A lost tradition no thanks to the legions of foul smelling Wal-Mart's that co-opted the principles that were important between a customer and the shop keeper. The store is beautifully organized with a replete selection of gifts, bulk bird (and wildlife) feed and some amazing bird feeders that are manufactured in the U.S.A. I was truly touched by the insightful conversation that I had with one of the owners who shared with me an experience rarely had, and truly cherished, thus signifying the importance of supporting our local businesses and the families that run them. What I admire the most is that they support conservation (with real money rather than words) which is important to me.

Now that's the quickest turn around time ever!! And I live 15 miles from the store in Eugene! To all who love to feed the birds, I highly recommend ordering from them. I received helpful ideas and suggestions for solving some challenges with setting up feeders at my home. I did end up spending a lot on the equipment, and the seed is not cheap, but it's great quality feed that my bird customers love, so to me, it is well worth the somewhat higher price. They carry a very nice quality and assortment of feeder equipment. After some trial and error, I was able to get two feeders set up, and me, my family, guests and of course indoor cat are enjoying watching hummingbirds, finches and sparrows at the feeders. Staff have been helpful and friendly and if not too busy, will also give great insights and advice on the types of local birds and their habits. For example, I did not know that a hummingbird can live up to around 12 years! Or that they can be very territorial if they find a feeder that they like. Also, I did not know that you can order online and they will deliver? I only learned that by reading others' helpful reviews, so that might be something for staff to mention. It is a nice plus. Overall enjoy shopping here and appreciate their helping me get the bird-watching and feeding set up.

I recently went in to buy some seed cylinders and suet. The person who helped me was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. She showed me products I wouldn't have noticed if on my own. Also, she had a bunch of great suggestions based on my situation, which was starting bird feeding in a new location. It all turned out to be great advice. My dog is only about 5-6 pounds and very easy to groom. In the past, his wash and trim has taken about an hour. When I dropped him off this time, I was immediately told the price would be higher than usual because of trimming around his neck. That was surprising because I've had the same basic trim done there before without any additional charge. I explained that I only wanted a very small amount trimmed -- just his belly, around his butt, and a little on his neck. When asked if I wanted anything else trimmed (like his ears), I specifically said no. Two hours later I called to check on him since it normally takes about an hour. No one answered the phone. Since it was getting close to my son's bedtime, I drove over assuming they were finishing up. When I arrived, they told me they would need another two hours. That simply wasn't possible for me, so I asked to just take him home. They told me he had already been washed and was still in the back wet. They offered to quickly blow dry him and cut his nails and asked if I could bring him back another day to finish the trim. I agreed. While I was there, when I mentioned I had called earlier and no one answered, the employee's reaction made me feel like I had done something wrong just by checking on my dog. I returned on the scheduled day, dropped him off, drove home, and 25 minutes later they called to say he was finished. This was incredibly confusing considering the previous visit supposedly required several hours. I had literally just gotten home and had to work around my baby's nap schedule, so I told them I'd come back after my son woke up. When I picked up my dog, his haircut was much shorter than what I had asked for, including his ears, which I specifically said not to cut. The final frustration happened when I got him into my car. It was obvious they hadn't blown the loose hair off of him after grooming. My freshly cleaned car is now completely covered in short, freshly cut hair embedded in the carpet and seats, which is extremely difficult to remove. Between the inconsistent timing, poor communication, not following grooming instructions, and the condition my dog was returned in, the whole experience felt very unprofessional.
