For an appetizer we ordered the onion rings. They are shoestring rings which are my boyfriend's favorite and he loved these. His only complaint was that they needed more salt, but there was some at the table so he just added his own. The ranch that comes with them is also very good. For pizza, we split the Northsider and thought it was delicious. The pepperoni they have is so good. I'm not sure where they are getting it, but it's my favorite pepperoni. To us, it seemed a little pricey for pizza, but it was so delicious we thought it was worth it. We typically don't eat all our leftover pizza, but there was not a single slice left over. The service is wonderful and they even let us know ahead of time that pizza was running a little longer when we ordered which didn't bother us, but it was appreciated they told us. I had the opportunity to visit for the first time. Although they may specialize in pizza and sandwiches, whenever I see French Onion Soup on the menu I'm going to try it! The soup came out piping hot and very cheesy as I would expect. The broth and onions were good with the rye croutons they use adding slight mushroom-flavored undertones. It is a terrific place, combining great pizza and fantastic customer service. We met staffers Jill and Karen on-site a week ago after their restaurant had just closed, and they encouraged us to return. I'm so glad we did because the food is outstanding, and the restaurant and pub have a great vibe. This is the first time I have ever been to Wig & Pen and I was not disappointed. Everyone I talked to was very helpful and friendly, so I knew I had picked the right place. Was not disappointed at all, our waitress was fantastic and service was great. We had a great server that was obviously busy, so we cut her some slack. Great food, good prices, good experience. Tucked in a small strip mall. We've passed this place a few times over the years, but tonight was the night. Saturday evening at 5:30 we met up with another couple who also had not been here. After bringing back our drinks, we put in our order. We ordered the onion rings to share and a flying tomato style pizza. We got the East Sider. When we ordered the pizza, our waitress, Emily , told us pizza was about an hour wait. I appreciate that she gave us the heads up. We didn't have anywhere to be, so we went ahead with the pizza order. Again. Being told ahead of time was very, very appreciated. The onion rings came out hot. They were the thin, stringy onion rings. Served with ranch tasted good. We burned through those quick, and Emily kept the drinks coming. The pizzas finally came, hot and delicious. I really enjoyed the flying tomato style. The crust was flaky like a pot pie. I can see why it takes so long to make and bake. There was even an ad on the table that you have, then make and bake a pizza halfway. Then you take it home and finish the bake. It was a nice family restaurant automosphere. Football up on the screens. The staff was busy, and you can tell they were busy. 02/05/2023 My wife was hungry for chicken wings and found an article stating that Wig and Pen had some of the best, so we came back to try their wings while in the area. We started with a Bloody Mary (see picture) since it was on special for the day and really enjoyed it - good flavor and not to spicy or salty. For an appetizer, we ordered Breaded Mushrooms (see picture) - a solid offering if you like them but nothing super special. For the meal, we ordered Wing Zings (see picture) with Big Ben sauce. The Big Ben sauce was good, but we found the wings to be awfully salty with a very thick, crunchy breading / crust. For us, they were again solid, but not what we would put in the upper echelon of wings that we've eaten. If you are hungry for wings I wouldn't pick this place first, but if you are looking for deep-dish, really cheesy pizza, this is still one of my favorites! read more

Went with a large group for a birthday dinner. Our server was fantastic! We had close to 20 people and she never missed a beat. Drinks, appetizers and all food was correct as ordered. I ordered to the flying tomato crust for my meat pizza. Absolutely delicious crust and so perfectly cooked! My only complaint was the kitchen staff bringing out our food literally had no idea what they were bringing out, nor who it went to because they were helping our rockstar of a waitress. Every pizza was brought out with a blank stare, a pronouncement of the crust type and then a guess at toppings or specific pizza type. I've been to Wig & Pen numerous times over the years and went back for the first time in 2+ years Saturday night. Their deep dish, Chicago style pizza is always a solid option, and this time was no different. Unfortunately, on a moderately busy Saturday, the usual 40 minute deep dish wait turned into an hour and a half. We were seated right away and anticipating a wait, ordered appetizers (onion rings and garlic cheese bread) -- but would have loved a heads up from the staff on the extra time. Instead, the wait staff largely disappeared during that time while our drinks depleted and the ice melted. Other than that, the onion rings were good and plentiful, my husband loved the garlic cheese bread and thought it reminded him of the Pizza Hut breadsticks' flavor (Him: in a good way!). I initially thought $9 for onion rings was a smidge high as was $7 for 4 pieces of cheese bread but we'll blame inflation and be grateful their pizza is so affordable. We'll certainly return but will probably hit up Felix & Oscars first before making this our deep dish pizza go to again. read more

I had heard that Wig and Pen did really good deep dish pizza but I just got to experience it for myself a few weeks ago. I still haven't been able to get the pizza out of my brain. The crust is crunchy but not dry, and it stays intact despite the large amount of cheese that's piled on top of it. There's so much melty cheese on the pizza and it's amazing. I also had one of their side salads, with their house dressing. I believe it's a creamy Parmesan dressing. You will want this dressing to dip your pizza into. read more

The woman owner came out and asked us if that was our motorcycle parked on the back patio I said, do you think me and my wife and the dog all rode on the motorcycle!! then she said our service dog wasn't allowed.
