My son had been asking for a turtle, so after Christmas I went on a hunt to find one, and a hunt it was, until I called Wild Cargo. I was informed over the phone that they had a variety of turtles available for purchase, so we headed over to check them out. This store is located in a gas station parking lot but is not too difficult to find. The store was pretty busy when we arrived, with many guests in and out, browsing the aisles, and employees bouncing back and forth attempting to help them all. I got lucky and got the attention of an employee in the fish section in the back, who redirected me to the aquatic turtles they had in stock toward the front of the store. Once my son decided on a species (Western Painted, $45), I headed to the cashier desk to discuss what other items we would need. Luckily enough, they sell a full aquarium starter kit ($200), which included: a 20-gallon tank, UVB light, water filter, turtle food, turtle treats, basking plank, water conditioner, decorative rocks, and a few other items. After I made my purchase, a nice employee carried the tank and loaded it into my car while also providing a business card with numbers I could call if I had any issues or questions going forward. Once I arrived home, tank setup was pretty easy; however, I realized the pole required to install the basking plank was missing. I drove back to the store, and the staff were so helpful and accommodating, it truly made the experience great. I was provided with some pieces of driftwood to use in the tank instead, which turned out to be of way better quality than that crap ZooMed puts in those starter kits. Fast forward three weeks: my son and I arrived home one evening to our turtle floating lifeless in the tank. Based on observation, I had not witnessed him really eat since bringing him home. He stayed on the driftwood or floated in the water leaning against it most of the time (very lethargic) and undoubtedly was suffering from a respiratory issue. I took pictures of the tank setup and brought the turtle back to the store so I could: 1. Purchase a new turtle of the same species so my son was not distraught 2. Ensure I knew what went wrong so it wouldn't happen again After much discussion with the same employee who sold me the turtle initially, I was able to understand how to better configure the driftwood in the tank so our new turtle would get the proper UVB needed to live properly in its new habitat. Just as I stood anticipating purchasing a new turtle, we were sent home, uncharged, with an identical turtle for my son and the knowledge I needed to better fit my aquarium for turtle life. After several times coming to this location I have decided to go elsewhere for my pet essentials. Not only do they leave dead animals in the cages and ontop of tabletops for hours at a time until someone tells them something about it. But upon purchasing my rabbit, a woman told me that most of the Rabbits there usually stay there till they are "Belly Up." I was recommend this place as others said they had a lot of reptiles. Even before walking in you can smell it in the parking lot. They house very large exotics chickens in tiny wire cages. AC didn't seem to work as so hot that rabbits were panting and overheating. Small selection of reptiles, likely overeating as well. Bearded dragons need linear UVB, none had it. Essential for preventing bone disease. I personally wouldn't purchase from them but some of the reptiles seemed ok. read more

I went here a couple of times, because my kids thought it was cool. The smell is horrendous. They have a large rooster in a small cage barely able to move. Many rabbits in grate style cages, which is horrible for their paws and causes splaying. There were also rabbits in cages with guinea pigs which is not healthy, due to Bordetella bronchi septics bacterial infections it can cause in guinea pigs. The reptiles were in rubber maid containers and drawers. Whoever owns this store is not truly an animal lover, but looking to make money any way possible. Please do not support this business: ***it's so bad they have a sign that states: "no guarantee on any live fish" *** PETCO on 441 is wayyyyy better Ick + disease in every tank. Exotic cold water cave dwelling axolotls kept in tropical warm temp. easy to tell they've been left to fester with disease for weeks. (Marks ark has healthy axolotls if you are looking) Many dead fish in most tanks that never get removed. If you buy a fish here it will probably die and/or infect your tank if you don't quarantine it. They keep saltwater & brackish puffers in freshwater and half of them usually die off when they could easily make a salt or brackish tank. Zero quarantine tanks for sick fish. Seems to have zero knowledge on aquatics and definitely don't care about the health of their Stock OBVIOUSLY ONLY WIDENED THEIR STORE TO INCLUDE AQUATICS SO THEY CAN MAKE MORE MONEY!!! It physically made me sad having to see what terrible conditions these fish are in. Would leave 0 stars if I could. Disgusting. read more

