I didn't know that there is a pocket of stores tucked away on the south side of Kingston Road. This Michaels looks fairly knew compared to my local one in Markham. I parked practically in front of the main doors and walked in. Normally, I get lost in Michaels. I do well finding areas such as jewellery, yarn, and picture frames. I also managed to find the washrooms, which were clean. The best part is that you hit the women's washroom before the men's, which was a nice change. My true test visiting any Michaels store is to find calligraphy pens. I have the worst time finding such a specific, small section. Guess what? I found the section in a heartbeat. It has a decent selection of calligraphy pens with felt nibs that are like markers, pens with nibs that you dip in ink, and pens that you need to refill with ink. I was happy! I had a good time researching what yarns and simple projects I want to learn to do. It's interesting that I am fine with loom and cork knitting, but give me two knitting needles and I need help! I thought that I'd give Michaels a try. Markham lost its store several years ago. I remembered this one at Kennedy Commons. It's my closest one from home. It's also a store that I hadn't set foot until this visit. There was lots of parking available. I parked a couple of rows away from the main entrance and walked in. It is a large store. Halloween items were out in full swing, from purple cats, to headbands with bats on them. I went to the sewing section. I didn't see the pair of scissors that I was looking for. In the paper crafting section, I did find a pair of scalloped-cut scissors. I'm not sure whether this pair would cut through the fabric that I had in mind, so I passed on that experiment. I loved being in the sewing section. I am used to a tomato pin cushion. I've never seen a flower one that you wear on your wrist. It's a great idea. Knowing me, I'd be so comfortable wearing it like a watch that I'd go out with it on. I enjoyed checking out the calligraphy section. I'm content with the pens that I currently have, so I didn't pick up anything here. There were plushies near the cashout area. So deadly! I bought an item from the sewing section. I had a woman at the cashout enter my phone number to find me in the system. I paid for my item with a debit card. It was a straightforward, smooth transaction. I passed on getting a plastic bag. I thanked the woman and left the store carrying my small item to my car. I like this store. It didn't have the scissors that I was looking for. Do you need decals for whatever reason? They have a big free bin near the front. Do you need cement? What types? There are so many! And, if you don't know, the guys who work there do, and they will make sure you walk away with what you need. If you've been thinking about giving models a go, or are just looking for a place that has shelves lined with them, this is where you want to go. It's hard to believe that a brick and mortar like this place still exists, but it's wonderful that it does!

It's located in Richmond Hill in the business/warehouse district off a windy road called West Beaver Creek. The address is easy to find, lots of free plaza parking, it's next to a kids dance studio and very visible store sign. Nothing sus like another yelper stated. Inside is very spacious, clean and bright. I love how organised the shelving for new games were laid out and they even more games in back. Off the walk in, I was greeted immediately and four employees were excited to help me. They are game experts and could name off suggestions for games quickly, to pair with similar games I had in mind. Super fun to nerd off in the board game world here! I always cross reference with boardgamegeek.com first when planning to new purchases, but asked them in person to see if opinions lined up. I was impressed one employee was quick to suggest ones I never heard of. Prices are good to fair. I felt no pressure to buy anything there, they even offered if I wanted to test ones that they have opened or to get a feel of the pieces(card game quality for kid durability is real). Prices are not the best in town, the Michael's just a few blocks down the street has things cheaper but I thought it's a small business I could support. However, the most recent trip made me definitely not wanna go back. I walked in to a customer talking to the owner at the checkout counter. I didn't pay much attention to them as my mind was fixed on getting the supplies I needed for my project. The conversation got heated and both parties raised their voices so I stopped to take a look. I saw the owner pointed his hand toward the door and said "out, out!" and she angrily left. When I was done with my shopping and came to the counter to pay, he smiled and said, in his very limited English: "black people, trouble trouble right?" It's bad enough yelling at a customer, it's entirely another level of rudeness to make racist comment to another customer.
