50. So beware, when it says troubleshoot cost on the quote it means the price you have to pay to get an electrician to come to your house to give you an actual real quote for the job. We never would have agreed to pay this if anyone had bothered to explain it to us beforehand. read more

A-1 sales and service are good - prompt and courteous. The problem is Lennox is very low quality. I purchased the most expensive residence furnace & A/C Lennox offered. I have had multiple service calls on the furnace, one ended up in replacement of the "Heat Exchanger", which would have cost much $$$ if it had not been on warranty. Currently, I am experiencing a repeat problem with the thermostat. The technician told me if it happened again, they would replace the thermostat. I wish they had, now I have to change my schedule to accommodate another service call. read more
