Any TRAINED GROOMER knows how to cut their nails without causing harm so it's obvious they are not properly trained. I spoke to the owner Rob ,he confirmed my appointment and said the drop off is between 8-9am. I specifically asked him how long will it take and when can I pick up my dog? I had a doctors appointment at 3p ... Rob confirmed back to me a time of between 12- 1pm he put me on hold and checked with Amy the groomer..I thought this was strange because I've had 15 different types of dogs who were all groomed over the years and it never took longer then 2-3 hours..( I know a little something about grooming bc my cousin who was on vacation is a groomer and I've helped her in the past.) I wanted to give PUP PURRI GROOMERS the benefit of the doubt so I agreed.. After waiting 7 hours for what I thought was a grooming I called back only to find out he was never groomed which is beyond CRAZY! When I called and questioned what was taking so long and that 7 hours had passed, the owner Rob got very nasty on the phone and explained that just because I was the first one to drop off my dog at 8a he wouldn't be groomed first...THIS IS A VERY UNUSUAL PROCEDURE. Every groomer I have ever used in NJ and Florida would honor your appointment and within an hour maybe two I would get a call to pickup my dogs..( I had two poms at that time and they were still groomed faster!) Rob spewed a lot of bs and said come at 4p he then hung up the phone on me... ( I WAS FLOORED BECAUSE I AM A NEW CLIENT.) I then received a call from Amy the groomer, she spewed the same thing and said older dogs would be groomed first, or whoever complains the most would get their dog first! WELL MY POMERANIAN IS 12YEARS OLD, ACCORDING TO THEIR POLICY HE SHOULD'VE BEEN ONE OF THE FIRST TO BE GROOMED SO HE DOESN'T GET STRESSED! 7 HOURS IN A CAGE IN A STRANGE PLACE WOULD STRESS ANY DOG LET ALONE MY 12 YEAR OLD POM.. Rob wanted me to wait another hour which would've been 8 HOURS total. I figured out they never groomed him.. ( my dog can go get a procedure done at the vet faster then a grooming at this establishment ..) I TOLD AMY DON'T BOTHER , I'LL TAKE HIM ELSEWHERE.. I got in my car and I went right over there. I walked in the front door and I waited at the desk, I could hear Amy and Rob on the side where they do the grooming. I then heard my dog cry and yelp.They didn't know I was inside at the front desk waiting..The whole place is open style. I could see there were no other dogs in this place...all the cages were empty! When my dog cried I yelled out AMY I WANT MY DOG!! ( they were hurting him!) The owner Rob came out with my dog who wasn't groomed, he was suppose to be washed, shaved , lions mane, and nails clipped....What I thought was also very strange was every time I called which was 3x my calls were routed to their Dunellen store where I got the owner Rob . I explained to him I wanted to make sure that Amy cut the " dew claws" and shave the back end.. I thought it was strange that when I called I didn't get Amy herself. I kept getting the owner at a different location in Dunellen.. 15 minutes later I get a call from Amy on her cell phone explaining to me that she has no phone in the building. Again this is extremely strange! Every groomer I've ever been to has had a working phone to book appointments and to call clients when their dog/ dogs would be ready....I explained to her what I wanted because she said that the owner gave her a totally different message and Amy thought I didn't want my dog groomed...this was early on.... I COULD'VE BEEN ANY CLEARER..what exactly I wanted done... At 2:30p I still didn't hear from Pup Purri Groomers. I decided to call again. I finally got a hold of the owner Rob because my call was routed there again and I explained it's 2:30p and my dog was supposed to be done between 12 - 1pm as promised..I also told the owner that I was the first one there to drop off my dog. "He said oh we don't go by that, just because you're the first one to arrive doesn't mean your dog is going to get groomed first.. All the dogs go into a kennel and sit there until they decide which dog their going to groom and when" Their policy is they decide when and who they groom.. Amy said" if a client complains or bitches they will try and push that dog first.My neighbor who used them also said it took over 5 hours to groom his Pomeranian and when he picked up his dog there were no other dogs . FYI SINCE BRINGING MY DOG HERE HE NOW LIMPS WITH HIS RIGHT PAW! I learned a good lesson if it walks like a duck , sounds like a duck , it's a duck! BEWARE OF THIS GROOMER!!! Long story short...easy to book, cute set-up, great customer service and I will definitely be going back. Oh and I referred a friend that has a pup that is somewhat aggressive. She was some how able to help her with her pup and all has been well on his initial visit.

When I spoke with them there they were so nice, they sit down with your dog to give them a comfort level and it worked! They both had some matting and instead of just shaving them they took the time to untangle what they could (without stressing them) and my babies both look so good! They were calm and they said they were good being groomed! My husband and I are both so happy how they look! My little girl had a pretty bow and my little boy had on a tie on which was adorable. She was there OVER 7 hours and came out mangled - bloody from under her chin and all the way down her belly, with raw spots on her back as well. Reached out to the owner and she remarked "Sore to hear that" and asked for pictures. I sent them - and she didn't even have the courtesy to respond. With a tip, it was $95. I then had to take her to the vet for cream and an antibiotic - another $100. It isn't about the cost - but the fact that the owner did not so much as offer an apology, an excuse, or even REPLY. If I could leave negative stars, I would.

In just three hours, he calms my two Miniature Schnauzers (who absolutely hate getting groomed), manages their anxiety, and somehow coaxes them into perfect cooperation. When I pick them up, they're perfectly sanitized and coiffed down to every whisker. She's tried other daycares in the area as well, and even though the others have cameras and Dog Days doesn't, I still fully trust them with her care and safety. I love how Dog Days separates by how the dogs play (rougher or tamer) instead of by size, and how large the outdoor area is for plenty of running space. She loves the handlers too, and is always happy, socialized, and exhausted after a day at Dog Days.

LITERALLY LOST MY DOG! 1 star is generous…read more This was my first, and absolute last experience with this "groomer." I dropped off my dog and was told she would be ready in a few hours. As promised, a few hours later, I got a call stating my dog was ready to be picked up. I arrived at the shop within 20 minutes only to find the front door locked, and no one answering the phone. After 10 minutes of waiting, she finally pulled up, with who I believe was her boyfriend, and informed me that my dog was missing! Apparently, her boyfriend took my dog for a walk, and she pulled out of her collar (which she has never done with me or anyone else), and took off running. She told me that she was just out looking for her, but couldn't find her, and that she had contacted that local police who were assisting in the search. But that she had been last seen in the vicinity of Park Ave. and E. Front St. Luckily, my story has a happy ending and after two hours of searching, my dog was found unharmed (just exhausted). However, she was over 1.5 miles from the "groomer" (near Brunner Elementary), and she had navigated numerous busy roads and intersections. I am extremely fortunate to still have my dog with me. Throughout the entire ordeal, the "groomer" appeared to be very unsympathetic, and just kind of an "oops" attitude. Bottom line: Completely incompetent individual and an unprofessional operation.
