There were plenty of free on-street parking when we went. Since moving to the town of Canton, I have been meaning to make a trip. This past Sunday on Labor Day weekend, I finally made it. There was live music. The market was full of people shopping and vendors. There were produce, British baked goods, mushroom coffee and jerky, maple syrup, books, art, soap, shirts, jewelry, etc. There were plenty of vendors selling all their goodies. We visited each stand and enjoyed shopping and window shopping. We purchased cookies from Calos cookies, scones from the British stand, and maple lollipops from another stand. The Cow's Coop brought a baby cow (calf); it was so cute. After, we went to get coffee at LaSalle's and walked around the town. The weather was perfect, the vendors were friendly, I look forward to going back and supporting more small businesses.

There is just something about Collinsville that resonates with me -it has a laid back Bohemian Hippie Vibe that is hard to put into words. Maybe its the dozens of happy pooches that wander around. Maybe its the ultra friendly vendors. Maybe its the drop dead gorgeous scenery as you look over the Crown and Hammer. Maybe it's all the bicyclists and joggers that are everywhere. Maybe its all that granola and nuts and seeds and tie dye. It's like hard to explain, man..... We bought some corn, and a pizza and biscottis from Collinsville bakery. There are quite a bit of vendors here, most definitely more than when we started patronizing the Market a few years ago. Beautiful fresh produce is available from dozens of stands, plus meats, baked goods, herbs, eggs, you name it. It's a wonderful way to spend a few hours on a Sunday Summer afternoon.

Consistent vendors include Berry Ledges Apiary, March Farms, Twin Pines Farm, and Wave Hill Breads, but there is a variety of vendors each week. Following them on Facebook or checking the website will provide a list of who is expected each week and what they're offering. It is dog friendly, although it is on asphalt so take care to give little paws a break.

Well, over the years we've seen a lot bigger and just a few smaller. All in all, there were about ten vendors here. Maybe it's too early in the season, so as we go further into the Summer there could be more. There's plenty of room in the school parking lot they're located in. Anyway, you'll see a nice variety of fruit and vegetables (garlic scapes, anyone?), and a lot of baked goods like breads, quiches, pastries, soft pretzels, and granola. We stopped at the Simple Delights bakery and picked up a nice Lemon Blueberry loaf and a Cinnamon Bun.

The farm has stands at the Torrington Farmers' Market on Saturdays and at the Collinsville Farmers' Market on Sundays during the season. Recently Jack & I had the opportunity to take a tour of the grounds. The crop looked amazing. My favorite was a visit to the "chicken coop" which was a large room in a barn with an outdoor area. The critters even have a pigeon friend who hangs out with them.

They had soap from The Cow's Coop. There were baked goods and of course produce; from watermelons, tomatoes, melons, garlic, onion, corn, and more. The shop was pretty busy; people were in and out. The products were fresh; we did get the tiny baby melon which was alright, it was not sweet at all. I'd probably get the larger one next time. They also setup shop at the Canton Farmers Market every Sunday in the summer. I love supporting small farms so this is a great place to get some fresh produce.

We picked up 2 ears of corn to have for dinner tonight, and let me tell you -they were terrific. Without exaggeration, some of the best corn I have ever tasted. Ten times better than the scrawny and tasteless ears I got from Rosedale Farms just a few days ago. The corn was quite large, and every perfect kernel was plump and bursting with flavor. There was a booth and friendly people working there. The field was large. I went the first week it opened and there were plenty of strawberries. The strawberries were so good, almost like candy. It was super fresh; I don't want to buy strawberries from a grocery store anymore! The kids enjoyed picking them and so did I. Definitely worth a visit!

I read reviews and gathered that it was a great place to visit, especially during the autumn time. The parking lot was spacious right off the busy road. They offer hayrides and there was a pumpkin patch; you can pick your own in the field or in the store. There was a garden center and farm store. The farm store had jams, jellies, apples, gourds, cookies, veggies, pumpkins, mums, hot sauces, etc. They had wheelbarrows for you to use, if you're planning to buy a few big pumpkins. They also had an apple fritter/donut/cider stand. I purchased half a dozen of apple fritters for $8; you can add extra cinnamon sugar. Those apple fritters looked like donut holes but tasted like apple donuts, it was very splendid! Overall, a great spot to stop by if you're into the small town farm vibes. There was a beautiful view of the Heublein tower on the hill and the fall foliage. It's the perfect fall activity!