The location is strange but these people have great animals, good prices, they are a small family business, and they have really good customer service. I got my pet bunny from here and I named him Ted Bunty. He is very sociable. He loves exploring the house. He's brave because he should be scared of the dog but he plays with him instead. He adores my little brother and waits at my grandmother's door. He likes when I give him baths and he doesn't chew any wires. He keeps his cage clean for 5 days but most importantly he likes to cuddle or lay at people's feet. My only problem is that he won't stay still when I clip his nails, but that's natural. read more

They don't wear a mask. Since the beginning of the pandemic. The people there a very rude. Animals are not cared for well. They have like 30 Guinea pigs in one cage. They have a 12 year old child as an employee, and that boy is the nicest boy there, even though he doesn't wear a mask. Store is very run down. I only go there when I have no other choice. read more

So I love Wild Cargo let me start off by saying that. They having EVERYTHING that you would ever need for your reptiles and at a fantastic price; I couldn't be happier finding them. The employees are very friendly and helpful. Now the ONLY problem that I have occurred yesterday which I think was HIGHLY unprofessional in any business or/and inappropriate in public. I was looking at bowls where I was over hearing the owner talking to his daughter about something she didn't do correctly but he was speaking to her pleasantly so I honestly was not paying much attention. Then out of no where I hear him say "SHUT THE F#$K Up!" I thought he was speaking to his daughter so I turned and looked and to my surprise he was now speaking to his Son. His son started to say that, "I was just trying to explain to you..." and he cut him off say "I don't want to hear it." He did continue to speak to the boy disrespectfully but I don't remember exactly what he said after but then a costumer walked in and he was very pleasant. The little boy looked very embarrassed and sad. Now I am no way telling this grown man how to speak to his children (even though I don't think you should EVER speak to a child in that manner) but i think he needs to watch his mouth at the place of business. You don't want to lose clients because of the unprofessionalism and the way you talk to your own child. This is the ONLY reason why I will not give this place a 5 star review. read more

Well run family owned pet shop. They are going to tell you like it is and what is best for your animal. The owners have rehomed countless surrendered animals often at personal expense and have been featured on a number of TV specials. They know their stuff. Many years ago my newly purchased Nigerian Goats got out three days after I bought them from a 3rd party. I think they were trying to get to their old home. We just needed our tank water tested when we arrived the spanish man that we were directed to was chatting w another customer & became aggravated when we approached not how can i help 1st words were we close in 5 min ! I said we just need our water tested well we are closed but fine whats your problem !I didnt get to finish my sentence before he cut me off saying we must have done something wrong we must not have changed water correctly but wouldnt allow us to speak just kept loud talking over us without allowing us to explain anything then ushered us out saying come back another time we just wanted a quick water test we left w no test really no excuse for rudeness the rest of the employees could no doubt hear & see him I am amazed at the lack of respect & rudeness we will go out of our way to go to another pet store I work in customer service & respect goes a long way treat customers how you would like to be treated plain & simple . read more

My husband and I visited this pet store just recently and our experience was rather sad. They had a huge python referred to as "Cash Money" In a tiny tank where she couldn't move at all! She just laid there coiled. She was easily 8 to 10 ft. long, in maybe a 60 gallon tank! way, way to small for this animal. Among other animals facing similar conditions, we noticed that all of their birds were plucking their feathers. This usually happens if the birds are stressed, have lack of attention, indecent cage sizes, or parasites! Well this is only the beginning to our horrific experience.. We decided to buy a rat pup for our ball python, this was our intention of visiting the pet store. But not even a couple days after feeding her the rat pup, my entire habitat and snake were infested with mites! :( were still treating our snake.. And praying that she will be okay from having to experience something so traumatic! I normally don't write bad reviews but I felt like this needed to be put out their so no one else ends up with a sick animal from this pet store. This place needs to be reported.... read more
