We lucked out with the weather being warm and clear. The staff were very engaging and knowledgeable. We enjoyed sitting around the campfire and learning about all of the animals. They have laminated pictures of the animals and tell you about their behavior and how they collaborate with other groups (government, ranchers, etc) to promote a thriving ecosystem. After the education, we quietly walked a short way down a trail to literally howl and hear the wolves (and foxes?) howl back. We were not disappointed. It sounded like a large, wild kennel. Afterwards, there were s'mores by the fire pit. We even saw a bonus animal slither past us. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone open to learning more about animals. Wear clothes and shoes that can get a bit dirty so you can be fully relaxed. We also applied lots of bug spray when we arrived.

I always received an email to schedule, but I didn't always notice that it was from them because there was no business name displayed. After some time, I called to get the service scheduled again. I took the day off work so I could be here on the scheduled day, and they showed up in the window that was promised. Their service vehicle was a mess on the outside, with paint peeling all over the front etc. It's just something worth mentioning because it makes them look a little less professional. I went over the grounds to describe the issues that I am having. I really needed to get things taken care of and was happy that they were here to perform the spraying. They were here for about 30 min. or less before I was told that they would have to come back some other time since their sprayer was not working. That was disappointing since I needed service sooner rather than later. Great, now I have to get back on a schedule and back in line and wait. I have no idea what was treated before the sprayer broke, or if anything was treated at all. This kind of information would have been nice. I received a VM from the office to reschedule - No apologies for the inconvenience of my taking off work for this appointment or anything. Just a "call us back to reschedule" type of thing. The last thing I need is to take off work again with the potential of the job not being able to be completed. I am going to go with another local provider and hope for the best.

When we arrived, we found a free parking spot on the street near the south entrance. It was a rainy morning but the animals were a bit more active, if anything. There are some attractions that have a charge, including the train, the carousel, the sea lion show and an animatronic dinosaur exhibit. Because there were 6 of us and we wanted to ride the train, we went ahead and paid for an annual membership instead. Unfortunately, after the rain cleared up, there were some technical problems and the trains didn't run at all on the day of our visit. We all enjoyed the dinosaur exhibit and the sea lion show was super cute! We probably only saw a third of the animals on our visit so I look forward to returning soon to see more animals and ride the train!

It means they have areas where they can get away from visitors and have some privacy, and I really appreciate that. The staff were wonderful too. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, helpful, and clearly cared about both the animals and the guests. My favorite exhibit was easily the penguins. You get incredibly close to them, and it's such a fun experience watching them waddle around, dive into the water, and zip past underwater like little torpedoes. I could have stood there for ages just watching them. The polar bears were another highlight. Seeing such massive animals swimming and roaming around up close is always impressive, and they had plenty of room to explore. There are so many different animals here that it's easy to spend most of the day wandering from exhibit to exhibit. It never felt rushed, and there was always something new around the corner. Overall, this is a fantastic zoo. Whether you're visiting St. Louis, looking for a family outing, or just want to spend a relaxing afternoon, it's an easy recommendation. My brain wasn't working correctly and we missed our tour time but the guide was kind enough to take us along during their tour. Mind you, we got there an hour and a half early but the brain cells died or something. Anyway, we got to pet the Clydesdales and had a close encounter with one. These horses are huge and very beautiful. We got to see a couple of them getting bathed and they were so gentle and well-behaved, I was quite impressed! The tour includes a free adult beverage or water for those under 21 or those who prefers a water instead. Our tour guide was amazing. I think she said her name was Linda. She was very kind and didn't even want any gratuity explaining that her role is a volunteer one. She's a retired educator and you can tell with the patience she had with her rather large tour group. The ticket price for the tour was pretty reasonable for the experience you're getting. You do pay for parking but you can take the tram for free to the village area for more activities. Unfortunately, we ran out of time the day of our tour so we didn't make it up to the village. You can take the trails (bike or on foot) and visit the farm though! When it's nicer outside, I fully intend to do so.

I went on the 4th of July on the 250th anniversary of... well I guess it wasn't the anniversary of the first-ever July 4th, but the first one like I'm talking about. I was impressed with how uncrowded the event was. The crowds were less than on the average days in the summers of my youth. These days there are no elephants at Grant's Farm. I saw a number of animals including some really cute hens and several wallaby. I fed goats and some tread on my American flag dress. I was happy that Grant's Farm's biergarten had several non-beers on free offer. I thought it was beer and only beer! First I had a seltzer made with vodka blueberry flavor... I think it's called Nutrl. Yum! We could smell the blueberry from a couple of feet away. My second drink was High Noon vodka iced tea It was good, but if I get to make that choice again, I'd go back to the blueberry. My friend and I split a vegan bratwurst with sauerkraut and a side of mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was pretty flavorful and the temperature was right (we weren't expecting much). I liked the bratwurst, but my companion wasn't wowed. The 4th of July drone show was a nice alternative to fireworks. We liked watching and figuring out the formations. Our only tip to the venue: reduce the volume of the band. We were sitting as far away as we could, and maybe there were speakers near us, but no matter the reason: this was at least 40% too loud for all of us. Those hens were so darling!
