I checked out Wallace's for the first time last night. It was a Sunday night and pretty quiet. I had made a reservation through OpenTable but clearly didn't need it. We ended up sitting at the bar and the bartender was awesome. We enjoyed chatting with him and he gave us some great recommendations including the Smoked Gouda Housemade Sourdough Flatbread. It was loaded with caramelized onions, roasted tomatoes and watercress. And had a balsamic drizzle on it. It was fantastic. Also, if you are thinking about what side to order, make sure you try the Cheddar Stone Ground Grits. Grits are usually hot or miss and they hit a home run with these. There cocktails are also on point. The Violet Lemondrop with housemade violette and St. Germain was my favorite. Followed closely by the Blueberry Thyme Smash.

For the service it would be 4 stars, but the food was average. I would give this place a 3.5 star if I could. We had reservation for 8pm and when we show up, the place was empty. So not sure why they put our reservation that late. We had couple appetizers and includes the catfish nugget like a lot other reviewers recommended. It was good light breaded fried fish. Our server was very nice and few of his recommendations were good. Like the fried green tomato, shrimp taco and etc. Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, they have live jazz music. Probably will check it out sometime soon. It was a good time. I would go back during the live music days.

Place is not overly busy and the service greatly improved from the last time . Had a Caesar salad with chicken which the meat was extremely moist and over all I enjoyed. The server appropriately kept checking in but at the same time give me my privacy. Overall good experience!

The music here is amazing, but the food is never consistent and the service is middling.

Located in the heart of the South Side with its welcoming & rustic decor. Known for higher-end comfort food (never had a bad meal), 500+ tequilas, whiskey, and scotch, close to 30 tap craft beers, 10+ tap cocktails, and 10+ wines on tap. Trust me there's nothing to dislike about the food and booze offerings. There's even a Whiskey Wall of Fame (iykyk). The folks that work there are top-notch service industry pros. Their knowledge of spirits, beer, wine, and cocktails is incredible. They treat patrons with care and genuine happiness.

There's even a cute, little fireplace in the middle. My group included 14 people, and our waitress did a great job with the service. We didn't have to wait long for anything, and they were on top of it all! Our group had a wide range of brunch menu items, and everyone was so pleased! I specifically had the Bourbon banana bake and the breakfast sandwich. I REALLY loved the Bourbon banana bake. It was so flavorful and tasty. The breakfast sandwich was a little messy and the delicious sausage was a little too tiny. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal. My hubby got the Steak Breakfast Bowl, and he loved it as well. At the end of the meal, live music began, and it was a perfect ending and the icing on the cake. This is such a unique and cool spot, and I cannot wait to come again and try some new menu items!

Some places just know how to make a random night feel important…read more I've been to @fishnorfowl_pgh a few times now and every single visit I leave just as impressed as the last. Chef Drew's consistency deserves its flowers because it's rare to find a place that delivers that level of care every time you walk through the doors. And no-I wasn't invited. I just genuinely believe in spending my own money at places I enjoy because that's what keeps this industry going around. The spots that make people feel something deserve people showing back up for them. The chicken parm will neverrrrr not get ordered at this point and I truly don't think I've ever left without a full belly and leftovers I was excited about later. Huge thank you as well for the duck dish and champagne that somehow made an already good night feel even better. Also starting a little series on the people I share meals with because food's always been tied to connection for me. This dinner was with Ashley ( @burghgourmetgirl ) -someone I met when I first started putting everything I had into content creation. She's quiet but confident in a way that makes people naturally gravitate toward her. And once you really get to know her, you won't stop laughing. She works hard, plays even harder, has seen more of the world than most people ever will, and somehow still stays one of the most genuine people I know. Pittsburgh's lucky to have her, but I have a feeling she leaves a little piece of herself everywhere she goes.

The decor is wonderful but nothing else rises to expectations. The upstairs dining area was chilly…read morewith uncomfortable benches. Service was lackadaisical. After fifteen minutes we had to leave our table to get the requested cream for our coffee. The Chicken Parm which was highly touted by previous reviews was certainly plate filling but the taste of the pomodoro sauce and cheese blend was a failure. Took half home but now wonder why. I guess because of the money I had invested in it. There are too many really great places to dine in western Pennsylvania. Suggest you find one of those. Note: "A 3% operating fee applied to all checks." Wouldn't it be better to increase your food prices to offset the rising costs of operations rather than to add this on without prior notice?
