Stopped here for some drinks to end the night. The bartender has a nice pour! The cosmo was my favorite

I checked out Wallace's for the first time last night. It was a Sunday night and pretty quiet. I had made a reservation through OpenTable but clearly didn't need it. We ended up sitting at the bar and the bartender was awesome. We enjoyed chatting with him and he gave us some great recommendations including the Smoked Gouda Housemade Sourdough Flatbread. It was loaded with caramelized onions, roasted tomatoes and watercress. And had a balsamic drizzle on it. It was fantastic. Also, if you are thinking about what side to order, make sure you try the Cheddar Stone Ground Grits. Grits are usually hot or miss and they hit a home run with these. There cocktails are also on point. The Violet Lemondrop with housemade violette and St. Germain was my favorite. Followed closely by the Blueberry Thyme Smash.

For the service it would be 4 stars, but the food was average. I would give this place a 3.5 star if I could. We had reservation for 8pm and when we show up, the place was empty. So not sure why they put our reservation that late. We had couple appetizers and includes the catfish nugget like a lot other reviewers recommended. It was good light breaded fried fish. Our server was very nice and few of his recommendations were good. Like the fried green tomato, shrimp taco and etc. Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, they have live jazz music. Probably will check it out sometime soon. It was a good time. I would go back during the live music days.

Place is not overly busy and the service greatly improved from the last time . Had a Caesar salad with chicken which the meat was extremely moist and over all I enjoyed. The server appropriately kept checking in but at the same time give me my privacy. Overall good experience!

The music here is amazing, but the food is never consistent and the service is middling.

Actually the official name of the…read morecocktail is Do You Make Espresso Martinis? because people wouldn't expect a whiskey distillery to offer one. However, Wigle does because they produce a wide array of spirits beyond whiskey like the vodka and coffee liqueur in this mix. I depended on YouTube travel vloggers to point me in the direction of this popular distillery bar and cafe in the Strip District. The place was bustling in the middle of the afternoon, and I was lucky to secure the last stool at the bar. The espresso martini drew my eye, and I thought I should have a snack to go with it. I ordered the $12 Devil's Eggvocate. Four deviled egg halves were topped with smoked paprika, pickled jalapeño slices, and bacon jam made with their own coffee liqueur (Photo 9). It was a bit top heavy for me, but then I never reject a deviled egg. If I wasn't driving, I might've considered trying a whiskey tasting, but it just wasn't in the cards. COCKTAIL / FOOD - 4 stars...smooth martini, over-the-top deviled eggs AMBIANCE - 4 stars...crowded but the bar was fine SERVICE - 3.5 stars...seemed understaffed TOTAL - 4 stars...worth having a taste and not just whiskey RELATED - Exploring Pittsburgh? Chef Drew's consistency deserves its flowers because it's rare to find a place that delivers that level of care every time you walk through the doors. And no-I wasn't invited. I just genuinely believe in spending my own money at places I enjoy because that's what keeps this industry going around. The spots that make people feel something deserve people showing back up for them. The chicken parm will neverrrrr not get ordered at this point and I truly don't think I've ever left without a full belly and leftovers I was excited about later. Huge thank you as well for the duck dish and champagne that somehow made an already good night feel even better. Also starting a little series on the people I share meals with because food's always been tied to connection for me. This dinner was with Ashley ( @burghgourmetgirl ) -someone I met when I first started putting everything I had into content creation. She's quiet but confident in a way that makes people naturally gravitate toward her. And once you really get to know her, you won't stop laughing. She works hard, plays even harder, has seen more of the world than most people ever will, and somehow still stays one of the most genuine people I know. Pittsburgh's lucky to have her, but I have a feeling she leaves a little piece of herself everywhere she goes.

Our waitress was very kind and offered recommendations throughout the experience. We started with the focaccia bread and tomato butter which was a must!! We had plenty leftover and I am still snacking on it at home. For our entrees I got the weekend special, lump crab risotto, and it was perfectly creamy yet refreshing just wish there was a little more crab in it. We also got the chicken parm and rigatoni which was delicious. The chicken parm is massive and definitely a show stopper. Kicking myself for not ordering a pasta, since it's all homemade:), but I guess I'll have to make another reservation!! Can't wait to visit when the outdoor patio is open.
