Fun addition to the mall! Grabbed a drink and a sampler to explore, both at reasonable prices. Wide variety of options at the bar, or in the store available for purchase. Will definitely be back.

Visited towards the end of the evening. The staff was happy to answer any questions. We also made it for last call and ordered drinks at the bar. Loved the Into the Woods and was hoping for more of a coffee flavor from the Basic Witch.

Calling all boyfriends/husbands - this is the new hangout spot while the gals shop! Exactly like the Smallman street location, this is a great new addition to Ross Park Mall! You get 2 free samples of whiskey - never a bad idea to big before you try. Highly recommend the Cinnamon Toast Crunch cocktail!

So here's my MO. Whenever I go somewhere, I always ask the server for a recommendation. Why?…read moreBecause they're the experts! Also, I've a hard time making decisions so I'm cheating! DRINKS: something sweet and or fruit. FOOD: what would you feed a hungry football player? Someone who likes savory/ flavorful dishes but can't do "too spicy." Now that you know, we can continue our tipsy yelping. UPDATE: Butcher and the Rye closed 12/2020 due to covid-19 pandemic's tour of fine dining destruction. The location reopened 12/02/22 as Apres Ski Bar while the Butcher and Rye concept is reignited. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ I've been here before and the food was delicious. It was about 2+ years ago, so I'd be lying if I told you what I ate. However, my subconscious causes my mouth to water when I think about eating here. Make that bit of information what you will. Yesterday I was out for drinks. The night's vict-- server was Erin. She recommended the Snowfall in Montego Bay. She made an excellent recommendation. It was made of a clove infused Jamaican rum, banana, cinnamon, rosemary, honey coconut, and apple cider. The blend of flavors was well-balanced and helped prevent any one flavor dominating the drink. So if you don't like any of the listed ingredients you should be safe to order because they all worked in harmony to prevent offending your palate. In the meantime, I need to make sure to return for dinner again.

I went on Friday evening for their new Spookeasy Halloween themed pop up bar. It was opening day of…read moretheir new concept so I expected it to be super busy which it was. The five of us put our name in on the waitlist and proceeded to wait outside. I checked in not too long later and was told we were first on the list to get in. It started pouring rain and they were nice enough to let us wait in the entrance on the sides so that we didn't get soaked. They then proceeded to move us to the side of the bar where the entrance is into Tako, took our drink orders and my friend's card for the tab, and then told us that we would get our drinks and get seated shortly. We waited....then waited....then waited some more. It was not a great spot to put us since staff members kept walking from Butcher to Tako and back. We finally asked them if we could just got sit in Tako and get out drinks there since we were attending an after party there afterwards anyways. They said yes and let us go to the Tako side. After quite some time we got our drinks delivered to us at Tako and they were lazy in my opinion. I absolutely loved Apres Ski Bar and The Lost Cantina (the previous two pop up concepts there this year) so I badly wanted to love Spookeasy but it was not it for me. Pretty much all the drink were just drinks from the Lost Cantina tiki concept with a skull put in it or just a changed name. My friend and I split the Science Fiction Double Feature and it was almost unbearably sweet (although I did appreciate the popcorn container). The Purple People Eater was delightful but it was also That Purple Drink from the Lost Cantina. The Chupacabra drink was exactly the same drink, name and everything from the last concept. I also wanted to like the decor inside Spookeasy since the decor for Apres Ski Bar and The Lost Cantina were phenomenal. The decor for Spookeasy was also lazy. They kept all the Lost Cantina decor and just put skulls, spiders, and bats everywhere. Overall, Spookeasy was just not it for me. I will say it was their opening day when I went so maybe they just need more time to have more creative drinks and decor. But it felt like to me that they're just tired and the pop up bars need to stop (I'm sure it's exhausting to think of new themed drinks and decorations all the time) and it needs to go back to the regular Butcher and the Rye.

Whenever I tell people that it's basically a pub with great sushi they are truly befuddled but everything here works (and is extremely delicious) I've had numerous things from the menu but I always go back to the steak sandwich. There are a few staple drinks but I love to have a bar tender make whatever they're feeling. I've had some fun nights with complete strangers while watching Pen's games. This is the place to be.

I've heard so many mixed things that I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed every aspect of my experience. It kind of has dive bar vibes but the food and drink options are definitely on the elevated side. They open at 4 on Sundays and I got there around 4:15. It was already pretty busy (and by the time I was leaving, every single table and bar stool were occupied). They have standard booth seats along the windows, hightop tables in the middle and bar seating along the bar that curves along the back of the restaurant. I chose to sit at the bar since I was by myself. I was promptly greeted by the bartender. They don't hand you copies of the menu, you have to scan the QR code to access. It is easy to read and follow with sections for drinks, specials (this time they were Wicked themed as a nod to the show at the Benedum) and a sushi section. I ordered the street corn dip. The chips were a bit overcooked and the dip was just OK. I thought it was pricey for what you got. The star of my meal, though, was the patty melt. It had the burger, a bacon jam, caramelized onions and was absolutely delicious! It was served with fries. I considered ordering sushi but wasn't sure what to expect. The patrons sitting on either side of my ordered rolls and they were a nice size and looked delicious, so that is something I would consider ordering in the future. It was a place I'll likely be back to because of the proximity to the theater (although their prices definitely reflect that). Just note how crowded it always is and give yourself plenty of time if you plan on heading here for dinner before the show.

Linguini taglines this with: "Surprisingly good tacos for the Pittsburgh area."…read more Classic high ceiling gastropub vibe replaced with a Mexican menu and decor. It's 2026, everyone can do tacos these days. If you can't accept that, you can't accept America as the melting pot it is. Land of the umarginalized kinda marginalized... still marginals, but less so. Huh? Whatever. Onto the food and reasoning for myself wandering the shockingly perky streets of Pittsburgh. In no way do I assert that the people of Pittsburgh are percilicious. In fact the opposite. I simply mean I'm shocked by how many restaurants and bars there are down the two lanes of street in the entire city. I shan't disclose too much of myself or my doings but I had some business to attend to. Notice I did not say to take care of. Because I wasn't there for that. In fact, I shouldn't even have been there. I was, in a sense, brought to entertain. There is no shame to it, I will call it as it is. A corporate dummy sent to use his striking swagger and suave to keep others content as they do dealings of mediocrity. Fine by me. You know what else was fine by me? These tacos. Got a variety of them. All were actually really good. Taco shells were actually texturable and the creations were not overwhelming or insistent - yet they were different enough and worked well in complimentary and contrasting ways. What was more fantastic is I sat in silence the entire time as the four attending with me - of whom I'd not call colleagues or acquaintances - more so, people I share in work with; As they gossiped until their tongues fell out of their mouth. Luckily, I was not tasked with the "project" of picking them up off the ground. Instead I hit back a light Corona in order to fit in to the atmosphere and fit in to my role as a collaborator. See you later? Probably not. My days in Pittsburgh will always be minimal, but if you're in the area would definitely stop in. You'll have a pleasant time and a tasty meal.

If my husband sees it on the menu, he must have it. It was good especially the top part was very sweet, which I loved. I didn't think the rest was as flavorful as I would have liked. Y husband loved it. I had the two Honey Chipotle Shrimp Tacos and they were absolutely amazing. I loved them so much. I also liked the Mexican street corn side too. My husband thought the ribs and mashed potatoes were amazing. When my mom and I see brisket on the menu, we typically have to have it. She did along with her other favorite mashed potatoes and loved both. I don't think you can have a bad meal there. Anxious to go back and try other things.
